I discovered Polar Pete’s on my way to Menard’s in St Croix Falls. I stopped and picked up crab legs and shrimp. The next time I stopped and the selection was very limited. The last time, and I mean the last time, the selection was none. I can’t believe a seafood store did not have any lobster and only on package of king and snow crab. Note the dates of the two 5 star reviews.

I usually have a great experience. Today was different. I was told after asking for a product that she(the worker) was the only one working and was too busy to look for it in the back. Only 2 customers in the store. Their meat is delicious however the store isn’t fully stock until Thursdays and items are usually unavailable until then.

This new store is absolutely fabulous! I am so glad I saw the one review on here and another on Tripadvisor when I was looking for a place to buy ribs to take up to a friend’s lake place. I bought Swank’s ribs, and a rub from Yah Butz, both local places, one from St. Croix Falls, the other from Siren. They have marinades, rubs, lots of local meats and not so local frozen seafoods. Then on one side of the building is a wonderful custard stand with sandwiches. I had just a taste of custard which was eggy and rich and wonderful and a very good cup of coffee as well! if you are looking to shop Local, go here!

I stopped in to grab a bite to eat, and was pleasantly surprised! Bright, clean and welcoming, it’s really a one stop shop. I enjoyed a Chicago dog and some chocolate custard for dessert. Both were worth a trip back. After lunch, I browsed around the myriad of local products they offer along with many hard to find items like frog legs, alligator, sashimi grade tuna and gorgeous king crab legs. I left with some breakfast sausages and a pint of custard, but I’ll be back!
