Staff is amazing! I love their breakfast sandwiches. The menu can be overwhelming and the food quality is on the lower end but overall, great place!

Highly recommended. This place is almost surprisingly trendy, ticked away in the storefront of this small mining community. Food was enjoyed by everyone in family. Kids liked the gourmet hit dogs. Older son enjoyed burger on flat bread. Wife loved the grilled pimento cheese sandwich. I had a croissant and parfait from the amazing pastry case. Milkshakes are exceptional. The décor is cool, especially the slabs of wood for table tops. Staff was a friendly bunch. Next time I’m in the area, I’ll be back.

We have been coming to DT’s for years. It’s never disappointed. Counter service lunch foods are always fresh. Delish sweet treats and superb coffee! Don’t miss if you’re in Spruce Pine.

I’m from New York and I need coffee besides McDonald’s and Burger King(ehhh) and this place is great. Super quick, super helpful, great options(more than any other coffee shop I’ve ever been in) and over great coffee. I only drink coffee black and there dark roast was perfect. Def a fan. Also is soooo cheap. Barely 2 dollars for a medium coffee that’s so good!

The food is way too expensive. I ordered a meal and a creamy frozen latte and the total was $ 17 something! No one wants to spend $ 17 on lunch.

Fantastic place with amazing food and staff. You will not be disappointed. I have been going to DT’s for years. The staff has always been helpful. I would recommend Trish’s Bounty or French Dip sandwich. They are always delicious. With the atmosphere, you can take a little stress off during lunch. Check it out!

Thanks to the nursing department at Mayland CC, my colleagues and I were directed to DT’s for a quick bite to eat. It’s too bad we needed to get back to Charlotte in a bit of a hurry, or I’d have stayed and gotten comfortable. DT’s is the type of place I spent much of my twenties and I couldn’t help but reminisce. I wish I could pick this place up and move it to my neighborhood. The food and service is great! You can always tell when owners really care about their business by putting customers first. You can see how it all falls in line by the quality of food and service you receive at DT’s. The inside is warm and friendly. It’s comfortable and a place I might stop to collect my thoughts and reorganize my through-hike or a place I’d come to do homework and engage in interesting discourse. Try: Picking up a menu and ordering one of their wonderful soups or sandwiches

This made our drive to Spruce Pine worth it. We decided to leave Asheville for a day and finally go driving up toward Spruce Pine and Boone, since we’d never been, and I’m glad we came during the slow season. Most of town was closed because apparently that’s something that one normally does on Monday, but this place was hopping. Every person behind the counter was amazingly friendly, and you know immediately that this place is staffed with people who truly care about the well-being of the business and its customers. The food was outstanding, the drinks were delicious, and I’ll be going back every time I pass through.

Great sandwiches and wraps ~ served quickly and with a smile. The egg salad sandwich, dressed with bacon and honey mustard, was a nice surprise. Slaw is okay; but do not miss the potato salad! Sit at one of the many unique 4-toppers or relax on a comfy couch. DT’s offers quirky, coffeehouse atmosphere in downtown Spruce Pine. ~ Be sure to check out the working food elevator around the back(look for the restrooms), delivering lunch daily to the law and accounting offices above. A wonderful choice if you’re downtown and in a hurry. The coffee smells good, too.

My group and I slipped into the city of Spruce Pine, NC looking to conduct some resarch for our class… we decided to find a local business to have lunch that’ll be easy on our wallets and have good food., but we really didn’t know where to go. While debating about where to go, there were a couple of locals sitting outside of our car eating and having a good time infront of a resturant. We decided to ask them where to go and they directed us to this small business. As we walked in we immediately noticed how popular this place was. The business had customers who were old and young as well as buinessmen and not. The atmosphere was livid and it seemed like this was the place to be in this small town. I ordered the Blue Ridge Roast beef with potato salad for under 7 bucks and was more than satisfied. The sandwich comes stuff with roast beef and bacon, along with Gouda cheese, mayo, and tomatoes on a sourdough bread. If your looking for a good place to hang out with friends and eat some good food for a low price than look further.

My friend and I checked this gallery out. This place is opened since 10 days ago give or take. About 15 potters are working in the building, so all the works are handmade by these people. I talked to one of the fifteen potters and she said that we are brand new and they plan to expand works and change the decoration a little bit. I found many beautiful works in there. When you are passing by Bakersville, make sure you check this place out. If you like fine arts and pottery, you are going to like this gallery.

My friends and I couldn’t have found a better place to stumble upon for our lunch. While looking for a place to eat in Spruce Pine we accidently ended up parking in front of this café and the locals all gave us high recommendations to try it out once we got out of the car. To say the least we were pleasantly surprised by what we were to find in the restaurant. This shop provides a new, neat vibe with great places to sit and hang out while enjoying your food or coffee. The restaurant is definitely alive as many people are going in and out and with its free WIFI access it’s a great place to just hang out. As far as the food goes, I ordered a classic Nathans Hotdog as I had never had one before. However, the meat was just a little too thick for my liking. But my friends seemed to love what they ordered in their sandwiches. Because the atmosphere in the shop was so great and the staff was incredibly friendly I would for sure say I would be willing to go back and try something new.

Directed by enthusiastic locals and Unilocalers we decided to check this place out. A place of wood and stone and lively atmosphere, it instantly got my attention. The crowd in there is very varied-old frequenters, younger people, businessmen. Each brings their own voice to a nice buzz of activity going on in this place. There are also some amazing prints and painting on the wall by the local artists and photographers that adds another layer to this experience. now to the food. Staying within the single digit price, I got a full-fledged lunch: a soup of the day(Loaded Potato Soup) a salad and a sandwich with it and hot tea(they actually have a selection of teas, unlike many other place we went to before). They also have a good selection of desserts, that my friends found amazing. Waiters are attentive in a personal way and very lively, perfectly complimenting the overall impression of the place. My food arrived really fast too, so 5 stars is the least I give to this place!

Excuse my language here… but…I f*ing LOVE this place! I remember this place when it opened on Upper St. as a hole-in-the-wall ice cream, smoothie, milkshake, candy, coffee place in 2002. My best friend and I would often come in here and then one day two years later, it’s closed. We were so sad and couldn’t figure it out. That is, until we saw a sign that it was being moved to Lower St. in a bigger space! It even still has«Macy’s» inscribed where the welcome mat would usually go. When they finally re-opened it was completely, and I mean completely renovated. It looked like an over-sized living room with couches and bar tables. Art hangs on the walls for that warm cozy feeling. There are always clean restrooms and there’s a room in the back or large parties. They also have a computer with internet for patron use. Delicious, fresh deli food and soups. I can’t stress enough the«fresh» part. It’s nothing like a chain restaurant like Subway. Their Italian Sodas are amazing as well as their coffee drinks. Screw Starbucks(but the Creamy Frozen Latte is the equivalent of a frappuccino). Oh, something not on the menu? Tell them and they’ll usually whip it up. I usually get their Iced Italian Latte with a shot of vanilla(not on the menu). I have spent many hours in here with friends chit-chatting away. While I used to live in Spruce Pine(thus how I watched their transformation) I now live in Houston, TX but still make it a point to come in here when I visit. This is the meeting spot when I come into town to share pictures and stories. DTs has also employed many friends I know, so it really is a family hometown place.

If the TV sitcom Friends was taped in Western NC, it would have been done here. They have delicious sandwiches, sides and of course gourmet coffee. They have all of the expected coffee bistro drinks, plus teas, ice cream, shakes and delectable desserts and pastries. They also offer daily specials such as a soup of the day, and Philly Steak and Cheese sandwiches on Friday. There are hand crafted wooden tables, a bar like counter top with stools or multiple comfy over stuffed chairs and couches to relax in. They do have one computer available for Internet use to paying customers, so you might have to wait a bit. I don’t know if they still offer this, but at one point the owner was offering a knife cutting skills class in the evenings, which I would have taken had I had the time. They also offer bagged ground coffee, t shirts, mugs and artwork by local artists for sale. They are very active in the community, offering brochures on area services like Health Care, Care giver or maintenance services, local school events and basically anything else that goes on in the quiet town. The only negative thing I can say about D.T.s Blue Ridge Java is that they are closed on Sundays, but I guess even God had to rest one day.
