Since the day I first picked up a tool as a little kid, I’ve always had a passion for fixing just about anything and everything. If it was broken, I would always take it apart and fix it. Most of the time, I ended up biking to the hardware store for a tool, part, etc. When I was a little older, I had the chance to work in construction. I took every day as an opportunity to learn more about construction and the tools of the trade. My favorite memories were when my boss and I would go to the local hardware stores to pick up supplies. So what did I do when there wasn’t any construction work, I went my local hardware store (Jerry’s) and got a job. Soon after I started, I was working on the sales floor helping people find things and solutions to problems. This only reinforced my passion for fixing things and helping others and I been doing it ever since.

If I could give this place a zero stars I would! Do not go there I am warning y’all!
I just left this place with a lightbulb that needed to be replaced the only bulb I had mind you!
And the clerk broke that bulb apologizes I am sorry it was an accident!
I spoke with the manager that said the same thing
What are you kidding an 8.00 bulb and he breaks the only thing I have to try to get another one!
Never once offered to replace it for free since they broke it. I hope they go out of business… No one breaks bulbs by accident and does nothing for the customer!
Can you imagine what they would do with your stuff???
And he wanted me to buy the new one from them… I laughed myself out the door on my way to Home Depot! At least they CARE about my business!!!

These guys are my heroes. I am off the Yellowstone tomorrow with two bikes and for some reason a major component on my bike rack was not tightening down the way it was supposed to. Three of them spent an hour with me going over options until they finally got to the best solution and in the end it cost me $ 5 in hardware. Thank you thank you thank you!!!

Horrible experience going in to try to buy a snowblower. The old woman at the counter acted as if I was really putting her out by askin a couple of questions. I was ready to spend money, but will gladly spend it elsewhere. I get more customer service at Home Depot!

I am not much into hardware stuff, but I was seriously impressed with this place.
While I do not know if they have all the right stuff at the right prices, the people who work here are amazing.
All I needed was to make a copy of a key, and I had a couple of questions about a shower head. Boy, these people know their stuff and they can make you a key in under a minute. Everyone was very friendly, knowledgeable and I felt that my business was valued here.
Maybe one day when I do get my dream house, I shall come here for all of my do it yourself projects around the house!

First, I have to say, I just LOVE hardware stores! For as long as I can remember, there has just been a lure that I can’t resist. Whether it’s an itty bitty corner store, or a big box chain, it seems there are endless aisles of odds and ends that never cease to piqué my curiosity and at the same time satiate my need for a multi sensory experience. I mean where else can you play with bins of nuts and bolts, grab your zillionth flashlight, and a pick up quick snack? Anyway, it had been a long day, and I was at the end of my errands, with a crabby baby… or should I say I crabby mommy… and needed a few of the ‘odds’ for my daughter’s science labs and was dreading having to hunt through aisles and aisles of merchandise just to find the obscure assortment of things we needed. So, I pulled out my phone, opened my Unilocal app, and searched nearby and ended up at Jerry’s. I walked in the door, was greeted by the cashier, then asked by another employee if he could help me find something, so, I rattled off the list, and he took us around aisle by aisle, showed us our options, and found every last thing we needed! It was awesome! As much as I love hardware stores, I was more than glad for the helpful staff and quick trip.

Let me start out by welcoming Jerry’s to their new neighborhood. I was a patron of the Miracle Mile location and was saddened that MM let them go, but was thrilled when I heard they were moving a few blocks away from my house. I hope their new landlord goes out of their way to keep them happy.
Selection and service are the hallmarks of a good hardware store and Jerry’s excels in both categories. The store is well lit and not so large (ie. like HD) that you can’t find anything. My one suggestion would be that they redo the aisle signs that hang overhead, as the white lettering on light gray background is difficult to read, maybe black on gray would be better.
I’ve never gone in to Jerry’s and not be asked if I needed help to find what I needed, but at the same time I have been left to explore the new store and not been rushed, just the way I like it.
I’m so happy Jerry’s is in the hood!

I am one of the few that are excited about the move to the old Almsteads location on Cedar Lake and Louisiana.
These guys are the best, forget about the big box retailers. Seriously — someone will answer your questions and they have all kinds of things I can’t find at Homer D. Poe even if they do have it… things like fasteners… try finding a 8⁄32nd in half inch at a big box… how about a bronze bushing… Come on people they have BUSHINGS…
I think I know why they call that strip mall miracle mile… cause of all the sheet they stuffed in that old hardware store.

All the selection of a home depot but with tons of helpful, friendly service.
They practically attack you as soon as you come in the door to see how they can help you! This can really save a person a ton of time and get you on your way to that weekend project. They are also very helpful with advice if you are someone (like me) that needs it.

First let me say that I am not handy. I don’t take on home repair projects and I don’t build things in general.
However…I really like hardware stores. I always have. I love the aisle of little drawers that hold all the various types of nails and screws. I love the racks of oddly-​shaped pipes and duct work. I love the old guys that work there who have helped enough women that they are not the condescending jerks you might expect them to be.
Jerry’s is just this place. Not very large, but big enough to service your lawn mower, pick up some weather stripping, have a replacement for your washing machine’s wigwag, offer advice about your slow shower drain and hand you a box of pop corn while you shop.

Who is this «Jerry» and how is he able to run such a terrific hardware store? I’ll be honest, I have never actually gone in asking for «Jerry» himself so he could be there like some maniacal puppetmaster pulling the strings of his workers but I digress. Been going here for 4 years now, I have started to seek out «Pedro» as my trusted advisor when I’m there (everyone is really helpful) and he has helped me with everything from installing a new drain in my sink to dealing with my gutters and downspouts (he even has patiently looked at pictures I have taken on my digital camera in an effort to communicate my problems — he nodded mostly as I babbled and was able to get at what I needed even if I did sound like an idiot.) 9 times out of 10 I walk out of there with everything right, that 1 out of 10 when something doesn’t work I am able to return whatever I bought even if I opened the package and clearly tried to put the square peg in a round hole. This place feels ‘your local hardware store’ (so cliché) from the old timers shuffling around the aisles to the pimply-​faced high school kids running the cash registers. Home Depot ain’t got nothing on my boy Jerry.

Thank god for Jerry’s Do It Best. There’s always someone there to help answer your questions. Unlike Home Depot where you have to hunt someone down and even then they respond with a glazed eye and slack jaw. Home Depot makes my brain explode. Jerry’s also has random stuff like Science Diet food for dogs and cats, but whenever Im in a bind I automatically go to Jerry’s to fix it.

I’ve been a home-​owner now for a few years (and NO we are not finished «fixing it up»)…I must admit I had NO IDEA what I was getting into when I made this «responsible investment». If I were handier (or richer) maybe I wouldn’t have the perpetual headache that comes with ownership. You know what I mean, grandiose ideas on how stripping wallpaper, remodeling a kitchen, fixing grout etc. couldn’t be all that hard? Well, what I’ve learned is that I have remodeler ADD. I get terribly bored with a project about 1⁄3 of the way through. I attribute this to a lack of «detail skills», like paint prep work. I married my mirror in this category, btw. But let me tell you, if it weren’t for Jerry’s, my home would have gone to hell more quickly than it takes us to mow our yard (about 2 weeks on average).
At Jerry’s, they walk you through all your potential/​current disasters. They are both supportive and helpful during emergencies, like when your husband suddenly feels his skillset is on par with a licensed plumber and (surprise) it’s not.
Without you, Jerry’s, I’d be broke or divorced.
