History

Established in 1990.

Thunderbird II has been a fixture of Springfield for 24 years. Owners Steve & Joe Landers are heavily involved in the community with the business, supporting almost every youth sports program the town has to offer, along with almost every school event happening in town.

As long time employees since 1995, the Landers brothers purchased the business in 2004. Since doing so, they have transformed the business into the superior and unique institution that it has the reputation as being today. A few notable menu items are the «Thin Bay Pizza,» the «Landers Italian Pizza,» the «Speedy Gonzales Salad,» the «Saratoga Spring Salad,» «T-​Bird Fries,» their Wings, Wraps, Sandwich Trays, and Cheesesteaks.

Their pizza is ok, its a greek style with the crispy crust. Good ratio of cheese to sauce. Usually go here for the apps. The wings are good and so are their new rolletes. We had the buffalo chicken and cheese steak rolletes. they are rolled in what seems to be pizza dough. They are not greasy as they look to be grilled rather then fried, Will definitely be back when we want a quick bite to eat. Great location with plenty of street parking. Usually spot on with their time to pick up as well.

The salads are large and tasty, but I was extremely disappointed that my Avocado Salad had 3 measly slices of avocado. Won’t be ordering that again.

Sorry it took me so long to try Thunderbird! I tried the Landers pizza and Sea Isle square. Both were really good! The Landers is similar to Gaetano’s in that it is a thicker crust, cheese on bottom, similar sauce on top. Delicious! The Sea Isle pizza was my favorite. It’s a thin crust square pie with San Marzano tomatoes. Kind of reminiscent of a Grandma Pizza, if you’ve had that. The crust was really thin and super yummy!
I will definitely be back for more of these 2 pizzas!

We order salads from here for lunch at my job once a week. We love the salads. My two favorites are the avocado salad and the speedy gonzalez. My coworkers love the greek, road runner, and I forget the name of the other. I think if you are in the mood for a salad that this place is the best. We also like the wraps.

Great rolls at this place.
The sandwiches in general are flavorful.
I have probably had take out here about a dozen times in the past five years.
The salads are fresh and tasty. Also huge!!! So one is enough for two people.
The pizza is not my style at all. It’s thick and kind of oily.
The delivery is awful. So we don’t do that anymore.
Last pickup they forgot all my sides. No cheese for fries, no blue for wings. So that stunk.
But this place is ok in my book

Very disappointing. Visiting from Maryland. Was really looking forward to a good Cheesestake. Phoned in an order for my family. The guy repeated it correctly. I went to pick it up and the guy behind the counter repeated the order correctly again. I got home and opened up and found that it was totally wrong. I called back to complain and all I got was «Yeah and». Lousy customer service and very disappointing.
PS. If I had gone to Leo’s in Sharon Hill the order and service would have been right

Great pizza shop. Steaks, hoagies, chicken fingers, and the usual menu stuff is always good. Recommend meatball grinder. But what they do for 5 stars is SALAD! Yup, a pizza shop with outstanding salad. Constantly coming up with new ideas and now they will take their salad and make it into a wrap for you. California BBQ is a big hit at my house, Berry nut, coconut shrimp also gets rave reviews. They also do a fantastic job of catering parties. Give them a try!

If you going to close early because you are slow, don’t bother to answer the phone and then be rude. I live around the corner and will not be back. Shame because I like your cheese steaks and wings.

Best cheesesteaks outside of the city. I always stop in whenever I’m in the area. At first I wasn’t use to pan pizza, but now I’m a big fan. Wife loves the salads. Large menu selection, but my goto is cheesesteak with fried onion and american cheese (save whiz for pat’s) and plain pizza. Great wings too.

Make a Thunderbird run.
They’re one of the best cheesesteak spots in Springfield — a friend of mine converted me over to them years ago, and this spot is a dependable standby. A sandwich won’t set you back much ($ 6.50), just be sure to add peppers and mushrooms for best results.
If you’re planning on picking up your steaks, call in your order so you don’t spend too much time there. It can get hot in there!

Over the past 10 years I’ve tried these guys over and over again, hoping the service would change. The food is good. On many occasions me or my wife calls and are confronted with mediocre or outright rude service, my wife was even in tears one night. The owner always tries to make up for it but he really needs to change the service and hire polite individuals. At this point we’d rather go 2 doors down and get somewhere close to the same quality with 10x better service, maybe I’ll try in another year or so:(

I visit here to get some foods almost every week. They have original and excellent homemade foods. The amount is big too. I especially recommend their salad. They are HUGE for their price. Staffs are very kind and speedy. The taste doesn’t change and solid.
The only reason I cannot give 5 stars is because they sometimes forget/​make a mistake on some of my orders. For example, they make 3 fries when I ordered 1 and charge me on all of them. The other example is when the menu says «with celery» or «with coleslaw» but when I get home and then I realize they didn’t put them in my bag. One time, I decided to go back to tell them, then they said «You need to mention it when you order.» Hmm???
But these are just small mistakes. Overall, this is one of the best place to get great foods in Delco. I highly recommend it!

It’s a very solid place in many ways. A friend placed an order for a group of us helping with a move so I was able to sample a few items.
Very good pizza. I did find that if you’re not careful their pepperoni slices will drip grease on your shirt. Some view that as a good sign. But it wasn’t overly greasy.
Very good wings. Just the right amount of kick and crispness.
Very good fries. They have an extra crispness to them as well.
One item that struck out with the group was the chicken fingers. Maybe a little too much breading to chicken ratio. The group of kids in our group did not like them. If you can’t please kids with chicken fingers then maybe it’s time to switch brands. I thought they were OK but not great.
You can’t go wrong with the pizza and wings. That’s enough to give them the approval stamp.

Update, upgrade!
The owner of Thunderbird recently got in contact with me regarding my previous review. In a very classy move he apologized for my experience and offered a few items for our office as a sign of good faith. Also, he explained that if we would like something delivered at a certain time, to please specify that so they know how to handle their deliveries accordingly. I really like when an owner takes a moment to address a customer complaint and furthermore, puts forth the effort to correct it.
I think my interaction with Thunderbird has been positive and the way my complaint was handled was done in a very professional manner. Our office loved the food and we will continue to order from this establishment.
FYI, the hoagie tray (seeded rolls) and the dirty pizza were big hits with all the delco folks.

Brilliant Turkey Hoagies. Seriously they use turkey breast chunks not pressed. Delishious.
