Best Dive Bar in Springfield! I have been coming to the Butternut hut for about 2 years and thought it was only right that I post a review after my most recent trip. The Hut is a small dark bar with great staff and great beer specials. You can always count on catching a Cubs game there or if your a Cardinals fan I guess they carry your games as well. Free popcorn is always available and is sad as it may seem for me that’s a huge plus. The outdoor patio doesn’t have a bar but it allows those of us who smoke a chance to step outside and enjoy a cigarette with our drink. On a few occasions I’ve seen some great local jam bands rock out the small little patio. The butternut hut is dirty, cheap, and inviting. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

What a great little dive bar. The outdoors is covered with ceiling fans and open windows. This is where the band plays. They have 7 tables outside with a few gambling machines. Christmas lights hanging from the ceiling. The inside is small but quaint. Popcorn machine. Score!!! About 5 beers on tap to include four local beers on tap. They have a full bar with a gaming machine inside. They have several flat screen TV’s inside. 4 flat screen TV’s outside. Will definitely visit again. The inside is insulated enough that the band doesn’t bleed through the walls too bad.

Bob’s is a great place place that packs a solid experience into a small space.; It really looks like a humble hut outside, and the inside isn’t much prettier. But you’re here to drink, talk, and listen to music, not look at fine art. The bartender is quick to fill(or refill) your cup, and the patrons are friendly. I’ll like the Hut’s wall of separation between band area and bar area. That way, the patron has the choice of listening to music or talking with friends.

This place is everything a dive bar should be. Odd locals, great servers, bartender and about 500sqft! Love the small local feel. I stopped in for a couple beers before turning in for the night. I was on my way to CVS for some tooth paste and crossed this little gem on my walk. If you are ever in the area stop in! They have two local brews on tap. I only tried the Nut Brown Ale from a Springfield brewery, an it was excellent! We need more of these types of bars. Kudos to butternut!
