if you like cashew chicken look no further. I ordered the general’s chicken for my girlfriend and the Orange chicken for myself. they both had the same brown gravy that is used for cashew chicken. It’s awful. the crab rangoons tasted bitter. Price is the only saving Grace.

Very good food, amazing prices. Our family of 4 ate for under $ 30! Quick service. Amazing Springfield chicken! Gluten free stir fry with beef or chicken. Definitely worth a visit. We will be back!

Good cashew chicken. Pretty much what you expect in Springfield. Lunch specials were excellent $$$$. Egg roll was good. Service was great. The only thing that was odd was the wonton… not sure what that was all about. I read that they have a no MSG option… I will try that next time.

This place is always busy, with cars backed up to Glenstone any time of the day. However, I find their food to be mediocre at best. They do have a gluten free dish, but it is bland and tasteless. It isn’t bad food — it’s just nothing to write home about. Prices are cheap though, so it’s still a quick, inexpensive meal, if you aren’t picky.

Got great food, good service. I enjoy their noodles. Not a fan of the cashew chicken, but I’m not a big chicken eater either. the appetizers are top notch. Well worth a stop in.

Pretty good Chinese food and a drive thru! Had to try the cashew chicken since it is their permanent specialty. Food was good, could have had a few more cashews in it but overall very good. Also had the egg roll and crab Rangoon, both were very tasty. The best part though is there is a drive thru! Genius. All for a very good price and a good portion size.

This is great standard fare for Springfield style cashew chicken. It is very inexpensive and the portions are generous. My family has been eating here for decades and it has always been great. Not my personal favorite for cashew chicken but it’s always very good.

When I was in college this was the place to come. Great food and really reasonable prices. The place hasn’t changed still great food at a reasonable price. I recommend the Sesame Chicken platter. 4.79 and you will be full.

Went thru the drive thru for lunch and got back to work took a bit of the chicken and I couldn’t even chew it. I spit it out and tried another piece and it was the same way. So I tried cutting a piece of the chicken and I couldn’t even cut it. I decided I was gonna call them bc the chicken was not edible. When speaking to the manager she tells me right now chicken is dry. She asked weather I got all white meat or dark meat I told her all white meat she said aww yea all white meat is dry. She told me if I brought it back she would look and see if it was replacable. I told her I was at work and wouldn’t be able to come right back she says I’m so sorry I can’t help u. I was in shock that she said all meat is dry. Just crazy to me. I will not be returning. Also I don’t even wanna give them a rating bc it was that bad. But it says I have to. Ugh

My friend and I always order their fried chicken wings and hot and sour soup which I think is really good. Their prices aren’t bad either for a student budget.

The service is good, they are cheap and they are great about special orders. They do a gluten free chicken stir fry. My husband has ordered it for me take out a few times. It comes in a clear sauce and I add amino liquids or gluten free soy sauce. Tons of veggies and I can eat two times unless I am super hungry.

This is the best chinese place on the face of this earth. I grew up eating cashew chicken down in Springfield while visiting my family and always loved it. I later went to college in Springfield where Hong Kong Inn became my staple. Whether a Friday night dinner or a hangover recovery lunch, HKI is where it’s at! The cashew chicken is always a win, but if you’re looking to switch things up the General chicken is pretty awesome too. The best egg rolls I have ever found! I miss you HKI!

fast service, the sesame chicken was awesome. And, the egg rolls were crispy and yummy! I had enough leftover for two more meals:)

Love this place still and hopefully always will. Went back home for Xmas in February and ate here twice. It’s fantastic. Springfield cashew chicken all white meat just like it should be. Get it together Chicagoland, people should be able to order all white meat! Their crab rangoons are the best I’ve ever had, seriously, with a little duck sauce on top, yum yum yum. In all the 25 years, or however long we’ve been going here I’ve only ate the cashew chicken all white meat so I can’t really tell you about anything else on the menu. I know my brother likes the general chicken. They do charge 25 cents for refills on drinks which I think is super lame, but whatever. The second time we came in, we were on our way out of town, headed home. It was about 9:20pm and they close at 9:30. They made our meals fresh but we could only have it to go. While we were waiting some others came in, some just a minute or two before close and they still took their orders. I have to admit, this just before closing chicken was the best I’ve had there. We had the meal for 2 and 2 drinks and it was under 15 bucks. Go there if you are in town. If you haven’t had Springfield cashew chicken, this should be the place you try it.

I can’t believe I forgot to review this restaurant. Especially after the way they treated me. But I’ll get to that in a moment. The food is not that great. It’s subpar at best. However, it was the better cashew place in town for a while. Which isn’t really saying much. The cashew sauce was okay, but the chicken was very disappointing. The chicken used to be pretty good until they made a change and even if you ordered all-white meat you still ended up with chicken that tasted like dark meat and had a very fatty texture. I know everybody loves eggrolls, but the eggrolls were very greasy and didn’t have much flavor. However, the spring rolls were pretty good. The rest of the food on the menu that wasn’t Asian-American wasn’t very interesting either, considering most of it was variants of the same thing and tasted very similar to the next dish. No wow factor there. Lastly(and this is where I get to my major complaint about the place), The potstickers were pretty good if they made them correctly. Which seemed to be further and further between each time we ordered them. On my last visit to Hong Kong inn, I had ordered some potstickers with my meal that were way overcooked. I drove back to the restaurant and requested a fresh order. The girl behind the counter was polite, but insisted that she needed to ask the owner to come out and speak to me about them. The owner came out and spoke to me with raw chicken juices and breading on her ungloved hands. I tried to explain to her that the potstickers were overcooked and I politely requested a fresh order replacement to be made. To my surprise, she then became very angry with me and started yelling. She disagreed that the potstickers were overcooked and insisted that I take them back home and eat them. Meanwhile, with her extremely unsanitary hands still with raw chicken juices and breading on them, she picks up a pot sticker out of my box, tears it apart and said«it’s fine you can eat this» and puts it back into the box with the rest of the potstickers, touching several others as she did so. I politely insisted that they were overcooked and once again requested a fresh order to be made, but she kept yelling at me and insisted that I leave the restaurant. So I did and I never returned.

Cashew special, all-white meat… Add a little red rooster sauce and it’s on! I cannot even vouch for the other dishes in this place because the kind of crack they put in the cashew chicken has me hooked. BEST cashew chicken I have ever tasted in my entire life. And the whole entrée under $ 5. They lose a star because they recently changed from making dishes to order to now making a bunch of chicken all at once, so if you order towards the end of a batch you get chicken that’s been out for a bit :/

Food was hot but tasted terrible. Service was quick. My husband and I ate in around lunch time. Two of the employees were sitting in the dining room near us bad mouthing another employee including using several cuss words. Not exactly professional. Restaurant was clean. we are not likely to visit here again.

I have been to many different Chines places in Springfield and I feel this one is the best. The employees are very unprofessional and seem to be rude at times. On the other hand, the food is good enough to keep us coming back.

Only got to try the veggie fried rice and egg rolls but it was very good! The place is super super quick so I thought it might be bad but I was wrong. Wish I could try more!
