Way over priced & small portions. This visit I ordered a cajun chicken sandwich & it had strips of chicken, not even a full chicken breast. In the past I’ve had the seafood ravioli & it was still frozen. Their pizza is good. I’ve been here several times & the service is always terrible. I kept going back because I want to like this place & I thought food & service would improve but after this last visit I won’t go back.

It’s really not so hard to get here. From US-67 between STL and Alton, you go 18 miles west under the railroad tunnel, around soybeans, past the swamp, over some pretty bad will-wreck-your-car-in-the-dark potholes, through the tall corn, into the dust, between the trucks, and stop before you splash in the water. Because it really is at a marina on the river. Then you go inside, past the kitchen, and out the back door to the deck/patio. We were there to listen to the Robert Perry Band. And dance. And drink beer. And eat fried pickles, fried cod, and fried potatoes slathered with ketchup. I didn’t intend to ingest so much, but there was the river, and the band, and the dancing, and the hot sun. I guess I worked some of it off, and the music was very good. Just don’t drive to/from here in the dark. Compared to the River Road on the Illinois side, the journey here is a maze, and, at a few points, parts of the asphalt road are falling away. I was glad I was in my SUV.

Awful service, food was overpriced and very small portions(my 5 yr old could make better pbj) and the only thing redeeming was the outside deck. Save yourself the aggravation and try somewhere else.

Not the most incredible service in the world but I will say they have the most AMAZING lobster mac and cheese. I seriously died and went to heaven after having this. It was so freakin’ good. And the views are just great. They have a huge deck that overlooks the river and with a beer and good friends, you just can’t go wrong. All I have tasted from here is the lobster mac and the fried pickles, but man oh man, that lobster mac is at the top of my list for favorite mac and cheeses ever. The pickles were super tasty too. Just make sure you get that lobster mac. No matter how many calories it might be, no regrets.

This place is simply amazing! We accidentally came to eat here once and it has become our favorite restaurant ever since then! The atmosphere is awesome! The food is wonderful! The staff is so nice! I just love this place!

I understand that it’s busy at the boathouse, especially the last nice weekend of the season. I get it, it’s busy. The owner was incredibly rude to us when we arrived. She was aggravated over our open containers(she didn’t offer to replenish drinks, just threw my full beer in the garbage), and told us to get back in line even though we were going to the patio bar and had friends at a table on the patio. Waited almost two hours for our food order, it showed up as we were leaving. They comped us a pizza to go which would have been fine but I don’t eat pizza(which is why I didn’t ORDER pizza). The whole thing was a super mess. I get being over powered an understaffed but the owner just rubbed me the wrong way. I won’t be coming back.

This place is a little gem hidden on the Mississippi River. Not really hidden, but who honestly goes out here for food? It is the best place to eat after a day on the boat. They have a family bar atmosphere with a nautical theme inside and a huge deck to watch the sunset. Their fried chicken night is the best and they honestly have my favorite Mac and cheese ever. Creamy, saucey, with corkscrew noodles and crunchy bread crumbs on top oh my. Apparently they have lobster mac some night of the week as well. To say it simply, their food completely outdoes their décor. It is better than any sports bar and has the most relaxed atmosphere, still with great service. Their only problem is not making themselves, their food, etc more known to the public.

This place was awful. We had a terrible experience here. I witnessed a red headed waitress not wash her hands in the restroom. I can’t remember her name but she was wearing pigtails. My husband then collapsed into one of the picnic tables outside on the bottom part where you eat. The table just broke in half. The Waitress we had profusely apologized, but no manager ever came over and I think the owner was there and never said a word to us. The food was good, but we will not be back.

2014 is going to be a great year for The Boathouse. Wonderful new additions to there drink and food menu, service was excellent, and as always, the patio has a beautiful view! It’s a great place to bring your family and friends. We will keep going back, very impressed!

Nice location by the river with outdoor seating. I believe this used to be Sharkys. The waitstaff was very nice and I enjoyed everything I tried. The pretzel bite appetizers were good and their grilled chicken sandwich special with mozzarella cheese and balsamic on foccacia was fresh and delicious. It is a very casual place and if you sit in the main dining area, they allow smoking which is a bummer. For a casual meal, it’s a nice stop.

The boathouse food & deck is located just minutes from new town in St. Charles. The food is fantastic, as well as the entertainment every weekend out side by the tiki bar. A Fantastic view of the Mississippi river and the Harbor were the restaurant is located. There is nothing like this in St Charles or St Louis to compare.
