I went here on a whim. My godsis and I said that we wanted to price two very small pieces out. We stopped first in Arlington and for two minor pieces (a lock and the word «resilience») they were trying to charge us each $ 120. We called Way of Ink and spoke to Joe who said they were insanely busy but after letting him know how simple the items we wanted were. Could we be seen? He said yes and we headed over. Joe was super chill and laid back and listened to what we wanted. I’m a severely indecisive person and he wanted to ensure I was 100% sure prior to continuing.
Long story short, we came out really happy and appreciated him giving us the time we needed although only two of them were at the shop! Great place and love my new lock. Will come back if we ever feel «on the whim» again!

First off, my sister and I went there to get matching tattoos, small Roman numeral tattoos we got there around 740, knowing they closed at 9 we knew they might be finishing up tattoos and not taking anymore clients for the day. When we arrived there was about 6 employees just sitting around in the front talking and on their phones, we told them what we wanted and they were rude about it saying «it’s simple but we close at 9 we don’t really have time for it» mind you there were no costumers in there at all they were just sitting around. We said we would come back but they said very snobby like «people schedule appointments 2 — 3 weeks ahead». I just politely said okay and left. Overall I feel the staff was very rude. I do not recommend this place!

Duong is a very quick skilled and detailed tattoo artist that won’t charge an arm and a leg to get award winning tattoos. He loves what he does and it shows. The rest of the staff are some cool guys as well. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this shop to anyone. But if your looking to get work done by duong he is usually booked for a couple of months.

First off, I never ever write a review. Duong is an amazing artist. I appreciate his honesty and not just all about the money. The price is so much cheaper than other places in the area. I promise u won’t regret it coming to him for a custom piece. I am def coming back to him to a whole back piece in the near future.

Place is okay. I got my first tattoo here. The outline is solid, but the inside faded very quickly and in a spotchy manner. I only picked one of the japanese kanji on my arms– so that is my fault. But the rest peeled in almost the same manner without me even touching them. Healing was painful too. I’ve been going to another artist down in Woodbridge since and have never had these problems… the guy I’m seeing is actually gonna touch up the one I got from Way of Ink.
Regardless of what I said above though, I really did like the atmosphere. Duong– who did my tattoo was a very friendly man and charged me a very reasonable price. It just didn’t work out for me. My skin is very sensitive and I think I just needed someone with a slightly lighter hand.
I won’t tell you not to get a tattoo from this place, because I do think Duong has a lot of talent, it’s just that some tattoo artists mesh with some clients better than others.

I love Way of Ink. Gotten tattooed and pierced here and had great experiences both times with Daniel. Can’t wait to go back!

Very positive experience. My wife and I walked in at about 2 on a Sunday to get an old tattoo covered up. We were greeted by Joe and he set our expectation that we were going to wait for a while. He was designing a piece for a first timer as we walked in so we were able to see his patience and report with the client first hand before moving forward. While we were waiting a couple ladies walked in and one of them wanted to add a small butterfly and a couple stars to an existing tattoo. After he finished up he suggested that the the lady get hers done before my wife so he could spend more time on her design and take his time to make sure everything was perfect. He knew he was going to be working late and did not make us feel rushed at all. The design he came up with covered perfectly, had very clean lines and was exactly what we were looking for. While my wife was getting tattooed I had a nice conversation with Joe, listened to some good music and felt like he really cared about doing a great job. The shop was clean, well lit and super laid back. I will definitely be coming back to have my work done.

I can’t tell the silhouette of a dove from an eagle, and neither should you. However, this dude, Duong, my tattoo artist, spotted what I believed to be was a silhouette of a dove, and told me it was an ugly eagle. Searched out eagle silhouette, and there it was, the same freakin eagle on my arm, under google’s images results. A bit stupefied in an inexplicable baffle — at myself or the tattoo artist I last went to, I only thank God I ever met Duong. He will be in charge of covering up my tattoo as well as every single tattoo I will get, for the rest of my life. But less of that, more of my experience:
Environment: friendly.
Space: not spacious — not that it matters, really.
Professionalism: exceptional.
Appointment timing: limited within a month or two of a notice. (it was so hard to schedule an appointment with Duong, I had to skip class in order to get it done. I’m glad I did.) So if you’re thinking about making an appt, call in wayyyy ahead.
Duong is a boss. Well, he is the boss, but he is also boss ass hell at what he does. You can tell the man is super gifted through the peculiar decors of the shop’s bathroom, which is designed by the man himself. Not only that, his vision in ink defies the tattoo artists I’ve encountered. A lot of tattoo artists focuses on the profit amount of a tattoo rather than the outcome. However, Duong is not one of them. He pours his heart into all his artwork. And, if he isn’t spending time with his family, he is sketching or drawing. His mannerism is welcoming and amiable: I arrived half an hour late to my appointment but he was super nice about it and scrutinized the tedious detailing of my tattoo. His handling and inking is gentle. Aside from his intellect, his passion is the utmost outstanding attribute to his overall quality. I’ve never trusted a tattoo artist more than I trust Duong. Definitely, he is my go-​to tattoo artist.

A lot of my friends go to Duong and i do as well! i love his work. his prices are affordable, the quality of his work is amazing, i just finished my back piece (will post a photo) and it took about 5 hours which is not bad at all! my boyfriend basically got his whole sleeve done with duong and it looks amazing as well.
his room is so fun filled with those little gadgets that move their heads side to side lol. he has a TV in the waiting and in his room so you or your guest can watch while you wait.
the bathroom is pretty neat as well! they have really cool different toilet paper holders lol i know random but it’s a great concept.

Duong is the man. I appreciate all his hospitality when I’m at the shop. He’s so loving and caring and just the best person ever. I am very fortunate to meet him and ever since he’s been doing my tattoos for me. If you meet him. He’s a very lovable man. All in all just a generous and awesome dude. Thanks Duong!

Went here yesterday to get my friends belly button done and to get my lady part done. I have several piercings and my friend wanted me to go first so she could see how it was done and not be so scared the piercer was rude and kept saying no we are doing hers. She was super nervous and trying to calm down he kept getting mad at her and trying to rush through she ended up not getting hers done due to her nerves and his rudeness. I decided to go ahead and get mine he rushed through mine and also completely did it wrong hitting a blood vessel and to high up. When I called today to try to get them to give me a refund the girl on the phone was really rude and telling me no. So I waisted $ 80 and I wont be returning DO NOT GET PIERCED HERE!!!

Joe is a super douche. I think he does it to make up for his sub par tattoo work. Shaky lines, horrible saturation, no contrast, just a bad artist. I’ve never seen him tattooing anyone’s he’s always standing around. Now to the owner Duong. He is a average to below average shop quality tattooer, but much better than joe. Henks very hit or miss. People of Springfield have no idea what good art is, so they think Duong is good. I my self didn’t know what was possible last year and I got a lot of work fr Duong. I am now 6 laser sessions deep and about to get a beautiful sleeve from a real artist in the UK. Go here if you want a average tattoo to below average tattoo nothing more.

Duong is an amazing artist. I got my first tattoo here, along with my cousin, who also got his first tattoo here. We both walked out of here really impressed with the quality of the work and design on our bodies. Trust this man, as he’s a really good artist, and he can interpret your ideas into beautiful pieces of art.

I’ve been to the old and new Way of Ink. The old one a piercing and the new one a tattoo. The new one is definitely new and improved. I got my tattoo by Duong and he did an amazing job! I get compliments on it all the time. I’m not too sure about the other artist at the shop though. Yes Duong does wonderful Asian tattoos but he does others as while; mine a prime example. He was definitely easy to work with and their prices were great. Definitely recommend him to anyone!

Daniel did such a good job on my new septum piercing at Way Of Ink!!! I had it done before and it bled and hurt a lot but when I went to get it done a second time, it barely bled or hurt at all! I have a natural small bump inside my nose and Daniel made it look perfect and not crooked at all! I highly recommend getting piercings done at this place! Also, I believe his name was Jason, gave great advice on the aftercare and great places to buy solid gold septum jewelry! Everyone was really nice and down to earth. Thanks Way of Ink! :)

Giving it 2 stars because I love my tattoo. The guy who did my tattoo was a total asshole. He didn’t talk to me and when he did he was making fun of me. He made fun that my tattoo was «basic» and he said «what are you gonna get next an infinity tattoo?» I wasn’t comfortable I wanted to run out after he was done. Didn’t too him. He’s an asshole don’t go to him he’s the younger white guy

I dropped in for a lip piercing.
This business is pretty okay. The place isn’t too bad.
The piercers were about 20 minutes late. I didn’t make an appointment because piercings are just walk ins.
The piercer was a girl.
Literally, this girl did the piercing and said okay 60 bucks. bye.
She didn’t give me instructions on how to clean it or ask what kind of stud i want or anything. it kinda sucked cause I had to google it all on my own.
Save yourself the trouble. I went to another piercer that was way better and who informed me way more than she did and Also my labret was way too short.
She pierced fast but I felt like I was rushed out. When she had no one waiting.
Not very professional and the stud was not in the sanitizing bag.
Never again Way of Ink.

Came here because a friend of mine has had some of her tats here by a guy named Duong, who she said is really good. (He was in the process of giving a tattoo when I came in.)
I’m giving only two stars because the others working here were not friendly at all. Especially the female. Quite rude. It was my first time in there and I really felt confused and unwelcome.
I have 3 prior tattoos done at a shop in dc where the staff and atmosphere were much better.
On the plus side my tattoo was done quickly and because of where it is placed the artist told me I can come get it touched up free if it happens to heal out. Only a fifty dollar tattoo, which is reasonable since it wasn’t large.
It’s a small shop and I liked the décor. Probably wouldn’t come back here for another.

I was DEEPLY DISAPPOINTED with the tattoo I received on my birthday, back in February 2011. The tattoo was excruciating, the healing process was excruciating, I’ve NEVER had a tattoo hurt so bad and take months to heal. I’m scarred for life. It looks like a branding tattoo, it’s horrible. This tattoo was the beginning of a tribute half-​sleeve, to my mother and my uncle, incorporating my favorite flowers. They’re survivors and I love them dearly. I saw them a few weeks ago and never ONCE mentioned my tattoo, it’s embarrassing. The prices were great, but, now I’m paying a lot more to have my tattoo redone, completely.
I’m sure a lot of people will disagree with me, since the majority of people are giving a five star rating and have nothing but good things to say about this shop. I have the tattoo to back up my review, and it’s not pretty.
Considering my tattoo is in CLEAR VIEW of my daily activities… it annoys me EVERY single day! A constant reminder of a place that doesn’t care about their customers, some… but not all. I just wanted to clarify a few things. Maybe I can save a few people from years of agony and grief.
First of all… Thanks for nothing, Brian… you have no business tattooing anyone, EVER! Also, thank you Duong for not even TRYING to fix the problem. If you’re so proud of your cover up tattoos… why haven’t you offered to cover up MINE? I was a paying customer at YOUR SHOP. Trust me, when people see my tattoo, I let them know, (believe it or not) it WAS done in a professional shop, giving them the name of the shop. I have nothing good to say about your establishment. You came highly recommended by my hairdresser… and you failed, miserably. I will (once again) be on the hunt for someone willing to take on this scarred MESS, at the DC Tattoo Expo in January 2013.
