Installation, sanding and refinishing of solid hardwood floors. We can install any species of wood that is available, whether unfinished or prefinished. We will do true laminate floors, but not the floating-​floor type. We can also cut out damaged flooring and patch in new wood where there may have been water or pet damage.

History

Established in 1998.

From the time my father started Davis Floor Sanding in Champaign in 1977, I’ve been around hardwood floors. By age 12, I was helping with little things at jobs. By 15, I was installing and refinishing. Once I graduated high school, I was doing it all — sanding & refinishing, patching, and installing. Though I did a lot of refinishing, during the building boom of the 80s and 90s, I was installing new floors full time.

I kept working for my Dad until I decided I was going to start my own flooring business. I got things going in 1998, and continued to build the business when I moved to Springfield in 2001.

As of 2014, I have 30 years’ experience in the business. I often think that in all this time, I’ve seen everything — but the one thing I look most forward to is seeing the look on a customer’s face when they see a new floor go in, or see an old floor being refinished to look new again.

That’s the beauty of a wood floor. The warmth and comfort of real wood truly make you feel at home.

In addition to flooring, Jason is an avid reader and always loves to learn new things. You’ll never see him working without his headphones because not only does he want to protect his hearing, he can’t resist a good audiobook or nerdy science podcast!
