I am an employee of WFHM, however, I do not work in the mortgage lending department. That said, I inquired about the steps I would need to take to secure a mortgage with one of the brokers here. I am in the process of repairing my credit(I was stupid in college) and wanted to know if I could qualify and if not, what I would need to do to qualify. I dealt with 2 different brokers, Travis and Bob. They were both knowledgeable and encouraged me to apply and helped me understand what I would need to make a mortgage work. At that time, I did not proceed with a mortgage, but I can say that I received good service. Accessibility– this is a secure building, so a non employee would need to check in with the receptionist and then the broker would come or and greet you and take you back to a meeting room. Definitely not good for walk-ins. Setting an appointment is easy though by phone or using the website(even though I’m an employee in the building, I inquired about an appointment using the website.) Staff– the brokers were nice. Not overly friendly, but not cold either. They took the time to understand my goals and needs and didn’t make me feel embarrassed about my past credit issues. They were overwhelmingly encouraging about the situation and not in a way that made it seem like they were just after a sale. Location– this is almost out of Springfield so it’s not super convenient, but it’s easy to find since it’s on a main road. There are only 6 visitor parking spaces, but they are usually open and the lot is large so there is plenty of parking. Verdict– There are easier places to find and use in town, however, since this is a large company, there are options available that some smaller local banks can’t offer. Conversely, you won’t get that local underwriting touch, but your broker will be with you to walk you through every step up the way. Definitely worth the stop when mortgage shopping. 3.5 stars rounding to four because I know the mortgage products are sound based on friends that have WF mortgages.
