Wannagetta Pizza

Went back after being out of state for a few years to find this spot is under new ownership. Was sad not see the previous owners, but happy to see the recipes have apparently remained the same. I love super thin pizza with great ingredients and this place is about as good as it gets. Try the calzone, it’s not just a bunch of dough with some cheese in the middle. Same thin crust means more stuffing, less dough. Drizzled with a lovely garlic butter sauce. And they take credit cards now!

We were visiting from out of state and staying at a hotel down the street and stopped by on a Monday night for a quick dinner. We were greeted by Doug and ordered pizza, drinks, and salads. He gave suggestions and was very friendly and welcoming and even wrote a personal note on our receipt. The pizza was piping hot from the oven and so delicious! The salads were equally as yummy and ice cold. We will definitely be back next time we are in town.

Great thin crust, ask for it well done for the burnt edges! I think this is the best in Springfield.

This place is fairly close to work and home, so we’d been eyeing it for a while. Stopped in after work and got a friendly greeting right upon entering.
Over all, everything here was good, the pizzas were done to my taste, and the service was friendly and not overbearing. It is not my absolute favorite pizza place in town, but I would come again.
The only thing we didn’t like was the fiancé ordered an Italian sausage pizza, her fav. Everything was cooked right, but the sausage had a very strong flavor of sage to it. It’s one we both associate strongly with breakfast sausage, not Italian. But to each his own. Big picture is that this is a nice little neighborhood pizza joint.

I chose this pizza joint for lunch on a work day. This restaurant is located in a corner of a strip mall, perpendicular to the main strip of the mall. Signs boasting lunch specials greeted me in the parking lot and directed me where to go.
For me, first impressions are always best. I approached the glass front door (typical strip mall door) and it looked like it had not been cleaned in months. Food stuck to the glass, finger print smears, etc. I actually hesitated before touching the handle. When I went in, there was no sign telling me to seat myself or to wait to be seated, so I approached the counter and asked. I was instructed to sit wherever I liked. The décor was local, which I really appreciate. Local artists were on display on the walls. Otherwise, the small room boasted a tile floor, several four/​six tops and one or two pub tables. Seated about 50 I think. My table was wobbly, which I absolutely detest, so I fixed it with the miraculous and ever-​versatile Sweet ‘n Low packets. It was also dirty and the server noticed me side-​eying it, so she offered to wipe it down.
The server (young lady in her teens) approached me for my drink order. She returned my drink a few minutes later and then began to walk away. She was pleasant, but seemed to lack confidence and had no charisma. An order taker; not a waitress. I told her I was ready to order. I ordered a 10″ Supreme pizza and a dinner salad with Sassy Sue’s Greek dressing. My salad arrived and the first thing I noticed was that it had sliced cucumbers. It’s perfectly fine to serve full-​cut, sliced cucumbers with a salad, but if you do, you need to include a knife. I don’t know that many people enjoy eating slices bigger than a poker chip as a whole and looking like a cow while trying to chew them. The cukes are a complement to the salad, not a full-​on component. My first bite was a surprise and I could not hide a grimace due to the tartness of the Greek dressing. Then, the follow up of strong, undeveloped herbs in the dressing rounded out the unpleasant bite. This was followed by discovering a romaine lettuce stem in my salad. The dressing was extremely tart and the flavors unblended. I couldn’t finish the salad and put it aside.
The pizza arrived in good time and I felt it was cooked properly with some heavy brown on some parts of the crust (which I like). Maybe a few parts were a little burnt, but I’m okay with that. Not greasy and not over sauced. It’s difficult to cook a thin crust pizza without burning it, yet getting the toppings cooked through. It was cut into square slices, which I also appreciated. Heavily topping’ed pizzas are much easier to eat that way. I was able to cut it with a fork (still crispy though) or eat it with my hands. My only complaint about the pizza was the onions. I like onions, but these were white and not red, and incredibly strong and large for the bite. The smell and taste completely overpowered the flavor of the pizza as a whole.
Back to the server. She checked on me once and asked if I needed anything, hands behind her back. On her last trip, she brought my check while I had half a pizza sitting there. It was clear I was finished (moved way off to the side). She never bussed anything on the table, never suggested a drink refill, and started to turn away without offering me a to-​go container. I would think that a to-​go container would be a rather regular request with a ten inch pizza being ordered by an individual. She handed me the check and then quickly pulled it back and said she had to fix something. When she returned the check, I had only been charged the $ 8.99 lunch special (which was for a one-​topping pizza only). I don’t know why, but I didn’t question.
Check out is at the front counter and with an iPad type of device and card reader. I’ve never thought these were appropriate for a brick ‘n mortar restaurant. I know they are cheaper for the owner, but show a little permanency and stability for the customer.
I may go back again and give it another shot. They had some great daily specials. The pizza was unique for this area, but the service and cleanliness needs a little attention and facelift.

Great pizza… first time here with two sons, a daughter in law and granddaughter. We ordered 3 medium pizzas and none left to take home. Thin crust was great. Service was good, but waitress was very soft spoken and hard to hear, but friendly and courteous. nice atmosphere. Will be making many return trips. My only suggestion is to offer a thick crust pizza not just available on 9″ only, but medium and large. Other than that… I recommend it.

Best thin wheat crust! Fantastic dressings and a great salad! Staff was awesome! Will definitely be back soon! The house made dressings were fabulous! Great food at a great price!

first impressions: smelled strongly of burnt crust the moment we walked in.
My glass had lipstick residue from the previous user although I’m sure it had been run through a dishwasher.
tried the spinach artichoke appetizer pizza which was a disappointment. The thin crust was not substantial enough to handle the toppings so the whole thing was soggy and yes the edges were burnt.
The entrée pizza was ok but nothing special and again the crust was burnt.
I give them one star for fantastic crisp salad with great lettuces (not iceberg)
I do not recommend this venue at all.

Wow what a great party here at WannaGetta Pizza. Thanks for the great PIZZA and sandwiches. Meat Lovers was fantastic as usual. Thanks David, Sarah and the cooks for making our BNI meeting a great success.

This place is wonderful! Best pizza in Springfield and super friendly staff… Dave, the owner, comes out and the staff are super friendly! We had a large group, and they accommodated our group big time– awesome! :-)

I used to love Wannagetta Pizza, when previous owners had it (John & Sue) however, now I wouldn’t recommend it because of the service. The last two times I have been in, we have had the same waitress, whom is terrible and unfriendly! I called in an order and in the middle to talking she sighed and hung up on me. When I got to the restaurant she was extremely rude to the customer in front of me, then when it was my turn, I paid and when I went to reach for my box, she slid it across the counter and threw a fork on top… while my hand was open! I have been so disappointed in the new service! All I have to say is… the food is good but not worth being treated like junk over! I WANT THE OLD STAFF BACK!!!

The pizza is good if you like thin crust pizza (I personally prefer thick crust), however, they have terrific salads that are served in a bowl made of the same dough they use for pizza. This is close to my work so I go there about once every week or so. The staff are extremly friendly and once they get to know you, they remember your order preferences. They only take cash, which can be embarrasing for people who haven’t dined there before.

Decent pizza, very talkative owner who kept us company as we perused the menu. The service was good and our pizza came out really, really fast. It is a thin crust pizza so that is proably why our food came out so fast.
We started off with a salad with the house dressing and ordered a couple pizzas. One was peperoni for my son and I can’t really emember what the other one as but I’m sure it involved several meats.
As noted by someone else, if you are a cash only place, please please please let your partons know. I get it you might be a hometown joint where most patrons are regulars or know already, but for any out of town folks it can be quite embarrasing when you go to pay and they only accept cash.

The pizza and salad were good, not oh my god call you mom sort of great, but better than a typical run of the mill pizza. They were crazy fast though.
My beef was that there aren’t any signs or notations on the menu that they only take cash. This would have been helpful to know before we sat down as none of us had cash. I feel bad shorting the guy on a tip, but a sign on the door or a note on the menu would save a lot of heartache.
