Admittedly I was about two and a half sheets to the wind by the time we got here, but it was fuh-hun. There was barely anyone dancing, so my lanky-ass limbs could flail and careen all over the dance floor. The DJ was very accommodating, probably because there were only two other people making requests, but I got to dance my heart out without risking serious bodily injury to others, and my husband forgot his credit card here(I take this as a sign that the bar was doing it’s job-get us druuunk and happy and forgetful). Definitely will be back here, I hope this place doesn’t become too popular, so that my flailing dance moves will forever be uninhibited. Apparently it’s a restaurant, too? Can’t comment on that.

Compass just opened as a restaurant and night club and it does both exceptionally! I had the pleasure of meeting both the executive chef Victor Lopez and bar manager Paul Murphy. I sampled a variety of things on the menu and drink list and both clearly have been thought through. The menu is a great mix of some molecular gastronomy and new wave american. The seasonal pumpkin soup and the molecular take on a ceasar salad are real bad ass! The menu is really something that stamford is missing. The crab sphere with avocado is something ive never had. Serving it with yuca chips keeps it light and fresh. What a great appetizer. House made pretzels and a roasted fig appetizer? So simple, but so well done. The 16oz ribeye with chimichuri was F-ing fantastic. Chimichuri tasted fresh like made 30 seconds ago fresh. Really nice touches by the chef in creating this menu. I wish i was fatter so i could eat more… The bar had some awesome infusions going on. Tasted the chocate and chilli vodka. Started with the taste of chocolate and finished with the kick of chilli. Really really bad ass. The maple bacon bourbon also had a unique take on the sweet and savory and tasted very very good. The cinnamon and sugar bourbon was similar to fireball but the freshness of the infusion blows it out of the water. I enjoyed talking to the bartender about the infusions and there were a few i couldnt get too. Apple and pear vodka and lime and mint rum looked real good. I should have gotten a cab. 16 beers on tap too, what was i thinking?
