We’re always on the look-out for bakeries when we travel so having read of this historic shop we made a detour. It was easy to locate and we found street parking out front, but the lack of charm of its entirely modern interior was matched by the curt clerk who assisted us, despite its being a quiet Saturday morning with no one waiting behind us. In addition to large displays of Italian-American style sweets(no, sweets in Italy don’t look anything like this!) La Fiorentina has imported savories for sale and a deli counter with tables. We took five different pastries to go; three of the five were alright(lobster tail, zeppole, ricotta cake slice); since the cannoli were prefilled rather than being filled to order like they should be we went with a chocolate covered one(they usually hold up better under such conditions) and clearly it had been filled from both ends, but unfortunately it was empty in the middle(no filling)! Even more unfortunate, the slice of chocolate/cherry/cream cake(think wannabe German Chocolate Cake) we received was rancid; although there were plenty of them in the tray, clearly they were well past their«sell by» date; we won’t be back.

I live in Chicago and every time I come to Springfield, this is a must stop for us! The cannolis are the best. You will never find anything like it! The way the shell remains crispy and the filling creamy… it’s perfect! I can’t find anything even close in the Chicago area. Yum!!!

Cakes are fabulous but customer service sucks. I called about a special order cake and was asked so many times if I really wanted the cake. I said yes everytime, that I would go pay right away and I get later so they would have time to prepare it. Eventually, I became frustrated and the person on the phone said I had attitude. Seriously wouldn’t you have attitude too if they asked 20 times IFYOUREALLYWANTEDTHECAKE??? Ugh.

Took a nice trip up to Northampton from Springfield and ended my day here at this pastry shop. I usually don’t eat sweets like this but this place is amazing and the people are so friendly and happy to serve. I had a resses covered slice of cheese cake and it was terrific. I highly recommend this place for anyone wanted to end a day with a tasty treat or even if you want to try different from treats out. This place will always be first on my recommend list for other patrons.

On a hunt for a French bakery I found this wonderful Italian bakery. I got the cream puff for my husband and the lobster tail for me. As it turned out my hubs preferred the lobster tail and me the cream puff but they were both great! I have to try some more of their treats and the fresh bread looks wonderful.

Oh, my goodness!!! Let me preface this by saying, that by no means do I have a sweet tooth. I’m a salty guy. Cheeses are my sweets. But, Lord, were these pastries delicious. And it’s a pretty damn good deal too. I scarfed down everything we bought. Curse you, La Fiorentina. You’re probably responsible for at least five pounds of my holiday bulge. MUST. NOT. RETURN.

Put simply(and hyperbole aside): it’s the best cannoli in Massachusetts(better than Mike’s and Modern in Boston, which are solid in their own right).

I’m gonna jump on the bandwagon and say they make some seriously delicious cannoli here. There’s nothing like it in Orlando, maybe there’s lots of tasty cannoli in Springfield, but I thought it was awesome. Their almond cookies were also extremely delicious, you could taste that they were fresh. The only thing I will say is that it is rather on the expensive side, but it was delicious.

Their lobster tail pastry is in the top five for best pastry I’ve ever had, the filling is unbelievable. Sort of a bavarian cream mixed with real cream maybe? Excellent rum cakes, fruit tarts, and more as well. I usually get a box to bring home if I’m driving by on I91. Very reasonable prices.

I’m suggesting you come here when you’ve got a bit of time to wander through the cases and try a bit of this and a bit of that. My employer uses La Fiorentina for all of our office birthdays because we think our employees deserve the best! The chocolate mousse cake covered in ganache is one of the best of its kind that I have ever tried. The mouse is perfectly whipped and not too sweet, the cake is rich and intensely chocolatey and the ganache is smooth and wonderful. Try their tiramisu and dont miss a cannoli from this place… they are drool worthy. The staff is always super sweet and quick as hell. This place has been a long time staple in Springfield and the locals who grew up eating these delights have a special place in their heart for La Fiorentina. I’m one of em. Although Springfield is anything but a destination location, if you happen to be in the area on business or you are passing through, this place is one of the few spots that is still holding on to its old Springfield roots. Enjoy!

I have been coming here since I was a small child. Their canolis are THEBEST. Living in Boston now, I thought Mike’s pastry’s or something in the North End would compare… but they don’t La Fiorentina still has it. Everything is great. I frequent the one downtown and the one in East Long meadow every time I am home. If you are ever in Springfield please try this place!

On one city block(actually less than half) you have a wonderful Italian trifecta of Zonin’s, Mom & Rico’s and La Fiorentina. Of course, the sweetest of the three is La Fiorentina. Of course there’s cannoli, there’s also cookies, tiramisu, zabaglione, ‘standard pastries’, cakes, the list goes on and it’s all awesome. This place is well known throughout the area as the gem it is. You might want to wear your ‘fat pants’ here.

If the Cult of Cannoli had a temple, it would be La Fiorentina. I grew up in Springfield and had pastries from La Fiorentina handed to me at every Sunday dinner and I guess I just assumed, as kids do, that it would be the same everywhere. I also took their luscious sfogliatelle(sfol ya TELL eh) for granted, only to learn as the years passed that it is a rare bakery indeed that offers that confection at all. I suspect it’s because they are difficult to make and nearly impossible to eat without making a ludicrous mess. Find me one in southeast Michigan and I’ll nominate you for CEO of Unilocal.Anyway, a recent trip to Springfield for a family funeral was considerably brightened when a kind and apparently psychic cousin showed up with a box of cannoli and sfogliatelle from La Fiorentina. One bite of sfogliatelle and it was Marcel and his madeleine all over again. Simply fabulous.

I have lived in NYC and sampled plenty of cannoli from little Italy and other Italian eateries in the boroughs and beyond. I could never for the life of me understand all the fuss. .. until I had a cannoli from La Fiorentina. WONDERFUL!

La Fiorentina in Springfield is, in my opinion, the best Italian Pastry Shop north of NYC. Even better than Mike’s Pastry in Boston, and that place is amazing. La Fiorentina is in the middle of Springfield’s South End(Little Italy,) which was destroyed by a once-in-a-lifetime tornado on June 1, 2011. Hopefully, the South End rebuilds better than ever. Springfield is a GREAT city.

I bought a chocolate mouse cake for a birthday party and it was excellent almost decadent. I had avoided the downtown location for a while, but this was a good call.

I tried several things from the pastry case, including cannolis. Loved them all. The staff was very real and helpful(I also got two cannolis gratis).

It’s really wild to hear people complimenting the cannoli here. I stopped in today to check them out, got a cannoli and some walnut cookies, and then went next door for a cappuccino, and my cannoli was seriously terrible. I was excited when I saw nothing but unfilled shells in the case — figured it was a good sign and meant they filled them fresh. Boy was that wrong, what I got was so soggy there was no crunch left. Seriously seemed to be days old, I can’t believe they served it to me. Then again, the service was so off, it’s not that hard to believe after all. Both sides — coffee and pastry(and why two sides? It’s unnecessary and just confusing.) I felt like I was causing some sort of trouble by wanting to spend money there. The guy on the coffee side just kinda shoved my cup at me, I don’t think he would even have made me pay unless I asked him. He was that disinterested. One thing I can say, though, the walnut cookies were good. It was my first visit, I’d like to hold space for the possibility that this was an anomaly, but sadly I’m not likely to go back.
