What I bought and how it went over with the family: Chicken Spedini — pretty delicious! I liked how easy it was to make and cleanup was a breeze. Everyone but the wife really enjoyed this — she’s just not that in to chicken so it wasn’t a surprise. I would have liked a little more cheese but that is a pretty minor concern. I will certainly buy these again. Special of the week NY Strip Steaks — pretty good. They cooked a lot quicker than I expected but that is not a reflection on the market, rather it is an indictment of my cooking. Good marbling and nice flavor. Cheesy garlic bread — a 50⁄50 split at the dinner table. Unfortunately, the young lady who gave me the cooking instructions for this item missed it by a bit and when we tried to brown the cheese under the broiler the wife damn near set the thing on fire. A little creative carving was necessary but it still wasn’t a hit. Twice-baked potatoes — almost a complete bomb. The only thing that didn’t get consumed during the meal when they were served. I thought they were alright but I had the highest opinion of them in the family. I also bought some ground beef(great price!) and bulk Italian sausage for the freezer that we will get around to eating eventually. I like this place but I’m not quite in love with it yet. That may come with time or it may never happen. I will certainly be back to dive deeper into their offerings.

This has been my «go to» place since moving to St. Charles from St. Louis and the infamous«Hill» with its many fine Italian establishments for everything from basic ingredients to full meals. Only reason for not giving 5 stars is price… I know meat is expensive, and they have to «pass it on» to the customers, but yeah… its just kinda insane… and probably going to get worse… First off, GREAT Salciccia, straight up as a sausage or «squeezed» into bits for pizza, top notch; and they have just about everything else you need for toppings on your own«homemade» pizza(I take my pizza making VERY seriously… lol). I have worked(professionally) behind many a pizza counter; it is ALL about the ingredients… and a searing hot oven… at least for my favorite«style», THIN… I can hear Chicagoans and New Yorkers already starting to clear their throats(and limber up their typing fingers) to detest our St. Louis«style» pizza… save it! I have heard it all; ad nauseum. I get it… you dont like our pizza. GREAT! Don’t eat it!!! In my opinion, they are simply THREE different kinds of PIZZA(sorry California«style»…you just have«goofy» toppings… IMO of course). I love all three styles… but if *I* had to choose *one*, its«thin to win»…my choice. Haters will hate… me, I love all three«styles» of pizza(no pineapple toppings though, Thank You very much… some things just do not belong on any pizza… even if you have an entire chain of places… ugh!)…anyway…sorry for the«rant». Just sooo tired of hearing how St. Louis pizza isn’t «real» pizza… I get the hypocrisy of my Cali dismissal. But the argument is in crust styles, not toppings… Back to Valenti’s… For Valentine’s day my wife and I usually go out; but the economy being as it is, we decided to for go tradition and stay home. We usually go to a local hole-in-the-wall pub/bar/bowling alley(no kidding) with SURPRISINGGREATSTEAKS(Tubby’s). So I got up early on V-day to surprise my wife and go get some steaks of our own to cook. I make the trek out to Valenti’s, as they are the closest to a «real» meat shop that I know of in the St. Charles area, and got two«custom cut» ribeyes(at their suggestion, after I *jokingly* complained about the ribeyes they had on display being a bit«thin»), and THANKFULLY *I listened*! What came out of the back were two of the best looking steaks I have EVER seen, and I must admit; I cooked them to medium-rare perfection(at that price I BETTER have gotten then right… lol). Yes, it was EXPENSIVE… inch and quarter«ribeyes» usually are, but it was by FAR the best $ 30 I ever spent… that was TOTAL price, tax included; far less than what we would of spent if we had gone to out eat. And yeah, it was a bit of work, but well worth it… I still love Tubby’s…but I have a «new favorite»…when I feel like cooking that is… Now cooking such pieces of art are not for the novice, and since this is not a cooking review of «myself», I will just say… bake first, then sear… cast iron is your friend. It was too cold to grill(much preferred)…well too cold AND snowing heavily… lol. Again, I was NOT going to destroy these two wonderful pieces of meat; I would of never forgiven myself, and nor would have my wife… lol. So I will start saving my pennies again for next year… lol. Well, hopefully it won’t be that long until I can find a reason to «celebrate» again; as I WILL be returning to Valenti’s; as soon as my bank account allows…:)

I went out for more staples. 1.5 pounds of thick-cut bacon 88-ounce bacon-wrapped filets($ 5.99 each) 8NY strip steaks($ 6.99 each) 12 chicken spedini — ready for the oven and wrapped in threes a pound of sliced roast beef a pound of Genoa salami a pound of Miller’s ham a bag of hoagie rolls And a great Italian sandwich. I ate half in the store at their café tables, and took the rest home for dinner. These people are so nice, wrap your purchases to your needs and are so attentive. The guy who made my sandwich came out to ask how it was. That was so nice and wonderful! I wouldn’t have gotten the bag of hoagie rolls, except that my sandwich was on that roll. And it was stupendous. I can make great sandwiches at home with these rolls.

This is my go-to butcher. Best Filets in the area! Try the Jalapeño Bratwurst. I would give them 5 stars but too many of there items in the case are frozen.

This place is awesome! I finally got to go here today after going to the«other» Valenti’s on Cloverleaf and left from there feeling a tad disappointed. THIS Valenti’s does not disappoint though. Sean and I both got sandwiches to go from their deli. I had the Italian one with meat and cheese and I got some Italian dressing on it. He ordered the classic club sans mayo. He was upset to discover it comes on asiago bread which he absolutely hates, and asked if they could switch the bread. She said no problem, and he apologized for«being an asshole» but it was no big deal. That’s great service there. I think they should at least mention it comes on asiago in case someone is allergic or just hates it. My sandwich was pretty dang good. The meat was really excellent, but I think the bread could have been better. Sean thought his was A-OK but not as good as BCD in his opinion.(Hard to top BCD for him, though. It’s basically impossible, lol.) I also got a filet mignon and a strip steak to go to cook later. OMG their filet mignons are only $ 5.35?! Holy cannoli! And speaking of cannoli, I got some to go! They are SO freaking good. I just wish they had more choco chips in the centers. And no cherry on top. I hate those kinds of cherries but it didn’t contaminate the filling so it was OK, lol. I also got tiramisu to go which was amazing as well. And I also got a loaf of fresh baked bread to go, and an Italian seasoning shaker for only $ 5(it’s a big shaker too with different segments of spices.) All in all, I would DEFINITELY return. The meat is fresh and cheap, sandwiches aren’t bad, great Italian dessert selection as well as pasta, olives, alcohol, bread, and more. The inside of the store smelled like my childhood when my mom used to take me to various Italian grocery shops in the Italian district of Pittsburgh. Mmmm. Now if only they had canned black olives! mmm.

YUMYUMYUM! I love Valenti’s. From their wide variety of deli meats, cheese, and breads one cannot go wrong. The small deli feel inside is great. The location is in a small run down strip mall off Mexico Rd. They always have signs of the sales going on… which are always great. We always go when they are having sales on the Kabobs. We get chicken and steak and they are just to die for. Even with no extra seasoning added they are wonderful, juicy, fresh, and thick. The bread here is also amazing. Just sprinkle a little butter and garlic on top, pop it in the oven, and you have heaven in your kitchen within minutes. Valentis is a small deli but very personable. It gets crowded on weekend days right before dinner time(2:00−3:00ish) especially in the summer when the grill is hot and ready to go. We usually stock up on Valenti’s goodies when heading on vacation or camping. I would admit that Valenti’s is better then Schnucks, Dierbergs, and even Costco. Valenti’s is held dear to our familys grill and to St. Peters! Family owned this place is a winner!
