Adoramos a nossa degustação na Rombauer. A atendente foi muito cordial e divertida. Fizemos uma degustação de cada, a com vinhos normais e com a seleção especial. É legal pois vc vai comparando os vinhos. Ficamos sentados na varanda, com uma vista linda dos jardins e do vale de Napa. O jardim é outra atração do local, lindo, florido, super bacana. Agradou em cheio!

Nice views, amazing staff and very educational. He definitely took his time to explain every wine and made sure we understood everything he was saying. They have a garden where you can take a walk and they are pet friendly. Definitely coming back!

By far my favorite and most visited winery in the valley. There’s something about this quiet and cozy location that just puts me at ease. Their wine is excellent, especially their Zinfandel and Chardonnay. Become a member to get free wine tastings at every visit and get on the schedule to try the latest and greatest releases. My only wish is that I had a bigger wine cellar!

Visited this place because I absolutely love the Chardonnay and have never been to this vineyard, the tasting room is pretty small, unfortunately we didn’t get to tour the venue but loved the wine and left with a few bottles. Can’t wait for them to expand.

Enjoyed a day of wine tasting here w my brother and his wife and daughter. The place was all decked out for the holidays w poinsettias everywhere.

We enjoyed a stellar visit to this winery for a tasting and will be back! We enjoyed an easy check-​in at the gate, and found our way to the tasting room with ease. Love the views and the facility, beautiful gardens and our wine tasting experience was simply awesome.
When we arrived, the tasting room was fairly busy and we were helped initially by Christian who was also serving a large party. So, Susan took over and boy are we glad. Not only is she very knowledgeable about Rombauer wines, she is full of wisdom and knowledge of the history and practice of grape-​growing and wine making. We were lucky to enjoy a very enlightening as well as fun flight tasting with her and I highly recommend her when you visit!
What else I really enjoyed was since we were the last customers that day, we were lucky to be able to meet the Rombauer family dogs and Mrs. Rombauer herself, who is a very kind lady.
Overall, from start to finish, we enjoyed a fabulous wine tasting experience, brought home a couple of special bottles and look forward to our next visit!

Let me start by saying I LOVE THEIR WINE. But the two stars was one more then I wants to give. The location is amazing and it feels like an serene and peaceful retreat. It is understaffed and the small tasting room too packed and loud which is not relaxing or enjoyable. We had a reservation but beware. If you don’t you may drive all the way up, park and walk in to be told there isn’t room. The wine and view keep me coming back but the experience leaves much to be desired. And did I say I LOVE their wine?

I’m a huge fan of Rombauer wines and have been to the winery several times. I think they suffer from their recognition to an extent and that is the reason for my three star rating. Each time I’ve gone into the tasting room to get a tasting there is always a long line which is fine but the people doing the tastings always seem hurried and uninterested.
My last visit was no exception to my overall experience. I took my girlfriend to wine country for her birthday and told the person who was doing the tasting why we were there (this after nearly a 30 minute wait to get a tasting). No acknowledgement that this was a special event. We did two different priced tastings to get the full experience of what they had to offer so we could decide what we wanted to buy. We were hurried along and finally ushered out the door to the balcony with our last taste so they could close the tasting room. Fortunately we mentioned we wanted to buy wine so they sent us with an order form and then came and checked on us about twenty minutes later to see if we wanted to place an order. If the setting was not so beautiful and if I didn’t love their wines so much I’ve have left without spending any money and not come back.
The winery sits in a beautiful setting and there are walking paths and plenty of views. The Zins they make are beyond compare for my money and taste. I simply wish Rombauer would take a moment and think about the customers who are visiting because they love the wine and the winery and focus more on the experience and less on shuttling people through like they are herding cattle to slaughter.
I understand that there is limited room to taste but maybe, based on the number of people who come and taste combined with the price of tastings they could afford another area to taste, or at minimum a few more people to help with tastings, I’m certain their fans would reward them with greater purchases.

We did the Proprietor Tasting for $ 30. The 2009 Cabernet was one the best! Would return for their Cabernet and/​or Chardonnay! Make a reservation for tasting!

This was our second winery on the tour. Even though our friends were members here and we had a reservation, we still were only served out on the deck and didn’t get a sit down, personalized wine tasting. Dale was very helpful with our tasting but he was stretched pretty thin. He did a good job of explaining the wines, with the little time he had. I liked the Fiddletown Zinfandel the best. I think that they are known for their whites and especially their zinfandels. The views were beautiful from the deck. The grounds are nice too.

LOVED it! Every moment of it, from the greeter once you turn into their driveway to check in with your rezzie, to the valet guys, every staff member we encountered and most importantly their famed Chardonnay.
I don’t love or even like white wine, especially Chardonnay — I’m definitely more of a Sauvignon Blanc fan but I loved their Chardonnay after anticipating this stop would be a favorite for my boyfriend, it turned out it was a highlight of our recent trip for me.
The grounds are lovely, the tasting terrace is casual, relaxed vibe with a beautiful view and I didn’t spend much time inside the tasting room. They are picnic, and pet friendly. I enjoyed taking a stroll down into their sculpture garden and finding their cellar door with the best year of all time on it, 1982 :)
Service was great! Even after I unintentionally broke a glass on the patio. Mazel tov! It was my birthday celebration, so cheers to me!
I very much look forward to returning and the next time I’m at Bristol Farms I am definitely picking up a bottle.
Their tastings are also a fraction of the price most others are in this region.

I have my sister to thank for introducing me to their wine. She received a bottle of their chardonnay as a gift and was instantly hooked. When she came to visit of course we had to make the drive for a tasting.
A reservation is a must! You cannot even drive up to the vineyard (they check you in at the bottom). The tasting room space is indoors and outdoors. Inside was a little packed, so we opted to sit outside where we were promptly greeted by Dale. He explained the flights (we chose the $ 20 classic one), which is a tasting of their (as of Sept. 27, 2015):
2014 Carneros Chardonnay
2012 Carneros Merlot
2012 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
2011 Diamond Selection Cabernet Sauvignon
2013 Rombauer Zinfandel
Every single one of these wines was delicious.
Every.Single.One.
I have been wine tasting to many, many wineries, and I have never been able to write that I enjoyed all of the wines.
Of course we joined the wine club (they have many options). What I love about their wine club is you can add more wines to your order — and the shipping doesn’t increase!
I also love that they sell half bottles of their Carneros Chardonnay; Carneros Merlot; and Rombauer Zinfandel.
If it wasn’t so far (an hour and a half drive for me), I would probably go once a month. Martha and Dale both made our experience wonderful.
As an added bonus, they have areas where you can have picnics or just relax and drink wine. They have great views, that are very peaceful and makes for a great date.
My only complaint — I am not a fan of dogs due to allergies. But if you are one of those people who can’t leave home without your dog, this is the place for you. While there, we encountered five dogs, both in and outside.

Of the dozen or so wineries I visited on this trip, Rombauer was rated by my entire group as the least favorite experience. We had an appointment, were all fans of Rombauer wines, and were immediately wowed by the beautiful views.
Our anticipation was soon squelched however. Opening the door to the tasting room inside reminded me of the subways in New York during rush hour. Packed tight and deep. We took our tasting outside, and our assigned host was doing pours for our group of eight, and for at least two other groups. After each tiny, small, room temperature taste of our whites, we had to wait too long for the next pour, and the too short descriptions, as he rushed back to other impatient tasters.
After a couple of tastes we were all hoping the wines would get better, but they never did. I wouldn’t say I thought any of them bad, but didn’t like anything enough to consider picking up a bottle. My group left disappointed, without anyone buying a bottle. We were sort of scratching our heads wondering what went wrong. In the end, the wines could have been colder, the pours better paced, the place less crowded, and the temperature outside less hot.

By far our favorite wine that we have ever encountered in Napa ! Their Zinfandel is full bodied with a sweet finish which we love !!
The tasting is best enjoyed if you make a reservation.
If you have time or think of it ahead of time, stop by s deli and definitely take a picnic or just some cheese and crackers to sit outside and take in the view or enjoy the romantic pathways and sit under the shaded picnic tables and stay cool.
Just watch your step while sipping as it looks to be a long drop for a landing as this winery sits up high on a hillside.
We are big fans and became members last year so filling up our trunk with 6 cases this year put our adult son In a tight space during his 2 he ride back to his house in San Jose… he didn’t mind sharing the backseat with all of our luggage especially when the end included a few bottles from us…

Rombauer Vineyards, July 7, 2015: 11:00 AM Appointment
It’s my understanding that Rombauer is a ‘by appointment’ only place, and I think this is a marvelous thing.
You may not agree, but they’ve only got parking for about 8 — 10 cars and I’ve seen them on the weekend trying to negotiate dozens of cars. This does not even get near explaining how unpleasant the tasting experience is when you’ve got 35 people jammed into the pace of your kitchen. Take a moment and think about that. You’ve travelled a long way to enjoy the Rombauer experience, and you’re left wanting a little time and attention from the wine expert serving you that day.
There have been occasions when I’ve felt like I was groveling asking for the next taste. The server is doing their best, sometimes working with two or three different groups concurrently, and they are trying to ensure that all are having a pleasant experience, but it’s just not possible with the type of crowd that can gather at Rombauer. I need to end this rant, but please know that having an appointment is a great thing. My hat’s off to Rombauer for this change.
How’s the wine? I’m in the club and my wife and I enjoy the chardonnay quite often, but on this visit we’re here to try out the Sauvignon Blanc. It turned out to be just the kind of Sauvignon Blanc that we like. It’s fruity, easy to drink, and welcome on a hot day. It’s not yet in distribution and so we left with four bottles.
While we’re there we go ahead and taste the red line of wines, heck, who are we to not make sure we taste everything. Rombauer Zins are on the sweet side, and so be sure to know that. They are worth tasting, but if you’re used to a big bold Zin, this may not be the glass of wine you’re looking for.
I did really enjoy a bottle of wine called Le Meilleur du Chai, and if they’ve got it open, try it. It’s a red blend, and it is tasty…
Also, be sure to walk the trails on the hill. They feature a variety of flora and it is a great opportunity to get away from the crowds that may be at the winery. There are even a couple of conveniently located picnic tables that you’re invited to use with your Rombauer wine purchase.
Rombauer is making some wine that’s become very popular, the room gets crowded, but it’s a stop worthy of your consideration, but do plan ahead.

A very special place. This was my first visit — taken there by a friend who is a wine club member. The grounds are quite special — up on a hillside amazing gardens with the tallest dahlia’s I’ve ever seen — roses, myriad of gorgeous plants and flowers all nestled in a long pathway with picnic tables and artwork and sculptures — so lovely.
The wine tasting is appointment only to keep the crowds down but there were people served who had not made an appt — probably to be gracious and because it wasn’t a super crowded day.
They are known for their Chard which is lovely — flavorful, slightly oak, vanilla — yummy — bought some. We also tasted a newly released Sav Blanc — also lovely. And two incredible Zin’s — bought those too.
A funny side story. They had copies of The Joy of Cooking so I asked what the connection way. The woman who put together and published that iconic cookbook was the aunt of the owner of the winery — same last name. She had a husband who when he died left her $ 6K. He was a big time home chef. She loved his cooking and recipes so she took ½ of that $ 6K — all the money she had — and put together this cookbook… and the rest if history! Pays to take a gamble sometime.
I highly recommend a visit to this lovely winery for the view, the gardens and the lovely wines!

I can see why this vineyard is very popular. Their wines are great and they have an amazing dessert wine called the Joy that reminds me of ice wine from canada. You should definitely try it or buy a bottle. The bottle itself is also very pretty.
if you do stop by here, they have complimentary valet and a nice balcony by the tasting room that overlooks the valley. On your way out, definitely don’t miss the secret garden in the back. They have a variety of flowers and it’s super cute.

Really cute garden out back with a nice view that overlooks the valley. We went in early June when many of the flowers were in bloom, making it extra special.
They are usually reservation only, but it’s not always enforced. It’s also valet parking only, but it’s free (besides tip).
The wines we tasted — sauvignon blanc and cabernet sauvignon — were both very high quality.
Also, DON’T FORGET to take the wine glass home with you! We weren’t sure whether we could, but after reading a bunch of Unilocal reviews, looks like you definitely can. The glasses are quite high quality too — making a nice «ding» sound when you cheers. Makes great souvenirs.

Come for the wine. Stay for the view.
Hands down, one of the most beautiful views of Napa valley. They also have a delicious chardonnay, if it is the white wine you seek, and worth the price for an occasional wine. I did not know they have a vineyard in El Dorado Hills. But know I do and so do you. Check ‘em out, and make sure you call to schedule your tasting, because that’s a thing now, apparently.

The day is surreal. My mind is in a funky stupor but, in a calm and peaceful way. As I look out from the balcony into the surroundeing gardens filled with blooming roses and wildlife, I can’t help but to think, «Oh how blissful this feeling I fill is.» This is what life is truly about.
Enjoying this scenery along with some great wines while engaged in intelligent conversations with friends and people of like mind. These truly are the «good olé days» I’ll take to the grave.

Great wine tasting experience and totally worth joining their club — they have options for every budget and wine preference.
The tastings are by appointment only and they are nice because you taste at an individual bar — so no bumping shoulders the group next to you, and you have the staff member’s full attention.
$ 20 for a basic tasting and $ 30 for a tasting of wines only available there (5 tastes each). It’s nice to get one of each and share with your companion. We joined the club so our fees were waived and we can also bring up to 2 more people with for free tastings as members. SCORE!
I was impressed with all of their wines, even the cabernets which tend to be too tannic for my taste. These wines are heavy on the lushness and fruit. Full-​bodied and complex. We ended up leaving with every kind of their dessert wines (late harvest and ports).
The grounds are spectacularly beautiful, with an outdoor (covered) tasting bar and bistro tables/​chair along the patio with views of the mountain and valley below.
Very unpretentious yet high-​class wines. Can’t wait for the April release!
