I may be partial having grown up on Mike & Rosy’s sandwiches as a Springfield native and Wittenberg grad, but I stand by a five-star review. These sandwiches against the world. These sandwiches against all other sandwiches. I’ve been ordering the same«custom» sandwich since I was a little kid that couldn’t even see above the counter, so there’s a lot of nostalgia in this place for me. However, the sandwiches trump even the nostalgia. Mike & Rosy’s uses top-notch meats, cheeses, veggies, and bread, almost all of which you can see in deli counter-style refrigerators as you order. They steam their hot sandwiches which perfectly melts cheeses and warms the insides and the bread but leaves it all soft and shiny and… *wipes drool* simply perfect. Reading the labels on the shelf full of hot sauces while waiting for a sandwich never ceases to entertain. Hot sauce heaven is right near coolers stocked with drinks, deli salads, frozen cheesecakes and other culinary delights. Gourmet dipping oils and foodie commodities like flaked sea salt and Robert Rothschild Farm dips and sauces occupy another shelving unit. Service at the counter downstairs is fast and friendly. Seating in the back room is comfortable and will make any Wittenberg alum(or Ohio State fan) feel right at home. The semi-recent addition of Rosy’s Pressbox upstairs adds a whole new element to love about this place. Pressbox has turned an already popular eatery into a popular bar. The same food can be ordered upstairs as well. Bartenders are friendly, and the atmosphere always feels like home.

Bang for your buck: 6.5÷10 Quality: 8.5÷10 Service: 8⁄10 Ambiance/Location: 8.5÷10 Overall: 8.5÷10 SO. SO. SO. good! Adorable place with deliciously fresh food. It’s a bit expensive for what you get, but it’s pretty comparably priced to other delis. It’s a must try if you’re in the area, but worth the trip if you can make it for some delicious deli sandwiches and sides.

Great neighborhood sandwich shop with a long history. Not enough places steam their sandwiches, Mike & Rosy’s has this great smell because of years of steaming sandwiches. The smell is permanently etched into my mind. They don’t make places like this anymore. Good bagels, good soup, good subs. I like ham and Swiss. It’s a fun place to visit. They have a lot of gourmet items and tons of different hot sauces. They have pizza, but you can only order it in the evening, no lunch pizzas. The bar is sportsing and mostly lit by red neon and tv. Not my thing, but the staff and patrons seem friendly.

Ate here many times while a student at Wittenberg University, and loved every visit. My daughter and I were in town recently as she is now considering attending this school. It was a cold and snowy Sunday night, but the food was awesome as I remembered! Hot steamed corned beef hit the spot, and they have a great selection of chips and drinks to go with the meal. I absolutely love this place!

This, like a lot of places in town, is tainted by a nostalgia & a prestige that outshines the actual quality. It is a fine place to get a sub, if you’re willing to pay a higher price, spend a little extra time, & figure out a confusing layout. That said, the quality of the food is good. Again, overpriced, but still good. Turkey, pepperoni, roast beef… you can’t go wrong. The system of choosing your own breads, meats, cheeses, & toppings makes for a customizable experience. The variety of hot sauces, side dishes, & chips is always nice. Stopping by for a sandwich will likely earn you points with locals, as they have a fondness for it, but meter your expectations. And good luck with the parking lot.

Update. We’ve been there a few times over the past year, and the service has become much more friendly. In fact, the guy at the register is genuinely friendly and pleasant. I find myself recommending Mike & Rosie’s to people again. Great job guys!

I think this place is amazing and still has that old-school deli feel. I’ve never been disappointed in my many, many trips here. They steam their hot subs and man, they are delicious. They have a large eat-in area or you can get it to go. There are a ton of sides and snacks to choose from as well. We are not in Springfield very often, but when we are, we try to hit this place up. I have yet to find a restaurant in Columbus who makes a better pizza sub!

Disappointing. $ 8.95 for a Pastrami sandwich? It was small, soggy, and seriously lacking in flavor. I had high hopes based on the advice of others, unfortunately I was let down and will not be returning.

Fantastic«old school» deli! Walk up to the counter to order and grab some fresh made sides while you wait. They only use the best Boar’s Head meats and steam their sandwiches for a taste that’s unique to Mike & Rosy’s. Adjacent to Wittenberg University and Snyder Park which both offer great picnic areas.

I remember Mike and Rosy’s being amazing when I was a kid. Fast forward 20 years, I brought my husband back here with high expectations. We ordered our subs and waited what seemed like a very long time. We sat down and from the first bite, I was disappointed. They steam their sandwiches, which I knew that. However it makes the bread soggy. It’s like eating a sandwich you made 8 hours before and put in the microwave to warm up. I got their signature sandwich. It had no flavor. I had to get up and ask for a side of mustard because my sandwich was so bad. Not one person in my party finished their sandwich and now my husband doubts my taste buds, ha! It’s played up way too much. Not worth it, in my opinion.

If you want to pay for over priced food and drinks, then this is your place. Don’t get me wrong, the subs are amazing but you can walk down the street to Our Hero and get a better sub for half the price. Also, I don’t mind the lay out or the bar upstairs. It’s nice and clean. If you want to go out and get away from a crowded bar, then this is the perfect spot. If you’re on a budget, then i would not suggest you come here.

I’m in Springfield at least 4 times a month for business. If I don’t have a client lunch, I’m grabbing a Reuben from Mike and Rosy’s! The staff is always friendly and the service is relatively fast(it can be busy at lunch time). There are a wide variety of sandwiches and they also have a number of side options such as potato salad and what not. If you dig a good deli sandwich, you’ve got to hit this place up.

Basically as soon as I stepped foot in Springfield I was told about Mike and Rosys. This modest looking mom and pop is definitely a staple for Wittenberg students. After a month of hearing about Nike and Rosys I got to go with a friend and check it out for myself. The restaurant is split into three sections: Rosys Pizza Box(a sports bar) and order and pick up section and the dining room. You walk in and order, pick up a bag of chips and a fountain drink or classic bottled pop and wait for your order to be ready. There is nothing fancy on the menu, just the tried and true hoagies you would expect. Then you can take your order in the nice renovated dinning room. This dining room would be a great place to hang out with a group for a while because your out of the way and not annoying a waitress who want you to stop holding her section hostage, because their are not waitresses for you and your giant group to hold up.(I hope that makes sense). The only thing that keeps my rating at a solid 4 and not 5 is the prices. While the food and atmosphere are very good, I didn’t feel like I got enough bang for my buck. I would hate to foot the bill for a group. I will definitely be going back to visit this local treasure!

Still a great sandwich. Had the pastrami on light rye again. The only thing I would complain about is the $ 2.29 I paid for a fountain pop. That’s a little steep.

As a former Wittenberg student, I spent many a lunchtime in Mike and Rosy’s, gnawing on their delicious hoagies. Now? Maybe it’s «nostalgia goggles», but M&R just doesn’t seem as good. Their prices have become exorbitant, especially considering the number of other great sandwich options in the area. When I was a student at Witt, the«Wittenberg Special» was a mere $ 5 – a 6″ hoagie, a choice of pop, and a bag of chips for that low price. No such special exists anymore… Honestly? You’re better off heading down Plum Street towards Our Hero or heading to Huber Heights to Firehouse Subs.

Our office ordered M & R Deli delivered in for lunch. I’m trying to stick to salads/lighter stuff for lunch, and have to say that their tossed salad(with added sliced chicken breast) was ENORMOUS and really had a GREAT variety of veggies(not just lettuce and a few raggedy, leftover looking shreds of «whatever’s leftover from the subs, errr… hoagies). I split it and had it for two days(thanks, company’s dime!!!). I also ordered their cup of «homemade» mushroom soup, which I’m pretty sure was Campbells w/lots of added fresh mushrooms. Big cup, LOTS of mushrooms = Fine with me! I’ve been here before for the subs, which were ehhhhh, so-so, nothing all that memorable, and their upstairs sports bar/pub is fine, but now that I know they’ve got great salads, we’re all set. P. S. If you plan to eat here, be advised the parking is TERRIBLE…

Absolute gem of Springfield. This place was very popular while attending college and was popular when I had it in high school. Very good and now that the attachment with a bar has been added it makes the place that more enjoyable. Steaming the sandwiches is great. Pizza bagel is up there. Make sure to try the bread on the top of the deli meat window stuffed with cream cheese. They will steam this and the cream cheese melts just a bit making it even better!

This is one of the worst so called delis I have ever been to. The food is just your basic stuff you can get at a Walmart deli. The prices you pay for what you get are outrageous! The service is alright for a over priced establishment. Any deli is better than this one! Go to Izzy’s or even a grocery store, you will be a lot happier.

I seriously have dreams of this place. I never knew that something as simple as a sub sandwich could be a regional food but it is! Since moving from Ohio to Philadelphia three years ago, I’ve had a hard time transitioning to using the word«hoagie» on the East Coast(colloquial Philly dialect). Don’t get me wrong, the Italian hoagies here are killer but I miss the familiarity of this Midwestern establishment. Delicious rolls, shaved meats, hearty cheeses= heaven. I like walking into this place, smelling the scent of steamed subs, glazing over the Wittenberg sports’ memorabilia and being able to speak my native language. A MUST stop if you are ever in the area.
