Favorite Chinese food ever. I usually get the Vegetable Lo Mein, and I’ve tried many other places, but this place has a special spot in my heart. Also, I like how you can get rice on the side… Most places I’ve been to don’t do that. Very good locally owned Chinese restaurant in Springfield, OH.

Here I sit, all alone in my sad, windowless cubicle, REJOICING as I celebrate my lunch HALF hour, enjoying my AMAZINGLYDELICIOUS pad thai leftovers from Springfield’s semi-questionable(is it open/still in business??) hole in the wall, China Place… Ahhhhhhhhh, life– It doesn’t get much better than this… Well, yes, it does, but not here, in the middle of «culinary no-man’s land,» Springfield, Ohioooooooo! The rest of the menu here, you can take it, leave it, or find it in just about any same old, same old Chinese joint, but the Gods smiled down on us and the Red Sea parted when this place decided to add this perfectly seasoned Pad Thai(and a couple of other Thai-style curries that I haven’t given a chance yet ’cause I’m STUCK on the P.T.) to their menu… Ohhhhhh, I’ve just GOTTA get out more often…

As others have stated, the décor of the restaurant inside and out could be refurbished. That being said, for the quality of the food you cannot find a better Chinese restaurant in Springfield. The business is run by several family members, the majority of which recognize repeat customers and their order preferences. While the menu items my family and I have tried are tasty, the shining stars of the menu are the Thai selections. The green and red curries are equally good, and the spice level can be increased by request. Overall this is an excellent local eatery that I recommend you try!

As the other review stated, this place is a complete dive, inside and out. I even recall as a kid driving by this building circa 1995, it was then being used as a church. For years I drove by the little Chinese restaurant and wondered, «When is this place going to fold?» I moved from Springfield in 2000, but on a return visit in 2010, I finally decided to take the dive:) Well, I must admit that this place has the best Chinese food that I know of. The General Tso’s is outstanding, and they have lunch deals that include an entrée, amazing crab wonton, soup, and rice for like $ 5.95! No drink fountain, but you want to take your grub to go:) Enjoy!

Chinese food being one of my favorite cuisines to have at a restaurant, I’m always looking for a great take-out place. China Palace is my new Springfield favorite. The place is really a dive from the looks inside and out, but somehow all that«character» seems to add a little something special. If you have to close your eyes to give this place a try, make it happen because I think you really will enjoy it. Only negative is no fountain drinks even for dine-in so no free refills.
