If I could give negative stars I would. They were the worst shop I have ever been too. They failed to do basic troubleshooting before making expensive unneeded repairs, performed work not authorized, reused old parts and claimed they were new. Ran the vehicle without coolant and have it back to me after two weeks running worse than when I brought it in. The mechanic and the owner would tell me one thing then something completely different later. They didn’t even plug into the vehicle computer until I complained about the lack of basic troubleshooting and after presenting me with a bill of over one thousand dollars.
They treated me like I knew nothing about vehicles even though I have been working on and maintaining my own vehicles for 30 years and am an avid off-​roader where you need to be able to do most repairs yourself on the trail.
They failed repeatedly to listen to me, often asking the same question, such as how long I’ve owned the vehicle, several times in the same conversation.
I requested they save and show me old parts and they could not produce any of them.
I had to stop them from grounding the battery directly to the alternator and turning my vehicle into an arc welder.
These people are in my opinion nothing more than thieves and liars. I would recommend having somebody you just pick up on the street work on your vehicle even if they don’t know what they are doing rather than let these guys touch your vehicle.
They had good Google reviews, wish I had checked Unilocal first.

Never go to these guys glenn is and incompetent mechanic, and has no idea what he is doing they well charge ridiculous prices for repairs that you don’t even need diffidently go some were else like sun automotive at lest they no what there doing and wont take advantage of you.

The repair took over a week and they never called me once. I got no updates, had to call them to figure out what was going on. It runs, barely.

I really hate to slam these guys because I find them to be pretty likable but I feel like they need to get their collective acts together. During my first couple of visits to the shop I found the waiting room and front desk empty and no one around to answer my questions. I had to find my way into their shop where loud music was blaring and I was ignored by one of the mechanics. The shop was pretty chaotic with tools and detritus scattered about.
The issue that prompted this review was when a miscommunication turned what was supposed to be an estimate into a full repair without consulting with me first. I went ahead and paid for it because returning my Vanagon to its former state would have been heartbreaking. (I’m glad I didn’t ask for estimates on anything else).
Again, Rich and his (partner/​assistant/​office-​manager) were VERY polite and apologetic and seem like good guys… I hesitate to post this because I feel «if you don’t have anything nice to say than you shouldn’t say anything at all…» but that isn’t really how Unilocal works.
Despite the «Meh. I’ve experienced better» two stars, I will probably go back for a 2^nd try in hopes that this was just a fluke. (and will update my review at that time) Finally, and this is key, Rich’s was more affordable than the competition… by a good 25%!
