Missions Lawn and Landscape

I am very pleased with the service I have received. Vel and James have been a pleasure to work with and provide top notch lawn care and landscaping.
They are very particular and have treated my lawn like it was their own.
They recently installed a patio and firepit, paved my flower beds added additional landscaping and sodden some dead grass areas. They even fixed my irrigation system!

Prior to hiring Missions, I spoke with Vel Thomas, owner. I wanted to ensure that they maintained plant beds and shape plants (even knock out roses), hand weed near plants (as to not kill them) and would push mow my tiny lawn because due to drainage issues and yard stress I cannot have larger mowers used. He said yes therefore I hired them. This was not the experience I received however after hiring.
I caught them several times using a large stand on mower when I was home (car in garage). This has killed my lawn previously. It was sneaky for them to go back on their agreement. If they did not want to push mow it would be a better business practice to be honest and say no. When I finally confronted the landscaper Stephen and then Vel Thomas in person on consecutive weeks there were flimsy excuses as to why they were using a large stand on mower as this was not the agreement. First, Vel assured me they would resolve then emailed the next day that they no longer work in my area of World Golf Village. Coincidence? I believe they did not like that I was home to monitor work and caught them. PS, they were also not mowing my fence line leaving a great home for snakes that live in my area.
They did not touch my plants for months either. They were so overgrown and looked wild. I normally receive compliments on my plants and front lawn so this summer, receiving none was a first. I finally questioned him as to when they would shape plants because I could not stand the unsightly look of them anymore. They were not even blooming as normal due to not being shaped. He said they only do hedges?!? This was not what I was told at hiring. They trimmed my plants in late August though he said this is not what they normally do in their service. This wowed me as all lawn services maintain plants and even trim branches up to 8−10ft. This was unbelievable.
All I wanted from this company was the service that I was paying for. Mow, edge, blow, weed and shape plants and hedges. This is pretty basic service that should not require follow up. I was paying a set price from them and equivalent to all other companies.
I thought that I could donate to Christian missions while hiring landscapers. That is difficult if they act like regular work is out of the ordinary.
I thought they were trustworthy not to have customers sign contracts. Really, it is as much for our protection to sign one for service expectations. Unfortunately, this is not a world like my dad’s time where a word and a handshake are enough. Sad.
