Kazaxe By Azuka-Bom

Kazaxe is my happy place. I’ve been coming since ’07 when it was the underground by Landmark mall. Like everyone, I fell in love with this place the first class! I never really thought about leaving a review as most of the gremlins consider this place more of a community rather than a business to rate and this place really don’t need any more positive reviews since it’s always packed with people from friends’ referrals and everything but I thought I’d still go ahead and express my love for this place lol.
Parking sometimes can be a issue especially during the day classes. So you have to make sure to park in the spots around the entrance. But they usually warn you by making announcements if anything were to go down, so don’t worry. Evening classes, you park EVERYWHERE. You can park in the «no parking» yellow spots, loading dock ramp, fcps spots, double park, parallel park, street park, ass park, whatever to get your car parked.
I usually come either 12pm or 515pm to avoid the crowd. The more room I have, the bigger my moves, hence better work out ;)
Pro tip
1.for 7:40pm, come at least 20 min early to get a good parking spot and don’t forget to reverse park! By the time people all get out at the same time, it gets way too hectic.
2. There’s multiple scanning machines for checking in, if you see a line of people waiting, look around to see if they are not using the machines. Often times, they are buying passes and if you are just wanting to check in, you don’t have to wait with them!
3. No one is watching you or rating you on how well you are doing so just get lost in the music and go all out!

My neighbor told me about Kazaxe and I wish I had tried it sooner. It is such a fun and great workout! Instructors and staff are friendly and positive. I will be going back regularly.

Great workout class for both men and women! You can burn up to 1000 calories while learning some very useful and easy to master dance moves. There is nothing wrong with a little wine-​up wine-​up!

Great workout with great instructors! Very reasonably priced. I enjoy working out here. They offer free ear plugs which I noticed helps if you come often because you’re left with a small ringing in your ear for the rest of the day without them. I love the atmosphere. Everyone who works out here has no shame and is ready to shake their thang! I love that! It does fill up quick so come early to get a good spot. The parking is a little frustrating at times but only if you come right when it starts or after. Other than that I just love to shake my booty with my fellow shakers!

My friends got me to go by calling their zumba class — a twerk class, which just sounds hilarious. It was actually the most intense zumba class that I’ve ever gone to. But no regrets! I woke up hung over, did the double class and left feeling great. The music pumps you up and the exercise is really good for you. Anyone can also go on stage which is a plus for self esteem. Highly recommend this class.

New to the area and have always wanted to try a Zumba class but always fed into stereotype that the classes are for women but am very happy I tried it cause I’m hooked after one class! It kicked my ass! I am not a fan of cardio but know how important it is and force myself to get on the treadmill but this is actually fun cardio!
I went on a Sunday morning and the class was packed which you would think would make it more intimidating but it was very comfortable to see how diverse of a group was there. Only thing that was tough was it being my first time I knew non of the moves but will hopefully get more and more comfortable the more I come.

This is the most Amazing «Zumba» class on earth. I kid you not. It’s like a night out dancing subtract the alcohol add some choreography. I always leave this place sweaty with a smile on my face, and happily sore the next day. Not only is the class amazing but the owner/​instructor (Azuka) is the most wonderful, open minded, inclusive individual. No matter who you are or where you are from you are most definitely welcome here no judgement! Just be prepared to dance your tail off!

I went to Kazaxe for the first time because my mother insisted it would be awesome. I (the son who thinks is too old to listen to this parents) thought it would be a waste of time but went anyways… I was wrong.
I have been going to Kazaxe for a few years now and to say that is the most awesome place in the universe is an understatement. At Kazaxe you feel motivated and energetic all the time! Sometimes it can get a little bit hot but the staff is always attentive and do their best to keep the place at a nice temperature. The best part is not how affordable it is or how the classes give you the most awesome workout … is the supportive and fun environment the Kazaxe team provides and encourages on to their attendees. I’ve seen lot’s of people post about how they turn their life around and express how happy they are thanks to the few times they attend each week. In my book that is what life is all about, been happy, and is priceless. Don’t take my word for it, I encourage everyone to try this place at list once, you won’t regret it!

Who knew booty popping required so much stamina? I loveee getting my cardio done here! Running/​jogging just isn’t a sustainable workout for me — I get so bored that not even music can distract me during a run. But this class, although it is INTENSE, you are constantly motivated and the music and moves are so fun and upbeat! You WANT to come back again and again. A lot of the moves will make you feel it in your thighs, waist, and back the next day. And it’s not only cardio — you’ll get your strength training done with all the squats and lunges.
Things to know:
+ $ 6/​class at regular price. $ 25 for 6 classes. And bigger packs are even more affordable!
+ You can park anywhere in the immediate lot even if it says FCPS Reserved. There’s also street parking available. With that being said, don’t be surprised if people double park you during packed classes.
+ You do NOT need to know how to dance. You’re there to have fun and burn a buttload of calories. There are great dancers, poor dancers, big and small, young and old.
+ Bring water. Seriously.
+ Paige is my favorite instructor!

I love kazaxe! It’s so much fun and a great way to get in 1 hr of cardio in without feeling like it’s an hr! The class gets packed pretty quickly so it’s better to arrive 15 – 20 minutes early to grab a good spot in class and a good parking spot. Shannon, Paige & Tammy are AWESOME, they are always so upbeat and energetic!
However, I’ve had Morgan a few times and each time (with today being the worst), she forgets her moves… My friend counted today and it was 5−6x that she forgot her moves and at one point, she started the song over! She also does not do all the moves with us on stage so sometimes for the newbies, it’s hard to follow along when the teacher isn’t doing it and shes just cheering us on the sideline. Thank goodness, Chris was there! He isn’t a teacher there but I always see him in class and he is always on stage and sometimes leads the arm workout. Chris at one point, was doing the correct move where as Morgan was not. Her class is definitely not as great of a workout as Tammy, Shannon or Paige.
Classes are around $ 3 – 6 per class depending on which package you get. You can also split packages between your friends, which is a huge plus!

I am a runner and I have never got a better workout than kazaxe. I have brought a ton of friends here with me also. It’s the best workout! Since I moved to manassas a year ago I can not make it to many classes anymore. The only thing is I wish there were more classes closer this way.

NOT sure why I have not review this before since I’ve only been going to Kazaxe 6+ years… BUT YOU MUST TRY IT! Like right NOW!
1: Let’s start with the dance steps! YES, it’s intense if you are looking for a good kick-​butt cardio, but they also have songs that are a little slower paced for legs and or arm workouts. Each instructors bring their own uniqueness to their classes but all will kick your BUTT in any given day. Their dance steps range from easy to moderately hard and that’s what I LOVE most about Kazaxe. They have routines for beginners, calorie burner for the regulars, and crazy intense for the advance. My recommendation: Bring a HUGE jug of water & towel, YOU WILL NEED IT!
2: Atmosphere & staff members: Since my very first time with Kazaxe until now– all the staff members are all so nice and welcoming! Its a family run business but at the same time, I feel like part of their family in a weird secret way. Dancers are all welcome on stage regardless of experience! Love that! And every time I go in, I feel like it’s my second home. Seeing all my friends I made there, watching everybody cheer each other on, etc, are a few of the many things I love about Kazaxe.
Parking– I will admit, during certain peek time you might have to double park behind someone. Don’t worry, when that happens. the staffs are always good at coordinating and helping with parking.
3: Music: Reggaeton, Salsa, Soca, **Reggae (LOVE IT)), merengue, hip-​hop, you name it– they have it all. And whatever else peaks your interest. Follow them & shoot them recommendations, you never know they might add your favorite song to their choreo. ;)
Overall– you can’t find a place that charges $ 6/​hour for such a FUN, INTENSE, HIP, And Welcoming dance fitness business! For those that I introduced to Kazaxe, became fans for life!

Why have I had this bookmarked for over 4 years, but finally went to my first class this past Saturday? You know how you have this little niggle in your head bugging you to do something, but you keep ignoring it. That’s what I’ve been doing for 4 years. Now, I’m so grateful that I had to show up again Tuesday night, will be there again, tomorrow, and prolly Sunday. Yep, I’m in.
What do I love about this???
~ I’m that crazy girl that you pass in 395 traffic dancing in my car, while singing at the top of my lungs.
~ You’re brain is so engaged, the lights are low, and there are so many of every size and shape in the class that you don’t hesitate to shake your booty like you know what you’re doing. (Even though, I highly doubt I do.)
~ I’m actually working out.
What’s the negative?
~ Wow, is it crowded! I mean this is good, but…
~ Parking can be tight, so people seem to be on the troll for a spot. Just get there early!
All I can say is, go & don’t be shy!

Today was cardio day, and instead of my usual routine, I decided to join a friend and see what all the rave was about. My first thought walking into this place was, «Oh, this is not going to be fun!» as my friend had described it as Zumba on steroids. And as a person who has ZERO rhythm, I don’t always go for «dance workouts» due to the inability to control my upper and lower extremities at the same time.
Nevertheless, I had taken a few Zumba classes at LA Fitness and Gold’s Gym, so I thought, why not? Although I found my friend’s description to be very accurate, I had a blast! It’s intense from the beginning to end, with a couple of seconds of break when the instructor changes the track. Our instructor, DeeDee, was super energetic! The studio could definitely use a coat of paint, or at least a good cleaning (gum stuck on walls), but for $ 6 a class, I’m not going to complain.
I did find the workout really hard on my knees, but I think with my compression wraps, I might be able to keep up better with the pace of the class.

Holy crap, now this is a workout! I was incredibly sore all over the next day. granted I’m completely out of shape having been stuck at work for the past several months, but I was surprised how effective this was. Thank you to Jackie B for introducing me to this! Tammy was my instructor and she was so fun and energetic. I wish I had that energy! I had to stop multiple times for water, but I never felt bad about taking my 10-​second breaks. I also didn’t really feel self-​conscious about my lack of ability to dance like the others… although I did wish I could shake my butt like Tammy ;)
The price at $ 6 is a steal. The interior has nothing really to see since it’s located inside a warehouse, but who cares? I just want to get some fun exercise in.
Just be aware that it can get a little dusty with all the jumping and bouncing; my throat was scratchy and I was coughing for some time after I got out.
Will go again!

I’m not sure how I haven’t reviewed this before, BUT YOU NEED TO GO TO THIS CLASS.
This class is perfect for everyone from beginner to a workout buff. For an hour, you will sweat profusely to a great mix of world dance beats from songs on the radio to some random song in French.
There are dudes and ladies in this class, but mainly ladies. It’s a giant community center with a stage in the front where Azuka kills it at dancing as well as the students that know all the moves, or the brave souls that want to be on stage.
You dance non-​stop for an hour and it’s challenging, but you’re dancing so it’s fun (pain). I’ve been going most Tuesday’s for the past 6 or so months and look forward to it every week.
The room is also pretty dark with some club type lights so don’t be bashful about others seeing you dance. I’d say there are 50 – 80 people there and ages of teenagers to older folks. Do your thing.
Get there 15 – 20 min early for a good spot. Bring a big water. Wear clothes you can move in.
I’ve also been to a class on the weekends called ROAR and that class kicked my @ss. That class is more like a HIT (high intensity) circuit class accompanied by music, but I’d say be in relatively good shape to join that one or you’re going to be like whhhhy did I do this to myself?!
Azuka is a fantastic instructor and even better dancer. It’s engaging to watch the crew on stage dance because you have an easy time emulating their moves. And if nothing else, you’ll sweat and become a better dancer.
Classes are $ 5 – 6 per class, I forget which, and if you buy a bundle of classes there is a discount. You get a little card you can put on your keychain and scan in when you get there.
Love. Love. Love this class. You will too.

I always have a good time when I come to class. It is intense right from the start. The parking is crazy sometimes because of it’s popularity. I like the price too, I do belong to a gym but their classes are nowhere near as fun as these classes. I especially love seeing the kids and the heavier set ladies and gentlemen up on stage because I sort of use them as motivation to keep going (if they can do it, I surely can) — not to speak badly on bigger people because we all carry our weight differently, I just like seeing realistic folks working on becoming healthier people!
They have a good variety of gear too, to really get you pumped up. My heart rate is always at it’s maximum for burning calories and YES, BURN BABY BURN!
Get there somewhat early to get a good spot!

I have been to Kazaxe on and off since 2008 ish, when it was at the other location at Landmark. Unbelievable how much this place keeps growing and growing.
Simply put — its an extremely affordable (and I really mean extremely) super duper dance fusioned (not sure if thats a word. If not. Its going in my dictionary: D) workout mixed with really great positivity and energy from everyone surrounding you. This aspect, I feel is very very important. And it makes everyone feel welcomed.
I wish I still lived in Alexandria. I recently moved to Centreville a half a year ago (had my first baby in April !). I will try to make it out at least twice a month since my mother lives right around the corner. Free babysitter !
In a nutshell — I recommend this place 110% :)

It’s a fun class but I get discouraged b/​c I find the moves too difficult to follow. It’s very loud, warm, and feels like a club. It’s a fast 50 minute workout and you’ll be drenched in sweat, but I wish the moves weren’t as difficult :(

The last time I’ve been to Kazaxe was 2012 and I remember the very first day Azuka brought her baby to life back earrrly 2000s. AND let me tell you she brings you to life with her passionate path to a healthy lifestyle.
Kazaxe is basically zumba gone wild with mix music, pop to hip-​hop even cultural songs. The moves are repetitive and easy to follow after your first day. If you can’t make the moves, it’s okay, there’s a modified instructor on stage.
It’s a cardio worth workout so if you’re going to go, eat EARLY or have a light meal before entering. Drink tons of water. Get ready to party, literally.

One of my favorite hidden gems! This place is well off the beaten path (literally hidden in a warehouse in Springfield), but it is worth the trip. The classes are about an hour long and a GREAT workout to fun music. You will find yourself dancing (twerking!) up a storm with music blasting and the lights turned low. It feels like a party, but it is also a tough workout. Be warned!
In essence, Kazaxe is fun, a great workout, VERY body-​positive for all shapes and sizes, and the perfect way to go out dancing on a weeknight with zero guilt!

Azuka and her team are the most kind and welcoming group I have ever encountered in the fitness arena. They make everyone feel like family. The inclusive environment provides a safe place for many to just be themselves and it’s amazing. It’s a place free of judgement and you just don’t find that much!

Absolutely love kazaxe not only having the freedom to shake my booty but Azuka really brings back my faith in humanity. It’s nice to see someone actually helping the community and not taking advantage. She really wants to share kazaxe with the community.
Now let me talk about the class, its a party and will work every inch of your body out. Bring water because you will be drenched in sweat comfy clothes and let your inner sexy out!

I’ve been attending this Zumba off and on for about 5 years!!! Its high energy, sweat filled and like someone said steroid Zumba. Kazaxe truly puts Gym Zumba to shame. I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! after each class I feel as though I lost 10pounds… Highly recommend it. Ohh and the staff are amazing inlcuding Azuka herself!!!
TIPS:
–USE the ear plugs! I did for the first time yesterday and without a doubt it made a difference. Just try it you’ll thank me…
–Show up little earlier for parking spot and also get a good view spot (when dancing).
–listen to Azuka! Don’t wear running shoes.

I went here for the first time with some friends last week. We got there early due to the limited parking. I got in for free because it was my first time, make sure you go with somebody who’ve been there before because they also get «rewards» for bring new people.
The place inside is literally a warehouse. The «studio» is a huge opened space with a stage in the front. The instructor and some more experience people are on the stage showing the moves. I just focused and followed this one person on the stage because the instructor tend to do random moves.
The class was really fun. I got used to it after the second song. My only suggestion is that they could put some more fans/​vents in that room.
I’d definitely recommend this class to my friends. It is a great way to sweat, whether or not you can dance.

Kazaxe is located in a hidden corner of VA –friends noted if we were driving alone on our first night, we’d probably turn promptly around. Drive through your fear — it’s well worth it for the Zumba glow! This was my first ever Zumba class — I wasn’t sure I’d survive or have a self-​consciousness freak-​out, but there’s no time for that shizz here. It’s welcoming the moment you step in the door none –of this over the top fake «glad you’re here» pat-​pat-​pat sad face non-​sense some gyms give, just straight up welcome — have fun like EVERY BODY else. And I mean every gorgeous natural BODY type.
It’s a high energy class — and the space itself is low frills. But that tells you where the focus is — they’re not selling you a $ 3 bottle of water — nope it’s 50 cents, because honey you are there to SWEAT! I think I saw ages 10 — 50 there. Some people knew all the routines some folks, like myself jumped in, got lost, and gave it their all. Even if you are a little slower like me — you’ll get on time and rhythm simply because it’s so naturally choreographed to what your body wants to do for the musical rhythm. It’s a a lot of fun, and you can take a break if need be (I ducked out for part of a song) before coming back to finish up. Honestly — the time flew by but you got your work out!
Parking is free — they have some healthy snacks, water, and coconut water. Hoodies and shirts /​workout accessories available for reasonable prices. Be forewarned, bring wet wipes if you are squeamish because you will sweat — you will sweat in places that you didn’t know could sweat — you will sweat with the fury of a thousand magical seas. You will sweat and be funky — but it will be a living universal funk of love. And if you ride the metro partway like me no f*cks will be given — because you will reach such a perfect pinnacle of endorphin and happy synaptic things that happen and merge all at once — that ain’t nothin’ gonna bring you down! I’m serious I got a Zumba high — something I haven’t felt since my last sweat lodge. So duck in and out, hydrate, go hard, go soft –but do yourself a favor and go! I’ll be the off beat big girl smiling like an idiot — riding a euphoric crest.

Azuka is da baddest bee on any dance floor she steps her cute ass, dainty ass, sexy ass little feet on. Take that to the bank and cash it, people, coz I’m good for it. I’m getting light-​headed. My dream is that one of these days when she does that super fast merengue song she accidentally trips all over herself, falls off the stage, and I have to do a diving arms wide open move to catch her and break her fall. At which point I would ask her, «Did it hurt?» And she’d be like, «Did what hurt» And I’d get my creepy, I mean seductive smile on and say, «When you fell from heaven.» She would, of course, swoon as my originality and extreme romantic skills overwhelm her. We’d be married in June, I will probably take her last name, and stay at home and wash the dishes and make sure dinner is waiting for her. Salmon terriyaki for the main dish and mango mochi balls for dessert.
Alas, as every class of hers finishes up, my muscles have only enough strength left to take me to my car, where I will sit still for like 20 – 45 minutes recovering. I bet I look dead to innocent passerbyers. She might look like an angel, but she is more like the devil on stage. And when you’re in her class, you are going through hell, my friend. A sweet, delicious, feel da burn in yo glutes kind of hell. I wish to one day have enough energy left to be able to talk to her and express my deepest emotions. I wanna tell her that I notice the little things: the way she gets a couple of counts ahead to preview the next moves or the way she makes us all come up closer on stage so we can dance as a group or the way she loves the children– which I’m told are our future– and gets them up on stage with her, where they proceed to outdance the adults. One day, me and her are gonna talk and it’s going to go like this: «Hello, my name is – » and I’ll say, «Shh, shut up, just shut up… you had me at ‘hello’…» She makes a face like she just ate a lemon and then she kisses me. Fade to black.

Wanna go to the club party? It’s a $ 6 cover, free for your first time; no alcohol is served, instead there is plenty of water and kombucha, and you will be dancin’ and bouncin’ and twerkin’, and believe me, you will be SORE and sweaty after this workout. Dance the night away AND have it be beneficial to your body! Kazaxe is totally the best way to get your feet moving and to burn a ton of calories in a fun and effective way. It’s not exactly your traditional Zumba class. The owner, Azuka, is just a pocket full of positive energy. She combines Latin music along with hiphop, raeggae, samba, and various other types of bass heavy beats to create unique movements.
It can be a little intimidating and hard the first time you go: It’s in a warehouse. There are TONS of people there from young to old and all different shapes and sizes. The instructor is kind of yelling at the crowd, encouraging them to bump up the energy level. At the same time, you are trying to learn the footwork as well as follow along and it’s like boom boom boom! @_@ Once I got the hang of one move, it switches to another thing entirely! So don’t worry about being off-​beat or looking like a fool because no one is judging and everyone else is just trying to follow along too.
I love that there’s a huge focus on the core and legs. You are expected to get low, booty out, back flat, and tummy sucked in tight. Feel the burn baby!
I also absolutely love that she encourages people to get on stage with her to motivate the crowd. You don’t have to be a professional dancer. Just follow along and have a great time. She also calls on a lot of the younger kids to get up on stage — I’m talking like 5 year olds. Now, if they can do it, anyone can! There are plenty guys in the class too, so it’s not just for chicks!
Just a few tips:
— Get there early! Parking can be a bit of a pain.
— First class is free and it’s $ 6 for every class after that
— Bring water, or die. JK, there are water fountains and they it too.
— Leave your personal belongings in the car (i.e. wallet, cell phone, bags, etc.). Don’t want people stepping or tripping over things
— I wore running shoes my first time going. It’s not the best because for a lot of the sliding and pivoting dance moves, the grip on running shoes might end up hurting your legs. Azuka recommends «high-​top street shoes» that are flat and uncushioned.
— Dress in light and breatheable attire you can easily move around in. You will sweat. A LOT.
Overall, it’s such an awesomely intense workout and her music is just so fun and upbeat. Highly recommended!

Kazaxe is the best workout class of any kind I’ve ever been to. I love to dance but hate Zumba, and felt like traditional gym hip-​hop workout classes weren’t really doing much for me in the entertainment or calorie burn department.
Despite all the reviews talking about how crazy crowded it gets, I haven’t been to one yet that didn’t still have plenty of room to stretch out and plenty of parking spaces. I even showed up 15 minutes late to my first class and it was no big deal. In that class one of the instructors called me to the stage, which was a little frightening, being my first time and all.
Despite that, I came back the next day sore as hell and just pushed through it. I also recently took a hiatus for a severe ankle injury but returned after clearing it with my health care provider. I was surprised that with a few modifications and being a little more careful, I could still get in that crazy intense workout!
The music is super loud and the bathrooms are gross, but the instructors, the energy, the lighting, is so damn fun. I’m hoping they open a Tyson’s Corner location soon… And also that they take Kazaxe nationwide!

Tried Dougie’s class for the first time today and he was great! This guy is small but terrible (in a good way) — he has sooo much energy! I was so sleepy and famished when I came in that I wasn’t feeling well during his class, but that didn’t stop me from working up a good sweat… and even though the class was at lunchtime on a weekday, the turnout was way more than I had expected.
