AT&T U-verse

My fiancé and I have a U-​Verse bundle for our home (cable, Internet, and home phone). I am in class 4 nights a week so I am not home enough to notice a problem. She on the other hand is. Tonight I got out of class early because I’m good at what I am learning in class and was rewarded with going home early. When I got home I was playing some video games online and out of nowhere lost internet connection. According to my fiancé this has been happening almost every night for the last several weeks. We love having U-​Verse service. It is a breeze to use and usually very reliable. After what I have been told by her I can’t help but wonder what the hell our bill money is going towards when we pay it because it obviously isn’t going into updates to their network or systems at all. If it were this wouldn’t be happening. I understand that running so many miles of some type of cable lowers quality but it shouldn’t cause us to lose connection at all especially with what we have for Internet. We should be solid gold. I’m not sure what’s going on but it needs to be addressed and this needs to be made right. My review would be 4 possibly 5 stars if they could fix this issue either via contacting myself or my fiancé to schedule a time for a technician to come out and look at our devices.

It seems like cable/​internet providers try to out do each other on how terrible of service they can provide. All I was trying to do was move my internet service fro one apartment to a new building apartment 4 blocks away. After 6 phone called (I mysteriously got hung up on multiple times in between over a dozen transfers) Not to mention I spent over 2 hours on hold over these calls… only to find out that because it was new building and they already had (2) apartments set up-​that they would have to open a ticket and let me know if the service was available and if it was then a new ticket for each apartment is needed. There is no question that some of these service centers are not in the US, but a least require some basic aptitude by these agents instead of referring to me a (Yes, I understand Mr. Mike etc… they are terrible.

If you are looking for a quality cable service in St Peters MO — DO NOT USE AT&T UVERSE.
I’ve had 3 service techs out over the last couple of months & my cable boxes still lose service WEEKLY!
I called numerous times for a resolve & they send me overseas to a service rep that constantly apologizes (even though they could care less).
To top it off, they have fluctuated my rates with a $ 70 increase then a small refund over the last 4 months.
I used to think Charter was bad but I may cancel AT&T, get Charter Internet, & go ZERO CABLE cuz I’m sick of getting ripped off.
Time to buy a DVR, Netflix, Hulu, & CHILL.

I didn’t think it could get worse than Charter but boy was I wrong. We have lived in our new house for 5 months. We’ve had 4 different days that U-​verse set appointments and didn’t show up, gone at least a total of 1 out of 5 months without internet/​cable since we’ve been here and are getting ready to have our THIRD router shipped to us (A week after they said it would be here). They have provided unbelievably terrible service. The people on the phone continue to claim there is no record of us calling when we’ve called numerous times. I’d recommend sticking with Charter. it is unfortunately the lesser evil.

Programs do not record, as I am typing this, the show I was watching stopped and message came on screen saying, «Network problems have stopped this stream. The program is not currently available for playing.»
This is everyday, and when I contact ATT they make me follow troubleshooting steps that I’ve done so much, that I have them memorized, and to no avail, nothing is resolved.
When I ask for equipment replacement if that is the problem, they say they need to send tech out and that may, or may not, cost me up to $ 200 service charge.
I have less than a month on my contract and I am getting very excited, because my neighbor has Charter pipeline and his slow speeds are 50−60Mbps with 3 kids online gaming, recording shows, while watching TV.
Also, for last year, my bill would increase, without reason, and I would have to call and argue the fact that I got rate locked for 1 year with confirmation number.
Charter will cost me $ 720 less per year for superior service.
If you have the options, do NOT get UVERSE.
You WILL REGRET IT, as I have.

I switched to AT&T U-​verse a little over two years ago because of a prank phone caller. AT&T is the ONLY phone carrier that can trace phone calls reliably enough for the police even to consider following up on, and I wanted to keep my number. (The police just kept recommending «Change your number!» as if that could stop a stalker!)
Ordered the most economical bundle AT&T had available and it was fairly reasonable — around $ 125 monthly before taxes. That’s phone, Internet, and U-​verse TV. Jump ahead two years, and the monthly bill has crept up to around $ 250 because my contract has expired. The Internet drops fairly often, so I called AT&T to see what I could do to reduce the bill. «Oh ma’am,» they said, as if they were dealing with a time-​traveler from 1956, «you won;t find better rates anywhere, and our Internet never drops.» Well, finally by downsizing to a U-​verse package with fewer channels, I was supposed to save around $ 20 a month. The next bill, however, had gone up to $ 270. (That’s $ 20 more, as if I wouldn’t notice!) Again I called AT&T and was told that the rate was actually higher, because I had «changed to a different bundle.» WTH??? The best that AT&T could offer me was to move back to my old bundle at $ 250, but they would throw in 90 days of free premium channels. I passed.
Move ahead a few weeks and I’ve switched to Charter. When everything was connected, I called AT&T to disconnect, and suddenly they could offer me my existing package at $ 97 (two dollars less than Charter) «to keep my business.» Well, they had already LOST my business! Too little too late.
I wasn’t sad to get rid of Charter several years ago. They have their issues as well, such as the fact that they bill every four weeks (not once a month), which means consumers pay 13 times a year. Hate that. However, everything works, the Internet actually seems to be slightly faster, and I don’t have to deal with AT&T’s steep version of bill creep anymore. That’s worth a lot. Once you’ve been with them for a year, let the gouging begin. I really dislike AT&T’s sneaky tactics and they way they lie when it suits them.
