History

Established in 1949.

We are the oldest drive in on the northwest side of Springfield. We are the second oldest in all of Springfield. We have been in business since 1949. We started out as Bill’s drive in, then Tappen“s in the 60“s. After that most of you will remember us as Vaughn’s drive in. We have now changed the name to Louie’s drive in. We did bring back their menus though. Also, brought back some of their recipes as well. It continues to be a family drive in like it always has been.

Meet the Business Owner

Lisa E.

Business Owner

I took the business over 6 years ago. The poor building was really run down & the man who owned it for years was going to tear it down. Well, I talked him into letting myself purchase it & here I am. I have now owned the drive in for 6 years. we have completely remodeled. We also wanted to bring something back to the neighborhood for everyone. It is really cool when you can sit down and visit with several generations of customers that have been coming to this little place. I truly enjoy what I do & for my love of cooking to be able to serve everyone. Plus, with having a small family business I get to involve my children in the business.
