History

Established in 2008.

While holding full-​time jobs and/​or attending Lindenwood University courses, the Duree’s (Rick, Linda, and Robert) realized that the students were in great need of a local «used textbook store» store in St Charles, Mo.

After completing surveys, projecting financial statements, and implementing market trials, the Durees family found that the demand for used textbooks was sufficient to open a «brick and mortar» business and so they took to the task. They scouted out locations and as «luck would have it» — they found a storefront directly across the street from the campus.

After many weeks of renovation the «Book-​X-​Change» was then open for business and readily supplying local university students with affordable learning tools in their pursuit of education. Much of their exposure and today’s popularity is from word of mouth by their loyal patrons (the students).

The store is run For Students and By Students.

While working and attending Lindenwood University, Rick Duree realized that students greatly needed of a local «used textbook store» (and later textbook rentals) store in St Charles, Mo.

After completing surveys, financial projections, and market trials, the family found that the demand for USED textbooks was sufficient to open a new business. While scouting locations and as «luck would have it» — they found a storefront directly across the street from campus.

Many weeks later the «Book-​X-​Change» was then open for business and readily supplying university students with affordable learning tools in their pursuit of education. Much of their popularity and success is from word of mouth by their loyal patrons (the students).
