A legacy organization for all ranks and Services since 1968, that was originally formed by MajGen Pennington serves almost 50,000 members with a staff of 11, and an annual budget of about $ 3M.
They have always had retired General Officers leading the organization, and this creates a feeling of hierarchy that is attractive to senior retirees.
Their bi-​monthly, magazine is a masterpiece, and their Marketing Director, Steve Hein is bright, and credible with The Military Times, the US Coast Guard, and Military writers like Tom Philpott and Rick Maze.
In the interest of full disclosure, I was a Member of their Board of Directors for five years.
