The Albatross

Quite literally one of the best cigar shops/​lounges I have been to (see my dozens of other cigar shop reviews). Wonderful facility, well ventilated, great collection of accessories and cigars, fantastic ambiance. What tops all others is the young man who is running it today. Knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, professional and great personality. You can tell he loves what he is doing.
Large area of seating. It is also a hookah lounge, but I won’t hold that against them.
Nice to visit a lounge that was clearly deliberate!
It’s also BYOB.
His suggestions of cigars are spot on. Nice! Not just suggestions of what they WANT to sell.

Excellent place for the Tobacconist who loves high quality cigars, pipes, or the hookah. Excellent atmosphere in the heart of downtown Springfield, wonderful place to meet, smoke, enjoy community and a wonderful atmosphere. The owner is a great guy with a wonderful attitude and a desire to see the Queen City flourish. Go here for hookah.

So, this is where students that attend Missouri State hangout…
Despite the indoor smoking ban in Springfield, a few businesses in the Queen City got grandfathered in aka have a pass. And, is there a better way than to open a hookah bar? Things to know:
–They have a robust selection of tobacco flavors.
–They have different bases that hold up to four hoses.
–Three general rooms for patrons exist.
–The cashier/​host will direct you to a table, nightstand or wherever.
–Plastic stoppers? Nice.
–Not sure what the cost per person is, but two hoses only set me back $ 15.
–They don’t water, tea, liquor, etc…

Our absolute favorite chill spot in town. Between a groups of 4 or 5 it can come down to 5 $ a person. Very knowledgable workers. I’d give the Tross) stars if possible.

Ask for tangiers cactus fruit, Mizo peach or fantasias surfer on acid. You can thank me later.

LOVE this place! I’ve been to more than 15 hookah bars/​lounges and I really appreciate some of the attributes of this one a lot. First of all, they have a BYOB license meaning that you can bring as much alcohol as you want (reasonably) as long as everyone in your party is 21 or older. They even let us keep our beer in the fridge! Second, there are numerous IPOD hookups in the establishment and you can listen to your own music while you’re there which makes it even more unique. The proprietors are extremely knowledgeable about flavors and the technicalities of smoking a hookah, so you’re sure to sustain the best smoke while you’re there. Also, there are a large variety of flavors to choose from and combining flavors doesn’t cost any more. The price range is reasonable for hookah bars and they replace coals for free. The only criticism I have is the seating. There are some benches which are old church pews and not the most comfortable in addition to fold out chairs for the back room. Also, they don’t have any large floor cushions for floor seating like traditional hookah bars have. The relaxed and complacent atmosphere does compensate it a little. The seating is also somewhat limited because it gets popular at night. So, make sure to call ahead if you’re trying to get there after 9. Otherwise, a very fun and repeatable experience!

This place is awesome for having a good chill time, in a great environment, with fantastic smooth tunes! The help is amazing and very friendly. The flavors are outrageous, one of my new hot spots :)

Ok let me start by saying this; Springfield NEEDS places like this! Epic atmosphere, fantastic hookah lounge, perfect place for groups to hang and share penny philosophy! There is a great staff that knows what they are talking about, quality tobacco in almost every form. In short, this is the place to buy any tobacco, tobacco products or shoot the shit with knowledgeable staff.
It is the best after hours place to hang out. If you get a chance to go (and you should) call ahead before you go and reserve the back room. Thank me later.
OH and bring your own bottle of whatever to enjoy while you smoke, no corking fee!

There’s really not much I can say that Ian didn’t in his review, and while his may seem almost like a commercial with the fact that he has no cons about the Albatross. The fact is though that he’s absolutely right, this place is amazing. My friends an I have been coming here for over a year. The prices are more than comparable to Hooka Shops in Kansas, and their selection is higher quality than most of the shops I’ve been to. One tip: don’t feed James’s dog

Hookahs are for rent at a great price. 18 and older. They’re open 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Wednesday and 2 p.m. — 1 a.m. Thursday — Saturday.
