Painting with a Twist

I had the pleasure of attending a «Paint Your Pet» class with my coworkers!
I was pretty nervous, because I am NOT artistic, but the lady teaching our class was extremely helpful in guiding us in the right direction (which was a bit more difficult then the normal class, because we all have our own individual pets, different species and all). They gave us plenty of time and space to do our own thing, but they were also readily available when we messed something up or needed advice.
They provided wine glasses and ice, as well as bottle openers. Super nice people, and a great idea for those of us who want to pretend to be artistic, but really, aren’t.

Always a good time at Painting with a Twist! Instructors (maybe they should be called handlers since there is alcohol involved?) were funny and quick to provide an assist which was most welcome.

It is a great way to spend a fun low key night out. I went with another friend the other night. It was a lot of fun. My final product wasn’t quite close to what the original looked like but it was a lot of fun and a lot of laughs. It’s great that they allow you to bring your own snacks and drinks. There was only one male in the class, however our instructor was a male. So it is def a female oriented crowd. Don’t let it stop you though from doing a date night here. I look forward to coming back and trying to paint another piece of artwork.

I cannot say enough good things about this place. We had Curtis as our instructor and he honestly made this experience so fantastic. If you can ask for him personally I would.
I bought a private room upstairs for my whole family as a Christmas present and I can’t remember the last time we all laughed and joked around together so much as we did that night.
Curtis was awesome at going at our own pace and not feeling rushed. He also helped us individualize our art as well.
You already did know this, but it is bring your own booze however they provide cups and plates.
This place ain’t fancy, in fact it’s more hole in the wall casual so dont be expecting any glasswear ;)

First time experience was awesome! Lisa and Marc did a phenomenal job keeping the class fun and engaging. Will definitely come back again. If you’re hesitant about signing up because of a lack of art skill/​background like I was initially, don’t be! The instructors do a great job of walking everyone through the steps.

I am not an artist, nor to I pretend to be! But I wanted to check out Painting with a Twist. I did a similar night about 5 years ago and I had a lot of fun. It was in Brandon, but it was a relaxed night, good company, and lots of fun. I was expecting the same thing tonight, but it wasn’t quite the same. First of all, we were rushed the whole time. There wasn’t time to relax and joke with your friends or drink wine. We were painting too fast the whole time. There wasn’t much for guided instructions either. The instructor was going faster than we could keep up and he would proceed with the painting without even talking out loud. You had to be watching him to see what you were doing, which doesn’t work when you’re trying to paint your own picture, and you’re already behind. In the end, it was an ok evening. I just wish we would have had more time to enjoy painting and relax and have fun.

PWT is perfect for an event like a shower, girls night out, work function, etc. It’s also great for just a night of fun.
The instructor leads you and your group through creating a painting. Our painting was a bit fast-​paced so it was important to pay attention. While painting, you can sip and nibble on whatever your group brought. There’s cheering and enthusiastic instructors, lots of fun to be had.
When it’s all said and done, you have a masterpiece… or not. Mine was pretty awesome.
I quite enjoyed this and will definitely be back!

So much fun! I went with my cousin and best friend and we had a blast! The staff is knowledgeable and friendly and they offer a fun night out! Highly recommended for all artistic levels!

So much fun! I came for a charity event and we did Starry Night with an Eiffel tower. The instructor was funny and patient. Employees also walked around to refill paint and fix people’s mistakes (and when I say people’s, I mean mine.) Great place for a date, girls night out, birthdays. Loved it!

Went for the first time today for a fundraiser. Had such a great time. They really walk you through every step and the instructors are very helpful patient and fun. I am not artistic and was very surprised to come home with a painting I can be proud to hang on my wall.

I love how they take something intimidating (like painting Van Goh!) and make it simple and fun. They literally take you from a blank canvas to a finished painting in just a few hours. The paint, aprons, brushes, canvas, etc. are all supplied by them, you bring any snacks or drinks (alcohol is encouraged) with you. General/​public class calendars are put up well in advance to plan a great night out. Private parties can be booked with a minimum of 10 seats. I appreciate a lot how much they give to charities through their Painting with a Purpose program as well. It would be a lot better, in my opinion, if the harder paintings weren’t so rushed. I also think that for the amount paid per class ($ 35 or $ 45 depending on the length of time for the class) that maybe some sodas or snacks could be supplied by the Store. It would make a «drop in date night» a lot more fun and spontaneous.

Fun for a night out. .. I went with a bunch of girlfriends, but there were a few couples there too. No experience or creative skills are needed, they walk you through step by step and make it fun and easy. Our class was 3 hours and ran over, but they have a lot of 2 hour classes as well. They provide all the supplies, you bring the snacks and drinks — anything you want. It is on the higher end of what I spend for fun, but I have a keepsake to hang on my wall. They have a calendar so you can decide in advance what you want to paint and sign up. They have a catalog as well and you can request certain images that they will consider adding to the calendar.
The St Pete location has an upstairs and downstairs and can do a couple of sessions at once. They offer kids classes too. Private parties are available as well and they also do fundraisers. I’m sure I’ll be back. Enjoy!

What a fun way to spend a few hours! Been here twice. First time for a fundraiser and second took my mom for her Birthday. Had a ball both times! I’m not an artist, so was pretty worried the first time I went. However, the staff members are very knowledgeable, helpful, and encouraging that both of my paintings came out looking great! I love the concept too. You get to do something different and creative and also enjoy your favorite beverage (which, let’s face it, makes it more fun). You can also bring snacks if you like. Plates, plastic cups, napkins, and utensils are provided. The food/​drink is not really for sharing with others. I hear, if you get 10 people together, you can have a private lesson, so you get to decide what to paint. If it’s just a few of you, there are different painting every day, so you can definitely find something that you’d like hanging at your house!

Fun girls night out. Painting instructor was upbeat. Instruction was basic level (i.e., use this brush, paint in a swirl, etc.) which made it easy to follow and allowed for a lot of personal interpretation.

Totally unique and pretty fun. In terms of drinks, it’s bring your own, but everything is out for everyone to share. There seems to be a bunch of regulars that come. A good place to take a friend or a date.

«It’s fun art, not fine art!»
Painting With a Twist is BYOB painting class. An art background is completely unnecessary. Local artists give the class step-​by-​step instructions to create a unique, one of a kind painting. Students are invited to bring their own wine and snacks to class so they can socialize while they paint.
Painting With a Twist studios are located throughout the U.S. I attended a class at the downtown St. Pete location with two friends. One of the girls in our group had taken a few classes here, but the rest of our group were newbies to PWAT and to painting in general! The cost is $ 35 per person for a 2 hour class and $ 45 per person for a 3 hour class. The paintings vary from class to class so you can choose whatever class date and painting best suits you. The class was a little scary at first when I realized this was not a paint by numbers class, but the instructions are so easy that anyone can create art (even me!). When in doubt: just take a deep breath (and a sip of wine!).
The BYOB rules vary from location to location. I believe the South Tampa location is not BYOB (yet!). If by chance you do not finish your painting (we didn’t) there is a free two hour S.O.S. class held (usually) on the first Saturday of every month.
This was the perfect event for girls night! I can’t wait to try another class!

Lately, I have been looking for things to do that I have never done before. Painting with a Twist is something I have never done before, and now want to do many more times! It was so much fun, and well worth the time and money.
My boyfriend and I decided to go together on what they call «Date Night». I painted the wine glass, and he painted the beer mug. The instructors were helpful, fun, and encouraging! I brought my bottle of wine, and he brought his 6-​pack of beer, and we relaxed and painted. Our paintings turned out great, and I can’t wait to make more to hang on our walls.
HIGHLY recommend this, I will surely be going back!
