Went here this past Saturday with my fiancé and his friends. We were visiting them in their new home in Andover and we went for dinner. There were several things on the menu that sounded like they would be good but I decided on a sliced steak sammich on garlic bread(with peppers & onions). If the bread had a little more garlic on it, it would have been so much better. The french fries are really good. My fiancé had the fish & chips… I am not a fish eater(severe texture issues with it) but tried a bit of it and it was good. It was very moist and not fishy at all. His friend had the corned beef & cabbage special(as it was St. Patrick’s weekend) and I tried a little… also good. His wife had gotten the steak special… it wasn’t bad for $ 10, but they could have at least given a vegetable instead of a piece of lettuce. A major plus for Lockwood is that they give you a FULLGLASS of wine for $ 5.50(I had White Zinfandel)…instead of $ 7 for less than half a glass at most other restaurants. I love the look of the place inside. Very rustic looking… like an old English or Irish pub. We got there at a good time, about 4:30, so the place wasn’t crowded… which is always a good thing. As we were getting ready to leave, it started filling up. Lockwood gets a YES vote from me. We’ll be going back again.

My boyfriend and I were hesitant to go here after reading the reviews however we were totally impressed. The menu was very diverse and the food we ordered was excellent. Jeanette was our server and our service was excellent, I can’t wait to go back.

My first time and the soup was lukewarm. The scallops were overcooked. The service was average. My dates’ dish was flavorless.

I used to love this place years ago and I’m sad to say it has gone down hill. I like historic buildings, but there is a difference between being cool and vintage and just plain old and dirty. It’s not well maintained at all and the bathroom is disgusting. The last time I was there a few weeks ago, I ordered a panini. It was actually pretty yummy… And then I pulled a long, dark hair from the middle. GROSS. It pretty much confirmed my suspicions about the level of cleanliness at this establishment. The waiter was apologetic and took it off the bill, but I never heard from the management. I’m not sure if I’ll be back…

Lockwood Tavern has reopened and I had a terrific lobster for Easter Dinner tonight! The meal started with warm, crispy bread and butter(important to me), followed by a scrumptious spinach salad with real crumbled blue cheese and bacon bits. The 1 ½ lb. lobster with lovely roasted potatoes also included clams(not a favorite with me so I didn’t sample them). Finished up with yummy Tartufo ice cream dessert. Nice cozy atmosphere downstairs with bar and TV’s, and they also open the upstairs(used to be Barone’s) for parties or on busy weekends. Prices were good for us, nothing outrageous. A real treat to find such good food and a welcoming atmosphere so close to home.

Roast Beef au Jus, enough said. I see complaints about the prices however, I’d pay the extra buck or two to avoid having an «average» sandwich.

Good pizza but my wife always says it is too salty. Catered from here once and was ok but portions were ridiculously small for ½ trays.

Last few times we were here… the service has gone down tremendously… saving on food costs by making smaller portions. A burger at Mickie D’s would have more weight. I wrote them a letter regarding poor service we received one night… waited exactly one hour for our food… and they never replied. As my grandmother would say…“they got too big for their britches.”…

We had a few things off the menu, nothing was really good and definitly not worth the price. Paid 12.95 for about 12 oversized, under seasoned, chewy pieces of calamari and 17 bucks for a pasta dish that should not have been more than 9.95. overall overpriced and underseasoned. Will not be back.

The reason this place gets 3 stars because it’s a very nice cozy place with bands playing on the weekends. This place is great during the winter as it really feels like a warm place inside. But the food is nothing to rave about. Stick to just the burgers at this place. If you are going to order pizza, then just order the thin crust they have. Do not order the specialty pies, because they are horrible. They do no not use fresh ingredients in any of their food, so just stick to the burgers and fries. It’s a great place to enjoy some beer and a burger, that’s about it.

Live up the road from them, my wife and I like to go from time to time never disappoints. One thing, dark inside bring your reading glasses hard to see the menu with the lighting. Otherwise, menu is very good!
