Gutter Ethics

Gutter Ethics fixed some gutter issues I had with a previous gutter replacement I had done about 3 years ago. Needless to say the previous company did not do a very good job.
I got my back gutters replaced, drip guards in the front and back, pipe collars on the roof, some cap shingles replaced as well as some flashing and roof work done around the chimney. Their initial estimate did not include work for the chimney flashing and plywood replacement around the chimney as they did not discover the leak in the flashing until after they started work. While I was initially upset at this new discovery as it doubled the original estimate from $ 1k to $ 2k, ultimately I was happy they discovered this leak.
As another reviewer has noted, I liked how they created videos of the work they were to perform before they started work so you know they aren’t scamming you. I will also confirm that they are slow to bill. It took about 3 months to get my final bill — not a major annoyance but I transferred some money to my checking account anticipating a bill and it takes some discipline not to spend money staring you in the face! :)
They are also very blunt in their explanation of what needs to be done so that can rub people the wrong way but people always say they want companies to «level with them» so what more can you ask for? I would certainly consider using Gutter Ethics again. It’s been about 6 months since they completed their work and the new gutters look to be working nicely. Finally no more drips between the fascia board and gutters!

Exceptional service. I had Gutter Ethics install a new roof last spring and was very satisfied with every aspect. The approach,(including a series of iPad videos showing my roof issues and the new installation process), the price, the work crew, the timeliness, the quality installation, and the follow up were all outstanding. Had a couple minor issues this year and the owner, Justin Stanley, replied personally within minutes or hours of my emails (which were not during business hours). Justin even came by on a Sunday night during ice storm to check out the situation personally. He always follows up each visit to ensure everything is still ok. Definitely check this company out if you need any type of roofing service.

During one of this spring’s monsoons, we discovered a leak in the roof over an infrequently-​used room. It had probably been leaking (during the right kind of windy, heavy-​rain storms) for a while. It’s been a roof-​trying year in the DC area, so all the places we called were booked up for weeks or months for repairs. I’d pretty much given up on getting the leak addressed before June until these guys called me back.
Unlike many of the others, who couldn’t be bothered to either return initial calls or «we’d like to schedule paid-​work» calls, Justin was very prompt in getting back to me and getting an estimator on site. And, unlike the five other companies that *did* send someone out to give an estimate, Justin’s crew actually went up on the roof to survey the problem area and provided pictures of the work to be done. Even had they been as expensive as the other estimates (they weren’t), the fact they actually eyeballed the problem area *and* provided photos meant that I’d have chosen them.
Since the work was trivial to complete, they didn’t bother to put us on their schedule. They just said, «next good-​weather day we have a crew nearby, we’ll have the stop by to do the work». That turned out to be late Friday of the same week.
Throughout the entire affair, their staff was extremely courteous and efficient in their work. We’ve had three *good* rains since the work was done and no leaks!
If I had any complaints, it would be that they were slow in billing me. On the plus side, it meant the work was tested before I shelled out for it. Minus side is I don’t like debts waiting for me, so I had to be patient about truing up my account.
If I ever need roofing or related work, I’ll definitely be calling these guys again: good work, great interactions and timely.
