Pizza tasted good, but was too light with the toppings. If I wanted a cheese pizza, I would have ordered it.

Something’s changed:(over the last few months we’ve ordered 3 take outs. Crust is thicker and less Sicilian, sauce is like contadina tomato paste. Rewind 6 months and bring back the Maria’s Special and all the pizzas we used to brag about.

Made a call in order for 3 medium pizzas. When we arrived to pick them up we had to wait an additional 40 minutes. When we finally got the pizzas they were burned. One young lady there was really nice but said there was nothing else she could really do. The rest of the staff were rude and abrasive. We won’t be going back

Great little he in the wall sot. Good pizza and American Italian fare. You can’t go wrong with a couple of bottles of Peroni and the Baked Lasagna. Real Mom and Pips feel.

This is my favorite pizza place in the entire 217. I went here for over 20 years before I moved away and this was the last place I ate at before I moved out of state. I could drive a golf ball from my house to Gabitoni’s but I never ate there. I’d rather make a 30 minute round trip to Sam’s then go there. I never got a stuffed crust or whatever else these other people are complaining about, just a basic pepperoni pizza, lasagna, and an extra order of breadsticks. I would eat a small pizza, have a tiny bit of lasagna, and the put the rest in the fridge for the next day. I personally can say in my 20 years going there I never once had a meal where I was unhappy. I will truly miss this place.

When we first started ordering pizza from Sam’s a year ago, it was really good. Unfortunately, the quality went downhill. The last four times we ordered the stuffed pizza, the tops were burnt. We kept going back, thinking it was an off-night kind of thing. The last time it was inedible and staff behind the counter were rude. When I called to complain the last time, they blew me off.

Just terrible pizza. Ordered the stuffed pizza… Soggy crust from laying in a pool of grease. took one bite and called it quits. Bummer.

My husband and I stopped here for lunch. We ordered pizza and were very happy with the choice. The pizza is thin crust and not greasy, we had the Maria topping choice and it was very good. The waitress was attentive. It was also warm in the room which is very nice on a cold windy day.

Good, authentic fare in an unpretentious informal comfy place with cold Newcastle and Peroni. Very good pizza! Probably best pizza in Springfield.

After moving away from Springfield and coming back five years later, thankfully they have not changed the recipes nor have they scrimped on any of their ingredients. They’re Italian beef sandwiches are exceptional and definitely worth it!!! The staff make you feel at home, and go out of their way to make sure all your needs are met. They definitely go beyond common courtesy and make sure that your experience is noteworthy and positive.

We were in town from Texas and found Sams on an app for our phones. We were hesitant at first to try it, but read other reviews and decided to go ahead. The atmosphere is very down home and the food was great. The staff treated us like they have known us for years. We are in Springfield every year and we will be back to eat at Sams.

My high school baseball came down to Springfield and we were looking for a «non-chain» local pizza place. We decided to try Sam’s. We had called ahead to make sure they could take 27 of us and they said they could. When we pulled the bus up to this little place on the corner we began to have second thoughts but as soon as we opened the door you could tell this pizza was going to be good and we were not disappointed. The crust was thin and light and the sauce was flavorful. The cheese was fresh and tasty. It was unanimous that all 27 of us really liked the 14 large pizzas we got as there was nothing left to take home. I also want to add that we were in and out in a little over an hour. We are definitely coming back when we return to Springfield next year.

Nice little hole in the wall mom & pop pizzeria. I enjoyed the working man’s vibe and the lack of pretension. Reminded me of a little pizza shop in New Jersey. Good, reasonably priced pies. Will definitely go back.

Not only one of my favorite places for pizza but also the COLDEST beer in Springfield. And they carry Newcastle brown too. Mmmmmm Excellent pizza(I’ve only had the thin) and an old school Italian restaurant as far as décor goes. About 8 tables and very small restrooms in the back. I’ve seen folks eating lasagna, spaghetti, etc but I haven’t tried those dishes yet. I heart pizza. Great locally run business, staff are very friendly and kind. Closes as 10pm and now open for lunch. Oh! Open Monday’s too! Try it, you’ll like it!

Some of the best Italian food I have had. The tortellini soup is excellent. An excellent way to fight a cold. Fettucini alfredo is also a favorite of mine and the pizza is good as well(one of the few places where I like the thin crust). It’s a small joint(they have got to have less than a dozen tables) with only one or two long tables. The food is well priced but the service can be slow. Parking can also be an issue because there is only a few spots and street parking is limited. You can always park at Noonan’s and cross 8th Street or bank on the fact that the bar across North Grand will be vacant and park there.
