Went here for an early lunch. Sandwiches were delicious and came with pickles. Definitely split the Bavarian pretzel with a group. It’s huge! They aren’t shy about their love of Ohio state. Especially in the bathrooms.

Stopped by with some girlfriends on a Saturday evening to enjoy a couple of beers w/artichoke dip & pita chips on their outdoor patio. Great appetizer & atmosphere. Wasn’t very busy at all. Great surprise in basically our backyard & can’t wait to go back.

How cute is this place. My sister recently moved into Stafford and we stopped in before my niece’s dance class for a coffee. I really enjoyed the atmosphere. I only got coffee but they had a lot more to offer. I’m excited to try something else there the next time I go to visit.

Great little hole in the wall. We went for lunch after a work engagement. The staff greeted us as we walked in and we were quickly ordering. The menu was simple and very descriptive. I ordered the turkey panini. It was delicious! The best part is it is served with a side of raspberry jam. The combination of bread, turkey, cheese, and Jam went together very well. The sandwich is served with chips as well. After lunch, I ordered a cookie; white macadamia nut. It was excellent as well. It was a very good place and clean. The only thing they could be improved is the amount of Ohio State memorabilia. It is not the worst big 10 Team, but still not a fan. Go Green!

Being from Nashville, TN, and spoiled with great coffee, I was excited to try a place within the more suburban and residential area of my childhood that has been open for a few years now(it was a different café before). Located at one end of a strip mall near Rodney Thompson Middle School, the space itself looks nice. Perhaps a little generic, but it felt warm and cozy, with some bar seating, tables, and couches. The people working the café were incredibly nice and were always checking on my friends and me. While I did not order any food or pastries(next time) I did order an americano. I’m sad to sad this, but I probably could have made this myself and done a lot better. The coffee tasted like overburnt Folgers. Yuck, no thanks! My friends were happy with the price of the alcoholic drinks, so there is that. I hear Stafford County may be getting local breweries, so it would be nice to see that come to this café, considering the beer options are fairly mainstream and commercial. Overall, this seems like an ok spot, but nothing notable on a larger scale. Glad it is in the area though! There aren’t many local options, and I hope they can learn more and improve.

Decent coffee when they decide to be open. It is Saturday at 11:45 and they are not open. Their unreliable hours have resulted in their rating. Also how can a coffee shop not be open on Sunday and open after 9 am on the weekdays?

Cute spot with delicious, warmed cookies! They are one of the very few coffee shops that i have been to in VA that can make an incredible cappuccino! Thank you so much! You rock!

Daiquiri is refreshing. Ambiance is pleasant and staff are friendly. The chicken salad has curry dressing which at first I’m a little apprehensive because I’ve never tasted one before. It is surprisingly good. It has slices of grapes and apples but I wish there’s more chicken. Overall, good experience. I will come back again.

I ate dinner on their patio with two friends. The food, atmosphere, and price were very satisfactory. We enjoyed our wine, dessert, and entrees. We also ordered the beer cheese appetizer which was good. I will definitely be going again.

Very happy with the quality of the coffee as an alterative to the usual retail joints. The couch’s, different style tables and cozy outdoor area are laid back and relaxed. Didn’t eat the food but plan on returning to try the offerings in the future.

This place is way over rated. The menu is small and over priced for what you get. I’ve had the club which literally consisted of a half empty double decker sandwich. The tuna melt which was probably the only thing I’ve been satisfied with(other than the beer), the bland grilled chicken sandwich and the turkey panini which the cashier said was a best seller. Im guessing its only a best seller because they keep suckering people into ordering it. It was literally a thin slice of turkey cheese and the normal fillers. I should have just stayed home and made a grilled cheese sandwich. Oh yea lets not forget that their sandwiches come with a side of «gourmet» potato chips AKA Ruffles. The only thing this place has going for it is, the only reason I continue to meet my wife here for lunch, the ambiance. If someone were to open a similar establishment with better quality food, in the same area this place would loose its customers. Long story short, subway has better sandwiches for a better price and you get to choose what kind of chips you get you just cant order a beer at subway.

It pains me to write this review because I love to support local businesses, but we just had the worst lunch we’ve had in a long time. We got our order to go. I ordered the Asian Chicken Wrap($ 9.95), that came with a side of chips, a pickle, and a side of sriracha. I was so disappointed when I got home and opened my lunch. My wrap was on an enormous wheat wrap, with a piece of anorexic chicken, shredded cabbage, 2 pieces of carrots, and some peanut sauce. It was folded like a flat package, not wrapped neatly like a wrap should be. I can’t get over how few ingredients were in the wrap itself. I had to tear off at least half of the wheat wrap so I wasn’t eating just the wrap. I also did not have the side of sriracha, which would have helped me choke down my lunch. My husband had the ham panini, and he said he would rather be in a horrible car accident and become disfigured than to eat the panini again. Ouch. Of course, he has a tendency to exaggerate, but you get the point. My kids had the hot dog, which was the best part of the meal, but for $ 6.95, it’s far from worth it. I don’t mind spending the extra money for quality food. We do it all the time at restaurants like Foode and Kybecca down in Fredericksburg. Before ‘n’ After does not qualify. The only reason that I gave them 2 stars instead of 1 is because the employees are really nice, and I can get a decent cup of coffee there. Instead of being called Before ‘n’ After, it should be called Never ‘n’ Again.

Pleasantly out of place. I live in a backwards ass, over crowded hell hole of a town that begs for identity in the sea of suburbia called Stafford Virginia. Big deal… George Washington grew up in Stafford. Even he moved to Alexandria. Nobody really lives here… they just survive. Everyone commutes to D.C. and lives the other half of their day blinded by brake lights on I95. When we poor bastards finally get home, there’s no time for good food. Just eat crap and go to bed. Do it all over again the next day. All this misery is why we only have crap for eating establishments… fast food: we got it covered Jack. I’m serious… Unilocal: «restaurants(top rated) in Stafford, Virginia” — Your top two choices are: Chick-Fil-et and Kabob Corner. F me. Fine dining? Read my review on Log Cabin Restaurant(2 stars). «Gee Nick… why don’t you go to the next town over for more dining choices??» Well Mr. helper… due to 24 hr a day traffic, my stomach would start digesting my backbone by the time I made it any where else. F me. So I stumble on this little joint just 5 min from my house. Before ‘n’ After. I’m gonna describe it in one sentence. «A funky little bistro-brasserie /sandwich shoppe /coffee house /beer and wine bar local neighborhood hang out… uh …joint.» My jaw hangs open(not because I’m a Stafford mouth breather redneck). This place belongs in any Portland like or costal Maine town. Not here… I’ll take it. The owner, Josh is on site and knows EVERYBODY by name that walks through the door. Josh is a great host. Josh should run for town mayor. The food is familiar with some twists… diversions like a rainbow trout sandwich or a beer cheese appetizer. Wines are acceptable… nice selection of craft beers. TALL beers…20 oz mugs baby… hell ya. Price… well, how does $ 60 for 5 alcohol drinks, appetizers, sandwich plates and a dessert?(My wife came… seriously, I’m not that big of a boozer). Ok…so this place belongs in a Northern town that swims with liberals. Yes… they are wall to wall in here. Wtf? I switched one of the 3 big TVs to Fox 5 conservative evening news and you would have thought somebody pulled the cord out of the juke box. GOP types… don’t plan your next election meeting here. Josh says they have live music on the weekends and it gets pretty crowded. I’m thinking a sea of soccer moms in practical shoes and balding subservient govt. contractor suburbia dads getting down. Probably no college chicks looking for Marines on leave… just a guess. Bottom line: Only a matter of time till Josh knows my name.

This local place(non-chain) does it right. Great tasting coffee drinks and pastries make this the place to go in the morning. With their wine selection, it’s a great place to meet with friends after work, or on the weekends. The atmosphere is pleasing and comfortable, with various seating areas, including an outdoor section. From highly visible small tables, to cozy lounge areas, there’s a place for everyone. Several flat-panel TVs have various games on, but aren’t too loud to ignore if you just want to sit and chat. The attentive staff aims to please and works hard to make the drinks just right. I may be a gold-card-carrying customer for a certain other coffee house but this is my new favorite.
