Southern Oaks Inn

Wow is all I can say. Took a few days off and headed to St. Augustine. Found this place through trivago. It got 8.5÷10 stars so I made a reservation. The staff was amazing, very friendly, the room was very clean. Lamenant floors, 2 queen beds, big screen tv on the wall. I brought my little dog, at checkin they provided a list of pet friendly attractions, restaurants and vet services for emergencies. They also have a fabulous fenced in pet park! So helpful. And, to start the day the hotel provides breakfast, not just bagels, cereal & coffee, but pancakes, eggs, sausage, grits, etc. a $ 10 meal anywhere else. I’ll be going back in the fall and will for sure stay there again. Only one thing, the pool closes too early. It would be nice after a long day out in the city & heat, to relax in their lovely pool!

I’ve stayed in a number of hotels in st. augustine and this one is my favorite. Very clean, very friendly staff and the breakfast was delicious and well-​prepared. As long as they have rooms available I will be staying here every time I go to st. Augustine.

I did not have a good experience at this motel. When we checked in to our room someone was already in the room we were given a key to.
The house keepers did not look professional to put it politely. The first day they cleaned our room they threw away my husbands retainer. The general manager then proclaimed they would do nothing to resolve issue and didn’t even offer an apology.
The next day they threw away my daughters makeup wipes. Beds were very old and hurt my back. Wouldn’t stay here again.

Over all my stay at South Oaks was plesent. Location was great. Close to the historic district, few minutes from beach. Target near by. Cvs and walgreens across the road. the breakfast was one of the better motel breakfast iv had. Lots of hot choices and was flaverful. Two reason for 3 stars. First is that our king bed was horrible. Worst nights sleep in long time. I had to go buy a mattress pad. Second, when I was checking out and complained about the bed it was like I never said anything. No eye contact no I’m sorry, nothing. I stood there politely. Said something again and and said I had to go buy the mattress pad and still nothing. They are lucky I still give 3 stars.
Know what… 2 stars it is.

EXCELLENT value for the money! Very clean, comfortable, roomy. The guy at the front desk is great — very friendly and helpful. Location is easy to get to, and once you’re here, you can walk to where you want to be. Compared to nearby hotels in the same price bracket, you really can’t look elsewhere.

Recent remodel gets an A+!
I will return to this motel.

I’d give this place 5 starts, but hey, it’s old. The room was very tidy but not quite spotless, and the breakfast was ok but not stellar. I did enjoy my stay though, and you absolutely cannot beat this place for the price!

So I just checked in here, let me just say YES! Great location and the room is very clean with two queen beds both very comfortable with four pillows each. Large flat screen TV on the wall microwave fridge coffee maker iron blow dryer desk AC free wifi and free breakfast in the AM. It’s quiet despite being near a busy road and the staff have been extremely nice and very helpful. Will definitely stay here again!

I read reviews for this place before I booked it through TripAdvisor and it was absolutely the best bang for your buck. The rooms are up to date with lovely furniture and a flat screen TV. It is right outside downtown St. Augustine, about 2 miles away from all the main attractions. It also includes free wifi and free breakfast buffet (which was delicious). This place is great for families and I highly recommend staying here for your next trip to St. Augustine. I agree with the other reviews, when you look at the outside, it looks like your average cheap motel/​hotel, but it really is beautiful inside.

We chose to stay here after reading all the great reviews. I was concerned after finding out all rooms are dog friendly but was pleasantly surprised that the room was extremely clean. I watch hotel impossible and always worry about the cleanliness of the room. I gave this room the hotel impossible clean check. I even checked the filters which look new. The hardwood floors make the room look great but off course also means no dust or even dog pee in the carpet. The pillows looked nice although I will say the white sheets had a few stains from possibly someone’s mascara. The bathroom was one of the best I’ve seen in a hotel. However, We found out the first morning that the awesome complementary breakfast is no longer complementary. They will serve free coffee but none of the food is free. This place is someplace I would definitely stay again especially if traveling with the dogs because they have a fenced in area to let your dogs potty and get some run around time which is great!

Stayed here several times. The rooms are clean and upgraded, staff is very friendly. It was a bit noisy in the room we stayed in this time, but not usually. It’s in walking distance from downtown if you don’t mind a bit of a walk. They also offer free breakfast, which is nice. I would say this hotel is a good bang for your buck in a decent location and no parking fees!

This was my first trip to Saint Augustine and this was the best rate I could find in such a short time (same day, that morning actually). I do travel a lot whether its a friends birthday celebration, vacation in other states, or even for my rugby teams when we have tournaments… I have some experience.
For the amazingly low rate, we had an awesome room! Super clean and organized, a mini fridge, a microwave, a mounted tv, and wooden floors! I felt like I might’ve somehow got an error in my booking by how great the room was. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Also, the complimentary breakfast was more than just a muffin (like my boyfriend expected); they had the works set out for us. I was even happy they had coffee cups with lids to go. I found that to be thoughtful.
I am definitely staying here again.

We stayed here from Wednesday 24^th to Friday 26^th June.
The desk staff were extremely nice and very helpful. Our bedroom was clean, and nice. My only complain is that the beds are NOT Queen sized, but full beds.
The breakfast buffet was a hit with our sons, and the banana bread was delicious.
Southern Oaks Inn is really good value for money. It’s near restaurants, supermarkets and the town.

Great hotel and very affordable! Our room was very nice and clean. Everything looked brand new. King size bed was very comfortable with plenty of pillows. Mini fridge and microwave in the room was a big plus! The free breakfast in the morning was way more than I expected and was really good! The location was great. Very quiet, not very close to all the people and noise, but a 5 minute drive to everything! I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely be back on future trips.

The BEST place in St. Augustine for anyone on a budget, who appreciates a great continental breakfast, and that doesn’t mind biking down town or taking the trolley.
1. It is completely updated with contemporary décor and it is still very clean and neat.
2. You can have your pets here and they have a pet park.
3. There is a trolley stop there which is great, and it is a short bike ride to down town.
4. Breakfast is PHENOMENAL and the best complimentary breakfast I’ve ever had. Hot eggs, with biscuits and gravy, fresh coffee and people there to serve you. Banana bread, hard boiled eggs, waffles and more. Missed the bacon though. :(
5. Quiet… except when people drag suitcases by your room.
6. Downside: It is a bit far from downtown unless you want to bike or take a trolley. It is not walking distance to much so it’s a bit far out.
I have now been here twice and love it! Great for the person on a budget. The best you’ll find for a fair price.

. First, if you’re thinking of booking this hotel, book it straight through them vs.
. We’ve had numerous problems with
not booking the correct room (ie had reserved two double queens when we clearly requested king).
Beautiful laminate floors, comfortable bed and a very decent breakfast for ‘free/​inclusive). The room was very clean & comfortable… the Ac was working almost too good. Hubby loved the temperature, I was freezing.
The front desk staff was extremely helpful, courteous and genuine. This hotel does allow pets, so if you have allergies you might want to ask for a non pet room!
If you want luxury, you’re not getting it in a room at this hotel. If you’re looking for a 2 — 3 star room you will be very happy (as we were).

I love yo travel and visit hotels. I’ve always said my dream job would be for someone to pay me to travel around the world visiting hotels and going to concerts. If you know someone willing to pay me to do this holler. Anyways I am here to tell you about my most recent adventure. I had the opportunity to stay at the Southern oaks inn in the beautiful St. Augustine Florida recently. This hotel exceeded my expectations. From the outside it doesn’t look like much but oh my the service is top notch.
On entering we were greeted by the sweetest ladies who made check in easy and got us directed to our rooms so we could start exploring. Our rooms was wonderful very spacious and clean. Plus it came with two queen beds which was awesome.
The room was fully stocked with all the amenities one could need. From towels, to bathroom supplies to my much needed coffee.
Plus the bathroom was clean with no mold growing anywhere. that truly impressed me. It’s all about the little things.
The outside area was also clean with plenty of parking space. the pool was nice it even came handicap accessible with chair lift something most hotels don’t think about. also because this hotel is pet friendly they had a dork park for walking your dog.
In the morning you are offered a wonderful breakfast. Kimberly our cook and server rocked. The breakfast is better then I have had anywhere it was a full course breakfast of eggs, meat, potatoes, grits, bread, bagels, cereal, coffee, juice and lots more.
I have to say this was one of the best places we have stayed at in St. Augustine. Everything was of high quality and the staff was very helpful and friendly. If you ever stay in St. Augustine look them up and oh ask for Caroline at front desk she can tell you where to eat and what to visit she really knows the area. This is definitely on our must return list of hotels.

The rooms were absolutely beautiful. Hardwood floors throughout the room and tile in the bathroom, it wasn’t what I was expecting at all. When you drive up it look like a generic Days Inn or Holiday Inn, but the similarity ends there, because inside the rooms is where this hotel shines.
One top of the great rooms they have a complimentary Country Style Breakfast, and it was amazing. Eggs, french toast, biscuits and gravy, bacon, and sausage. I was expecting your normal continental breakfast you usually get from hotels, which was also available. You will never need to look for breakfast when you stay here.
The only down sides, was that the shower head was low flow. Also on the bed there wasn’t any quilt or comforter. I like to keep my hotel rooms a bit colder, which is amazing after a long, hot Florida day of sightseeing. But in the middle of the night I had to wake up and turn the temperature up. I know it’s kind of my fault but the room was in need of something more than two sheets on the bed.
Also you can get pick up by a shuttle for the Old Town Trolly, which I suggest you take. Which is amazing because the parking situation in St. Augustine is atrocious and expensive.
I will book this hotel for any future trips to St. Augustine.

How is there only one other review for this wonderful little motel! We decided to do a quick escape from the city and drove up to st. Augustine’s and landed in this motel by chance. What luck! Is is immaculately clean, and recently remodeled. All the décor is updated and new and the floors are wood. Sooooo wonderful! No stinky old motel carpets! It’s run by a lovely local family and they are extremely helpful. They also cook a giant breakfast! Eggs, pancakes, bacon, sausage and so much more!
This place was way more than we expected to get for the money and while not on the shaft of downtown, close enough to be convenient! Highly recommend.
