History
Established in 2009.
Local restaurateur, Peter Veytia, opened Red Mesa on 4th Street 15 years ago. With numerous awards and mounting kudos, he opened Red Mesa Cantina in downtown St. Pete in 2009. Together with Chef Chris Fernandez, they developed a new menu with an expanded range of flavors, organized informally so each guest can sample a variety of dishes, mixing and matching in any combination. Cantina has a beautiful indoor dining room and a dining courtyard with a landmark water fountain running through it. It also has a fully-stocked bar in the main dining room with Tampa Bay’s deepest collection of unique tequilas, plus the outdoor LUCHA BAR that ofers live entertainment on weekends. Cantina is also popular for its fabulous weekend brunch, 11am-3pm.

Pete Veytia is well known as one of St. Pete’s most successful restaurateurs. Over 30 years ago he started with SeaBar, a local legend, then opened Red Mesa Restaurant in 1985, which is itself, a local landmark that continues to amaze patrons from around the world. In 1992 be opened Red Mesa Cantina in downtown St. Pete, an expanded version of the 4th Street original. Pete has always been obsessed with delivering the best of what each recipe can be by consistently using the finest and freshest ingredients and delighting his customers each and every time they return to his table.
