Offering shoes, apparel, and accessories for walkers, runners, and people who maintain an active lifestyle. A typical visit includes a needs assessment, a gait assessment, precise foot measurement, and shoe fitting based on findings.

We have trail, running, walking, gym, zumba, aquatic, cross-​training, and everyday casual shoes. We carry a large range of sizes from childrens size 1 up to size 16 4E.

History

Established in 2009.

Metro Run & Walk in Springfield was sold to new owners in February 2009. The new owners, Mark & Helen Russell, are both active lifestyle enthusiasts being both walkers and runners.

Meet the Business Owner

Mark and Helen R.

Business Owner

Mark has been a runner for many years and has completed a number of marathons and ultra-​distance events. Prior to buying the Metro Run & Walk Springfield business, Mark was an Executive Director for several local and national non-​profits including The Arc of Northern Virginia, the Arc of the United States, the Joseph P Kennedy Foundation, and Kids Enjoy Exercise Now (KEEN).

Mark continues to volunteer his time and energy to local non-​profits focusing on improving the quality of lives of children and adults with disabilities.

Helen is a casual runner and walker with a special interest in half-​marathons. Helen retired from her professional career in IT Strategy and Advisory with Ernst & Young and BearingPoint in 2007.

Since 2001, Helen has been volunteering as a patient advisor teaching advocacy and ethics to medical students at UHUHS.

In 2011, Helen became a certified Pedorthist (medical footwear specialist) and is a member of the Pedorthic Footcare Association.
