Business Owner

While living in Beijing, Andy and his wife, Jillien, furnished their apartment with furniture he bought from street vendors. His eyes were opened to the treasure trove of reclaimed furniture available in this developing country. Moving home pregnant with their first child Andy and Jillien started importing containers of farmhouse antiques from rural China with the help of their friend network. Through a friend Andy met Chad, a fellow Minnesotan who lived in obscure western China — doing what else but collecting farmhouse antiques to sell wholesale.

In December of 2013 Andy and Chad officially partnered together to open Ciel Loft and Home, with the goal of bringing authentic, design-​quality furniture to the market at approachable prices. They have done that and the market is responding. Chad and his wife, Yoon, continue to live in rural China with their 5 kids, searching for treasures. Andy and Jillien live in Hopkins, MN with their now 4 kids.
