The Shoppes at Gateway

While yes it looks amazing, and Gateway mall desperately needed a makeover I am rather disappointed in some of the stores they brought in. When I first heard rumor of the make over I thought it was going to be like the outlets up in Woodburn. We already had a store like Marshall’s, and Ulta. The shopping in Eugene/​Springfield I feel could use some help and we need better store selections. Some people have to make the drive to Portland if they want cute things. I was also sad to see how the customers treat the newly renovated parking lot. There was garbage and dirty diapers all over the place last Sunday! Definitely Springfield! You would have thought they would have kept it up since it is new now! Just made me sick inside to see this, how people can do this.
All of this being said I do like Marshall’s but my point being we already have Ross’s, and TJ Maxx. And I don’t mind Ulta besides the snobby employee’s, but the same thing. We already had places like this at VRC with less snobby employees. I just hope they bring better stores here.

Love the new layout reminds me of what I left in Florida. Amazing modern layout with some of the old. Can’t wait to see what new stores are still coming :)

Not much here except for a movie theater, Hometown Buffet, Kohls, Sears, and a Ross. Target is on the opposite end and you can’t get to it through the mall. The mall is being remodeled, so hopefully when they are done there will be alot more going on.

Why did all the family places close? This was THE place to go for teens since it opened & now there’s nothing to do for them. A teen could spend the day here for $ 5 and now even Chuck E Cheese closed. The parking lot is hell during the summer because there are NO trees. Turning it into an outdoor mall in Oregon is ridiculous as a notion since it rains for 9 months here. I certainly hope it will somehow miraculously become a good place to go period, and to send kids to. I truly hope they bring back the $ 2 movie theater.

The only restaurants in this place are HomeTown Buffet and a mexican place that i often forget the name of. Everywhere else there is to eat is outside the mall (Buffalo Wild Wings, Carl’s Jr., Applebee’s and the Original Roadhouse grill)
I’m disappointed that the entrance to Target has been closed off.
As an occasional crafter, I am however looking foward to Hobby Lobby coming to Springfield

Avoid. it is basically a Target, Cabela’s, and a Sears with a hard hat area in the middle. No longer a mall at all.

The company that owns the mall has run out nearly all the good businesses (Cinemark 12 aka Dollar Theater, Eugenius, Dragon Vine, and more) in order to bring in bigger businesses (or something like that). They’ve driven all the life out of this mall.

There is a lot of remodeling going on here at the Gateway mall I’m excited to see what the new mall brings!!!
Bigger better things are soon to come!

Wow. I’m shocked that Rouse has let this place go completely downhill! As you’ll note for all my other reviews, I’m always pretty upbeat. But I have to say I’ve been going here for years and the place is more deserted than ever! To top it all off, and making things much worse, Target closed off their entrance so you can’t get to Target from inside the mall, and if you’re in Target you can’t get to the mall. There’s no sign indicating whether this is temporary or permanent or what exactly is going on there. There’s nothing at this mall now it is 75% empty. It has a great gym (International Fitness) and movie theatres (great theatres) and almost no food eateries, a Chucky Cheese and a Kohls (way on the other end) and oh yeah, a Cabelas. Almost all of the smaller store spaces are empty. It’s like a freaking ghost town! Welcome to Springfield.

I think this a nice shopping center for the area it is placed. There are plenty of places to eat just outside and inside. They have to freaking movie theaters and a cabelas that’s impressive too me! Come here just about everytime I’m in Springfield. Good place no complaints.

Very sad mall, when I lived here 5 years ago it was doing fairly well. The area down near Sears was never full nor heavily trafficked but now I would say there is maybe 1 store for every 4 empty spots. It was sad to see my old favorite hangout/​shopping center wither away to almost nothing.

I heard Gateway Mall is under a new management so the Mall well be closing for remodeled. Going to be a outdoor Mall coming soon.

Not even worth one star. What the hell? Is this where stores go to die? There is nothing here… Walking down the main hall and seeing empty store fronts one after the other was bizarre. Hmm… a couple mattress stores, some creepy place where losers go to sit on couches and play video games… I won’t be back ever.

This was a decent stop on my travel up to Portland a few weeks back. The first thing that stood out was the Cabela’s, of which I mainly saw from the freeway and pulled over to check out. I had some time to kill so I figured I’d walk thru and kill some time.
Wandering over the rest of the mall, it was pretty apparent how much traffic this place gets… pretty much. uhh… not much at all. Eh. after wandering a little bit more I stumbled upon some comic book merchandise and some Doctor Who items in a store’s window… Curious enough, I walked inside and the first thing that caught my eye was Jayne’s hat from the TV series Firefly… umm. JACKPOT.
As I continued browsing thru this little store, there was a plethora of Doctor Who items that I had only seen in photos from the internet, but never in person. Getting to see them in person is definitely a tremendous difference and I was, needless to say, completely geeking out.
Other than that particular store. there’s not really much else to do around the mall except the Hometown Buffet, and perhaps the Target. I suppose the movie theatre gets a bit of traffic too. If I travel up north again to Portland. I’ll probably stop by again just for more Doctor Who stuff.

Wow, what happened to this place? Was it always like this? Or maybe I just grew up.
See, when I was younger (much younger) I used to come here all the time with my grandma and I thought this place was just the most happening place EVER. There was a Dollar Store, and a toy store and all sorts of other things that held a lot of fascination for a little kid with a handful of dollars. And as I got a little older I’d come here for the $ 1.50 movies, and I got my ears pierced for the first time at that Claire’s that’s still there.
But then I moved away and grew up and haven’t been here in close to 15 years now. So when I was in town over the weekend I decided to stop by for old time’s sake. I really wish I hadn’t, it was like a little piece of my childhood broke. The place is practically empty now, dark, dingy, more then a little creepy. I stuck my head in a few stores, but nothing that exciting. The Target was not horrible… but the rest of it? Wow. I’m kind of surprised to even find the place still there in the condition it’s currently in…

Zero is the best way to describer this so called «mall». 75% of the business that are OPEN, are crap stores, Candy Tyme’s candy are stale. No one must buy anything at this mall. Most the business spaces are empty. The mall has Two Movie Theaters, the only reason any one comes to this mall is for the movies and or Target.
No Foot Locker or any shoe store.

I dont understand why they call this a mall. It is not a mall what so ever. There are no stores that a regular teen would go to and the selection sucks. I like how there is a target and 1.50 movie theatre. Otherwise they should remodel the mall or get some better stores. I only come here for target… and thats it…

I’ve never heard of half of the stores. Every other store has closed down. The weirdest, scariest people lurk in the mall.
Gateway mall sucks. Plain and simple. Go to the VRC.

and that’s about it. Am I happy with these places. Sure

This place is the Ghost Town of malls. Up and down the corridor all you can see is walls where businesses used to be. It’s really not even worth your time to take a peek. Worst food court you’ll ever encounter as well. Booo!
