I don’t get my hair cut often maybe 2 times a year. Paul is someone I always went to and i was always happy with the end result up until my last visit.
I came in for a color and cut. Everything was going good until they washed the color out. They didn’t put any products in my hair !? They always do. Paul cut my hair really fast and I could tell something looked wrong but I gave him the benefit of the doubt. But next thing you know he was done and passed me over the blow drying girl. And it looked horrible. I got straight bangs and they didn’t even flat iron my hair like they usually do.
I went home and freaked out because I had no layers just bangs and length. I was so upset so I decided to come back in and have him add layers. Bad idea … He cut my hair dry the layers are off with a razor and now my hair looks rigid and when I wear my hair in a pony tail you can clearly see 2 different lengths. My bangs are also way to short.
I’m overall unhappy and will not return. I’m not sure what happened. I’ve been wearing my hair up in a bun for weeks because it looks so bad.
I’m scared to go somewhere else and have it fixed because I already took off so much length.

Paul has a talent for making you look and feel beautiful! Well worth my 180 mile drive. The entire staff there makes you feel welcome.

Paul is the best! Very kind, very talented. I love how he does hair color and style. When you ask Paul for a hair trim, he will give you a full haircut. So don’t tell him you want a haircut unless you want more than 2 inches if your hair gone!
Over all it’s well priced and they are open to walks in. In all honesty I had travel overseas to have Paul coloring my hair.

I am so thrilled with how my hair turned out after visiting Paul the other day. I showed up with a brassy, orange mess, an unfortunate product of my former hairdresser at another salon. Paul was able to turn it back into the perfect ashy blonde along with giving my hair a healthy trim while leaving plenty of length.
I have been going to Paul on and off over the last 12 years, and every time I come back I wonder why I ever went elsewhere (mainly because I am not close to Springfield). He is so warm and friendly and he is so good at what he does. The salon is a little far for me, but well worth the drive and I fully plan on returning!

This was my first visit and Paul made me feel like I was one of his long-​time customers and he did my hair the way he wanted. And he is right, after I shampooed myself this morning, the hair looks fantastic! Too bad that I don’t live near by, but I may drive 30 mins to there just for that ! Thanks Paul!

Paul us the worst. Beware– if you want to keep any length to your hair do no see Paul. But if you do want to have very short hair Paul will gladly hack it all off. I went for a TRIM and he chopped two inches off the length in the back. He is a stubborn old man who does not listen to client requests. Hope he retires soon and doesn’t cause any more havoc to women’s hair.

I have been going here since primary school – Paul is fantastic. Cuts are wonderful, but I’d be wary about color. The salon is not as up to date with more modern looks (ombré, darker highlights, etc), but is still my safety! I love this place and definitely recommend it if you want a fabulous cut (I have only ever had my hair done by Paul).
Be sure to make an appointment because they seem to be short-​handed a lot of the time.
Bottom line: Great for cuts & color if you’re not looking for something super modern.

I visited Salon Dyjo about two weeks ago. I showed Paul a picture of the ombré highlights I wanted and I also wanted bangs and a trim. The photo was a girl with brown to blond highlights. I mentioned twice that I specifically didn’t want blond, I wanted my hair to go from black at the roots to dark brown to light brown at the tips (standard ombré style). He said «whatever you want, you’re the boss». I was there for quite awhile because it seems Paul is the only one actually styling the clients hair.
After the shampoo, a lady was blow drying my hair but in the middle of it, she said she’d be back and went outside and I could see her sitting on the bench outside. It didn’t appear she was on the phone or anything. She looked like she was just sitting there. The client next to me actually went outside to see if she was okay. It seemed many people there are familiar with them. The client came back and said she’d be right back. I thought it was strange but maybe she was feeling sick or light headed or something. Whatever the case, she was gone for about three minutes and I had no complaints.
It wasn’t until my hair was trimmed and blow dried that I noticed exactly how blond my hair was. Not to mention the ombré was done the wrong way. He made the blond on the underside of my hair, left it black on top, and mixed some brown (which looked the same brown from my previous highlight job) in between. I expressed my unhappiness with the color and said I wanted my tips to be light brown and not how it was currently done. but Paul tried assuring me «this is how ombré should be done».
I have seen ombré highlights a thousand times and this isn’t what it looks like. It just looks like a regular highlight job. When I called to make the appointment they acted like they knew exactly what ombré highlights were. I’m definitely disappointed with this hairstyle. I feel like I completely wasted my $ 120 I saved to do these highlights, (including using Unilocal discount).
I only gave three stars because of how nice the staff was. And I will say my hair does look nice, it’s just exactly NOT what I wanted.
And he forgot to cut my bangs, but by that point I just wanted to get out of there.

Had a haircut done by Maria. She used a #4 clipper on the side, which surprisingly was not too short, and did a sissor cut on the top and sides. I have slightly wavy hair so it’s hard for most people to cut it evenly but Maria did a great job. I’ll definitely go back again.

My mother and I stumbled upon Salon Dyjo 12 years ago when I needed an updo for senior prom. We noticed that everyone was walking out of the salon with haircuts that made them look like a million dollars – everything from teenagers to soccer moms to little old ladies with thick hair, thin hair, grey hair, curly hair, you name it. My mother and I have very difficult hair – the Polynesian genes make our hair very thick, coarse, frizzy, and wavy – so we booked appointments for haircuts a few weeks later, and the rest is history.
Although I’m a loyal client of Paul’s, everybody’s clients seem to walk out looking fantastic. I’m to the point where I just tell Paul to do whatever he wants because it always turns out well. Over the years he’s done edgy and fun styles when I was a college student, elegant and easy styles when I started teaching full-​time, and now that I’m a grad student with a limited budget, he does styles that will grow out exceptionally well so that I don’t have to come back often. Paul’s also an incredible colorist; I’ve done everything from deep reds and maroons to honey-​blond highlights to various shades of brown to black with an edgy bluish tint. Considering I’m a wash-​and-​wear person (as in, it takes a very special occasion for me to even blow my hair dry), it’s a miracle that Paul manages to think up so many cool ways to style my hair.
I moved from Virginia in 2004 and have since been flying from Ohio and Michigan to get haircuts from Paul when I visit my family. My cousin in Oklahoma and my sister in North Carolina also travel to Paul! I used to think we were weirdos, but one day I sat next to a client who said she’d flown in from Paris just to get her hair cut by Paul. Because I live so far from Salon Dyjo, I have tried other stylists over the years hoping that I can save the cost of a plane ticket back to DC. It never works out, and I go back to Paul who just smiles and fixes the train wreck. Paul feels more like a family friend than my hairstylist, and while I’ll be very sad if he ever retires, I have a feeling I’ll be flying to Salon Dyjo to get haircuts for as long as it’s open.

Salon Dyjo is the only place I trust with my hair, I’ve been going to Paul since I was around 5 or 6 and whether he is doing a cutt, color, or updo, he never lets me down, he is one of the only stylist I’ve met who tries to mantain a personal relationship with his clients, every client who comes in has the same love and admiration for Paul and his work, he is amazing! Trust me Salon Dyjo will not let you down!

I found Naji a few years ago when he worked at Salon Virage and followed him to Salon Dyjo. If you are looking for someone who can do hair color and make it look like you were born with the color or add highlights or just give you a fantastic hair cut – make an appointment with Nagi. I always have people ask me where I get my hair done. While I haven’t had Nagi do an updo for me, I have been there when he has done a few for women going to special occasions… all I can say is Wow! Fantastic hair designs perfect for any special occasion.

Nagi is my stylist. He is absolutely amazing, and does wonders with my hair. I would recommend him to anyone. :-)

I decided last minute on a Sunday afternoon that I was sick of my current hairstyle and color and on my way home from brunch, I saw Salon Dyjo. Despite already having 2 customers he was working on, Paul, the owner, gave me a brief consultation within 10 minutes of my arrival. He then proceeded to color and highlight my hair and give me an amazing new haircut, too (see my profile photo on this site).
The salon also has a good deal for new customers which includes a free haircut w/​purchase of color or highlights.

Paul is by far the best hair professional by far. He does the hair of my mom, aunt, and all of their friends. I have grown up going to Paul and will never go to anyone else.
After growing my hair out for years I wanted to donate it but was hesitant on sporting very short hair. Not knowing what exactly I wanted Paul cut off 13 inches to donate and gave me a great short look!
Also, on a different occasion I decided to color my jet black, very thick hair and again, without knowing exactly what I wanted to do Paul added beautiful highlights without damaging my hair.
He is very professional and amazing at what he does!
