Tri J Towing & Recovery

Tried to sign my title over to them and they told me I had to pay 102 $ I don’t have cash only american express. Now that I can’t sign the title over even though my car is worth at least 800 $ … they want me to pay the full fee and let my car go on lean cause I can’t pay with cash. So apparently the lady at the front desk said it might be a 150 $ extra total to get out of lean its 350 $ and I can’t sign over title and my name will be on lean when i go to renew my license in 2022.

This place is terrible. Worst customer service possible. My vehicle was in an accident and was taken there by police later that night because it was not able to drive. I called st. pete police and they told me it was there. So i spoke to some extremely unprofessional and rude lady on the phone. Was trying to get info. She spoke to me in tow lingo talking about a booth, then she told me i need a release from the SPPD and hung up on me. I called back to ask more questions about what info i needed to give the police and she was rude and said she had other customers in front of her and put me on hold. I called back and lady told me that i owed her money and if i didn’t pay it would keep getting higher. After getting the runaround, i called my insurance company and they took care of everything for me and i wouldn’t have to worry about it.
This place is horrible. Don’t ever call them for anything if you want to save yourself the headache. I don’t understand how the city of St. Petersburg would hire a company like that.

Like most people that use a towing company — it was unexpectedly yesterday. I called and was promptly scheduled for a pick up. The operator was polite and to the point. The tow truck driver arrived in less time than stated — which was nice. He was polite and no frills. He met us at the mechanic shop while we followed. I felt very confident my vehicle was in good hands. I paid cash so I am unsure if credit cards are accepted. I will definitely be using this company when need be in the future.

My son was a victim in a hit and run accident and was seriously injured. After finding out where the vehicle was and contacting my insurance agent, I gave the company a release for the vehicle. Several days later the insurance company said that Tri J had not gotten a release. I called them again and gave the release. Two days later the insurance company called to say they would not release it. I called them again and gave the release. Same thing. It appears that on my fourth attempt they finally gave the release, but are now claiming $ 600 dollars in storage fees. I am working with my lawyer to not only get the fees reduced, but to also put some pressure on them. I am also working with the city of St Pete to have them removed as a vendor for these types of accidents. From my perspective they are unethical at best and perhaps even criminal.

If your car gets impounded when driven by another driver, they will not let that person get their house keys, phone, etc — why? because «It’s our policy». They are really so sorry about that — NOT. The towing business is a racket — if you don’t have every i dotted and t crossed, they will keep the car another day, and charge storage fees of $ 20/​day. Their customer is the law enforcement entity, not the person whose car is in the lot — you are the enemy.

I was involved in an accident early Saturday morning and taken directly to Northside Hospital from the scene. My car was towed to Tri-​J Towing. I called the company once I got home to find out if I could gain access to my vehicle to retrieve items I need to complete work for school (I am a graduate student). I was told that I cannot have access to my own vehicle until Monday morning at 8:00 am. When I asked why, I was told, «That’s just the rules.» When I asked if there was anyone he could contact who could grand me permission, he got very argumentative and hung up on me. I feel that this is extremely unfair and can cause a lot of problems for people, most of whom do not plan on being in accidents and being separated from their belongings. The lack of understanding and willingness to help was completely unprofessional, and I cannot believe that a company which has staff present would deny an accident victim access to materials inside of her own car. This is extremely poor customer service and a terrible example of how to do business.

My son’s car was towed to this location after an accident, thus beginning a total nightmare… We never did recover the items in the vehicle, as the car was auctioned at an earlier date than we were told. Like many other people in this situation, we ended up owing the company for storing our vehicle and had to hand over the title. This is a very unethical business causing additional suffering and anguish to people at the worst time of their lives.
