History
Established in 1946.
In 1946 a group of concerned artists and citizens acted on their passonate belief that visual arts were vital to the success of the Springfield community and founded the Springfield Art Association. While the first exhibits were mounted in space donated by supportive businesses and organizations, the Association’s members worked hard to raise the monty for a space of their own. In 1967 they proudly opened the first Springfield Art Center building and welcomed the first of many art exhibition visitors and art class students.
