If you are from out of state expect that your birth certificate, U.S.A. passport, social security card, state official id (from the state you are coming from) utility bill, bank statement and checks (with your new address) will not be sufficient.
Come early in the day, expect to come back a few times as the rules might change between visits.

I know being curt is kind of their thing, but one of the employees at this office in particular, Mr. Rue, was over the top rude.
I was there out of the goodness of my heart, accompanying an international student to this place for his driver’s license. I don’t speak his language, but I am more patient with his broken English than most Americans, so I occasionally help him communicate when he needs the help.
Overall, this is the slowest SOS office I’ve ever been to. Spent nearly 3 hours there. The women were nice enough, I guess. But then we got to old Mr. Rue.
Mr. Rue demanded original documents from us in such a fucking tone. Um, hello? It’s policy for you guys to hold them until after the written test is finished. One of the women had the passport, etc. I pointed that out, and she came over and handed them to him, while apologizing to us by saying he’s old. After he had everything Mr. Rue continued, «Ain’t nothin getting done til I have the original documents.»
Mr. Rue was confused by everything and kept walking away to consult with other employees for long periods of time, giving us no explanation for leaving.
OK. So then it’s time for my friend to take the road sign test. Mr. Rue yells at me to turn around (as if I’m going to help my friend cheat). I turn around and he snaps, «ALL THE WAY AROUND!» I just start walking away because I don’t need to be talked to like that. Mr. Rue is like, «don’t walk away, stand with your back against the counter. You’re gonna translate his answers for me.» First of all, my friend’s English is not that bad, second of all… I’d be translating ENGLISH TO ENGLISH. I tell him, «I’ll do my best» and Mr. Rue says, «you better do your best or he ain’t getting a driver’s license!» In the rudest assholiest way. I really hated being yelled at. I wanted to walk away, but didn’t want to abandon my friend. I stayed and did as I was told because I’m a good girl. And I just kept thinking, «I’m wasting my day in this awful place and I’m getting absolutely nothing out of it.»
