I work in Springfield, so I occasionally order take out there. After frequenting Shanghai Garden many times, I decided to finally give this place a try. I ordered the chicken and broccoli luncheon special with egg drop soup.(Shanghai Garden includes soup AND an egg roll in their luncheon special. but anyway.) The soup was very salty. The rice was very bland and was literally just fried rice with no other little veggies or anything cut up in it. The broccoli was extremely underdone. basically still raw. I don’t think I finished my meal, just threw the rest away, and I really hate wasting food. Going back to Shanghai Garden from now on. Also, the restaurant is weird, ugly, and obsolete inside.

Owner/Waitress did not acknowledge our presence and did not say thank you when we left the restaurant. She also said«oh my» when we asked for more hot oil(which in most chinese place is a condiment that you can take as much as you need). Food was mediocre at best. Not recommended unless you have no other choice!

Like with most Chinese food restaurants I’ve been to and I’ve been to a LOT — the staff is unfriendly, food has is a bad value and often not fresh. I just can’t recommend this place. I’ve even complained to the owner before about a dish and got the cold shoulder. By the way, if you’ve never been here and are curious — yes, the inside décor is just as bad as the outside. Very outdated and low-class.

Excellent price for lunch meals. Fresh produce and good flavor. Great views while you eat. They aren’t spending money on the interior that’s for sure but I would come back. Everything tasted great. Fried rice could’ve been more flavorful

I grew up eating this Chinese food which probably makes me a bit biased but I think it is one of the best I’ve ever had. My family and I go here so often they know our order. The generalsl tso’s has a bit of spice which you don’t find to many places even when they claim it is spicy.

We went to this place for dinner. As it was little late we were the only customers in the whole restaurant . The place is quite big with lot of seating arrangement. We ordered fried rice, lo mein and vegetable delight with rice. We also ordered bean curd soup and I recommend not to go for it .It was completely tasteless just like having beans and hot water. Rest of other things were just OK. There was nothing very extravagant in taste. It was just a regular place and nothing exquisite. I would say to go and try if pizza and steak are not your options. But do not have high expectation.

Best chinese food in the area and better than most of the places I’ve tried at or around this price point in Boston. If you ask my wife where she wants to go for dinner 11 out of 10 times she’ll say the Oriental Palace. I like the Chicken and Cashews(spiced), the tea is made daily from loose leaf and is excellent. We regularly we get the egg rolls, fried dumplings, General Tso, Kung Pao, the lo main, and fried rices. Is it «real» chinese or the Americanized versions… I don’t know and I don’t care but I dig it. I don’t know if Springfield just doesn’t like ethnic food or maybe they’re allergic to chop sticks. Every single time I visit there is never more than two other parties. So, If your in the area check this place out I’m sure you’ll get a table immediately.

Great food. When I went there for lunch there was only 3 seats taken and it was mostly empty tables. Good portions of food, reasonable price, and good view of the river.
