Damico Paving & Sealcoating

Called to get an estimate on a removal and repaving of an asphalt driveway. Quote was about average, but had seen the work they had done on a neighbor’s driveway and it looked promising. Signed the statement of work and got the permit from the village. Was expecting the project to be done in a couple of weeks.
A couple of weeks go by and I don’t hear anything from them, so I called. The receptionist couldn’t look up the status of my driveway, so I had to wait for the guy to call me back. He tells my they’ll be there in 2 weeks.
Two weeks go by. They don’t show. Not only that, there’s zero communication. At least tell me what’s going on. I’d be more forgiving if they called and said there are delays. Nothing. So I had to call them… again. I complained about all of it. I said I wanted them out there in two weeks or I was moving on. Guy calls me back again and says they will be out to my house in a week. Surprise! No shows again. And, of course, no communication. My last call to them was to complain one last time and to tell them I was done.
Needless to say, I would not recommend these guys. Fail. Big time.

I had Damico come out to sealcoat my very sad-​looking driveway after I had seen another one in the neighborhood looking soooo good. I was not home when they came, but they did an excellent job even though my driveway really needs to be replaced. This was done in July of 2015. It still looks good! I’m a little concerned they have so many bad reviews but my experience was very positive.

The salesman is slick. They don’t follow thru and do what is promised as far as crack sealing etc. they were here 15 minutes tops and charged twice as much as other companies. We had tire marks after waiting 48 hours to drive on it and were told not to turn the wheels of our car. Lol. Very smug and unprofessional. We will not be using them ever again.

Well the work they do is good but honestly the guy that comes out to give the estimates and his I dont need you, you need me attitude ruin it for the whole company. There are alot of companies out there, I guess he feels his does something the others don’t. Do yourself a favor and find one of the others.

Called about getting my driveway sealcoated. The woman who answered spoke so fast and said that I could call back in April or May to get a quote. No thank you. I will go elsewhere, to someone who is willing to get the job done at the customer’s convenience and with better customer service skills. Don’t waste your time on this company.

I hate writing bad reviews because they can really impact a business badly, but in this case I feel I have to. I contacted Damico to bid on seal coating over 20 (possibly as many as 40) driveways in our subdivision. They submitted proposal that won them the bid. In their proposal they made statements that they did not live up to and they are not willing to remedy the situation.
The first issue was that the proposal stated that they would «Apply one heavy coat of commercial coal tar sealer with heavy mix of slip resistant aggregate.»
When questioned about this afterwards since no one could see anything resembling a «heavy mix of slip resistant aggregate», their response was they use a «fine sand» and if you run your hand over the driveway you would be able to feel it. Sorry, but that is and was the texture of he driveway, not a new «heavy mix of slip resistant aggregate».
The second issue was that they stated «Because most driveways have many cracks we recommend no crack fill but a heavy sand mix with about 1 lb. of sand per gallon is recommended. This will fill in most large cracks. We use a heavy mix for a more even look.»
Not only did they not fill in «most large cracks», even small ones were not filled in. None of the cracks have an «even look» in fact they are all more obvious now than they were before. The only thing they did was to spread the sealer across the driveway and cracks and let it seep down into the crack. Once it did that, there was no attempt to make it appear «even».
The same sealer was used on all surfaces. Not a «heavy mix of slip resistant aggregate» on he surface and a «heavy sand mix with about 1 lb. of sand per gallon» in the cracks.
While the driveways look nice now that they have been sealed, I wish I could post pictures to show how bad they made the cracks in the driveway appear. Previously we knew they were there. Now it is so obvious that some residents are calling another company to redo the work while still others have stopped payment on their checks and still others are contacting the BBB.
Would I recommend Damico in the future, I think you know what my answer would be.
