I love Freddy’s so very much. It’s like if Steak and Shake had a baby with Culver’s but forgot the cheese curds. That’s forgiven, though, because the burgers and custard are both far superior than their counterparts. The burgers are outstanding. They’re those thin patties that get a nice char on the outside. The buns are soft and tasty, and the double is a pretty great portion size that doesn’t leave you feeling too hungry or guilty. The fries are the very thin, shoestring kind, much thinner than your typical fast food. If you’ve been to Smashburger, they’re like that. The fry seasoning and fry sauce are both great complements. The custard is also fantastic, just as you were hoping it was when you got down this far in my review. And if you follow my reviews as religiously as you should, you’ll already know that Chicago-style hot dogs are my favorite thing in the world, and while Freddy’s does it «Freddy’s style», they are proudly using Vienna beef, with all of the correct toppings except the poppy-seed bun, so they get my stamp of approval.

Service was poor, could not hear cashiers as part of problem was the music was extremely loud. Burgers were great along with shakes and you get a lot of fries. Plenty of parking. Is located in the Walmart super center plaza

Like Steak and Shake — only much better! This is my favorite burger place. I don’t get the bad reviews, I have always had a good experience. The burgers are a bit greasy, but that is the style. The Midwest style smashed burger is a little«juicy», but that’s what makes it good.

I usually love going to Freddy’s and having a burger and relaxing. But today I ordered like I usually do. The guy at the register told me one thing but when I went to pick up my food they told me another. They were rude to me and embarrassed me. This place has a lot of sentimental value because I used to eat here with my surrogate grandfather Harold. But making me feel like a fool will probably keep me from coming back. Thanks a lot Freddy’s in Springfield, you just lost a loyal customer.

Over priced tasteless greesy food. Waste of money. Custard was good though. And friendly staff.

CAMEHEREFORSOMESTANDARDCHICKENSTRIPSAND I LEFTWITHEXPLOSIVEDIARRHEAAND A QUEEZYSTOMACHTHERESTOFTHENIGHT. Also, what kind of nonsense off-brand ranch do they serve there? It’s basically milk with salt, not thick and creamy as you would hope. This gets two stars because it comes out real hot, you feel me? Go to sonic.

We traveled from Texas and had not heard about Freddys; very impressed! Very clean and very fast. Josh the manager is extremely friendly and hospitable. Food is excellent. I highly recommend the patty melt. Excellent food. Reasonable prices.

I tried the Italian beef with hot peppers, sadly available for a limited time only. You can get it dry, wet or dipped, or with extra au jus on the side. I ordered it dipped-and made a big point about it– but they forgot and served it bone dry. The au jus makes the sandwich! Luckily I had asked for some extra au jus on the side. The sandwich was good, but could be better. The problem is they just don’t know how to serve a proper Italian beef. You have to steep the beef in the au jus so it absorbs all that wonderful seasoning, and not just warm it up in the micro at the last minute. Otherwise the meat ends up a bit rubbery and also lacking in flavor. They charge $ 6, but like most chain restaurants there’s about an inch of extra plain bun. I would happily pay another buck to get a properly loaded sandwich. The onion rings were superb and the best thing about my meal. The turtle concrete I ordered was a big disappointment, however. With a name like concrete, you’d think it would be thick enough to eat with a spoon, especially since that’s what they serve it with. I needed a straw for mine. The taste was nothing special, and it was very pricey, to boot. I will not be ordering that again. I doubt I would order any dessert there again, based on my experience.

Took the entire family, all 5 of us got sick. Parents went a few days later and they got sick too. Their friends went about a week after my family did, guess what. They got sick as well. Ate there once, that was more than enough. Their food is very similar to Steak n Shake but not as good.

Oh, Freddy’s. It is located conveniently enough and reminds me of a modern/updated Steak n Shake(read: not super exciting, but again, convenient). Freddy’s Cheese Burgers and grilled cheese are pretty standard-issue for that fare. Shoestring French fries with Freddy’s special«fry sauce» are a somewhat unique feature. Take those fries up a few notches and go for the Chili-cheese fries(with onions, please), and again with the(*drool*) fry sauce. Their sweet tea is sweetened with Splenda, which I appreciate. The custard treats are ok, but I’d rather spend that kind of money on the real thing(aka Andy’s right across the street!) The prices are a little high, the ambience kind of neon/bright and the seating borders on cold/uninviting, which is fine since the goal for any fast-food«burgers n fries» joint is to pack in the crowds and turn over the tables quickly. In the end: Not hating, but not passionate unless it’s about a late-night drive-through run for chili cheese fries and sweet tea!

5 stars so what can I say? Move over Steak n’ Shake and Culvers! Here you find Excellent burgers(love the California style double cheeseburger), nice fries, great custards and extremely friendly service. Wish they had one in my town!

Freddy’s is one of my favorite places to get a burger. I really like super thin burgers and that’s what Freddy’s excels at! I love to get the Patty Melt. It has 2 patties, cheese, and the best grilled onions. The baskets come with a generous portion of shoe string fries cooked nice and crispy. Don’t leave without trying the special Freddy’s sauce. Couldn’t tell ya what it us but it is perfect to dip your fries and burger into! They also serve a nice variety of vanilla custard treats. I am not a fan of custard — it is a thicker, richer ice cream. But the do have a good custard sandwich that I will get now and again. We stopped at this particular location last night driving through town and it was very clean and the staff was very friendly(just like other locations I have been to). Always consistent. Always delicious!

I have never been a lover of the thin and crispy burger but Freddy’s has made me a fan. It is now my favorite area burger. What jumps out at you is the great beefy taste of the burger that is lacking in most other burgers. Eve thin and crispy they still are juicy and flavorful everytime. The. The condiments are always crisp and fresh as is the bun. I’ve never had a bad burger here. Last night I tried the green hatch chili dog on a whim and it was great as well. They even toast the hot dog bun which made for extra flavor. My only issue is that I still do not love the small cut fry but you cant have it all I guess.

I love Freddy’s. When I was first introduced to the chain, I was told it was similar to Steak ‘n Shake, but better. They did not lie. The burgers are crispier, the cheese fries are great, and the shakes are wonderful.

I really love this place when I’m looking for a good burger! It’s a nice family restaurant with diner atmosphere! I love the stories at every booth about how the place came to be. The burgers are fresh, always hot, and all without a terribly long wait. Every time I eat here it’s busy, and the service has never been bad! It’s clean, comfortable and delicious! The staff has always been attentive and sweet, despite the volume of business. The fries are crisp and hot every time. They have a sauce called Freddie’s fry sauce and it’s heaven! They also have a «hold» system for desert so you can buy now but pick it up when you’re finished. No more melty desert! This really is my favorite fast food place! The only down side is the location, it’s not near much else, making it a place I only visit if I’m going to the library, or seriously needing a good burger.

The surprise veggie burger option aside, Freddy’s seems to be just a super expensive Steak n’ Shake. That being said, I have no idea why anyone would eat here when they could just, y’know… go eat at Steak n’ Shake. Plus, the strictly red-and-white 50’s hop theme is a little overdone by now and looks incredibly sterile. Maybe I’m just missing something, but it definitely just seems irrelevant to me to drop twice the amount of money here for the same meal I could get elsewhere, and elsewhere has more attentive service and not Pepsi products. Just sayin’.

I went for lunch today an found the place busy but efficient. I got my food as I ordered it and quick. I enjoyed the fries and fry sauce but the burger was dry and bland. It was kind of disappointing. I know they are thin steak burgers but they just didn’t taste like anything. I’ve had other steak burgers so I know they can be better. I’ll try them again but if I get the same burger I’ll be done.

Great place. Prices are the same as McDonalds. Go with the #4 combo. It’s a hamburger and hot dog combo, fries and a drink for $ 7.19. Add chili to the dog for $ 0.60. Don’t forget the fry sauce. Complete line of custard fixings. Large is only $ 4.09. Order your custard with your meal, put it on hold until after you eat so it won’t melt. It’s Steak ‘n Shake and Andy’s custard all in one. Wish we has one on the east side of town.

Overall, I really like their burgers, and to me that’s what counts. This place has become very popular during the lunch hour, so it does get noisy and crowded. If you don’t like crowds you may check elsewhere. Typically Freddy’s has excellent customer service. If it’s not busy, folks come around and ask if they can take away any trash, trays, or refill your drinks. This is a nice touch for a quick service restaurant. The Steakburgers are quite good. I’ve had the original double, and the California Style Double. I prefer the original with some mayo.(The California style does not measure up to In & Out burger) I would rank this place 3rd or 4th on my burger list in Springfield. 1: The Roost 2: Five Guys 3:(tie) Whisler’s and Freddy’s.

Bland food, poor service, expensive, and incredibly noisy. Went there the first week they were open and got some chicken fingers and fries. The fries had a hair in them. When I brought them back to the counter, the person there just shoved a new side of fries and waived me off. No apology, no nothing.
