This review is only for their showers. My girlfriend and I camped for a few days in nearby campground in Zion NP, and as you can imagine, after some hiking we wanted to shower. They charge $ 5 for 7 minutes, which in my view isn’t too bad. Earlier in the trip we showered in the Grand Canyon’s showers on the North Rim. I can’t understand why all large national parks don’t offer shower services, but that’s for another review! Anyway, you have to buy a special coin to use the showers, so we did that easy peasy. We waited about 5 minutes until a shower was available. One nice thing is you can walk from the local campground to the showers quickly. We stayed in the southern most campground and were able to walk there in less than 10 minutes.
There are only two shower stalls, so waiting could be an issue during busy times. The shower stalls were pretty gross. I wanted to get out of there asap. There didn’t seem to be much venting, so it gets very humid in the rooms. I was sweating by the time I got out. There is a few square feet to change but not much. Overall, I still wanted a shower and would use those facilities if I have no better option, but it seems to me they could do much better than these. Also, when we were in the other NP I mentioned, the cost was $ 1.75 for 6 minutes, and those were much cleaner, larger, and there were more of them available. When comparing the two, it seems Zion Outfitter isn’t putting much energy or resources into making this a more profitable and useful service. I’m sure it is a small part of their income.

The walking stick and package with shoes and neoprene socks are a definite must when hiking through The Narrows. Totally worth it for $ 25.

Zion Outfitter is conveniently located just outside South Campground and the park visitor center, in a plaza with a market that I made many trips to during my weeklong trip.
We dropped by looking for gear to hike the Narrows since I knew that my Nikes and clumsiness might lead to my untimely demise without the help of some serious equipment. Water boots, neoprene socks, and walking stick rental was only $ 25 and they were all in great, clean condition. They had plenty of sizes, including a size 15 for my big-​footed companion. Apparently, this is the only rental place in the area that carry this humongous size, but my friend claims that they were really size 14. Everyone working was great and friendly.
They also have two pay showers, but one was out of commission the week I visited. $ 5 for 5 minutes. The water was nice and hot. Pay for tokens at the store or if they’re closed, bring cash and buy tokens at the market next door (which closes at 10).

We rented shoes, socks and poles here today to hike the narrows. Great service, the gear was top notch and it made our day of hiking very enjoyable. We saw so many ppl doing this hike without the right gear and it looked miserable. If you are going to do the narrows stop by this place (no reservation needed if your group is less than 15 ppl) spend the $ 25 and trust me you won’t regret it.

Great service and product quality! I looked at both Zion Outfitter and Zion Adventure Rentals, but ultimately decided to go with Zion Outfitter. We were already inside the park, and Zion Outfitter is right outside the park gates! It’s a quick maybe 1 minute walk there. The staff were really friendly, and it was an easy, quick (less than 5 – 10 min) and positive experience. Just speculation, but I think a place thats bigger, like Zion Adventure, will probably be just more in the hustle and bustle of work and less friendly. I like renting from smaller companies for that reason.
We rented gear for the Narrows and are so glad that we did. We got the warm water package, which included boots (with ankle support), neoprene socks, and a walking stick. Rentals for two people came out to $ 45. Totally worth it! With all the rocks in the river, I probably would have twisted my ankles without the boots.

If hiking the narrows, I definitely recommend the shoes, socks, and walking stick! Loved the service at Zion Outfitters – friendly staff and we were in and out within 20 minutes!

After searching all the rental places in the area, I concluded that Zion Outfitter would be the most ideal place to rent your gear, especially if you’re hiking the Narrows.
It’s located just outside the Visitor’s center and right next to the shuttle busses. They have a ton of different sizes of shoes, bikes, and other things for your trip. I liked this place because if you rent after 5PM, they let you keep the shoes and let you return them the next day. Since they don’t open until after 7AM, I suggest renting your items the day before so that you can start your day early the next day.
Got the Narrows package, which comes with a wooden stick, neoprene socks, and water shoes for around $ 25 per person. If you check in on Unilocal,they give you 10% off when you leave a tip or comment. I highly suggest renting this package since you won’t have to worry about 1) wetting your precious hiking shoes and having to wait til they dry, 2) for STABILIZATION while hiking the Narrows, and 3) SAFETY. With the shoes, you don’t slip on the rocks which makes it easier to hike and not fall. Prevent your ankle from twisting! It’s 100% worth it and I’m so glad that I rented before hiking.

I highly suggest you come here before hiking the narrows. I almost decided on not taking a stick – CRAZY! So glad I came here and rented one. I think it was about 7 ish dollars. My boyfriend also rented the whole package (waterproof boots, water socks, and a stick) and it was affordable as well (under 30 bucks I think). We rented them before closing the day before, and returned them after our hike the next day.
Another bonus: If you happen to be camping, just walked ten miles in the heat, and need to shower desperately… this is the place to go! I paid 5 dollars for about 5 minutes. They just give you a token to put in the box inside the private shower. Plus, its really close to camp, so you don’t have to search far. You can even walk if you want.

I’ve used Zion Outfitters twice now for narrows hikes and have had an excellent experience both times. The staff is extremely friendly, helpful, and informative answering any of your questions. Close to the park entrance, reasonable prices, and highly recommended!

This is the go-​to spot if you plan on hiking the narrows. I would not suggest hiking without some good water gear as the rocks tend to be pretty slippery and the water is pretty damn cold. You probably also want to pick up a good walking stick to keep your balance. Just warning you before you get all the way out there.

Great experience here. Came in on ⁴⁄₂ around 2pm with the intent of renting gear for the narrows. Beforehand, we checked out Zion Adventure Rentals down the road… but thankfully we came to Outfitters instead due to two key reasons.
Zion Outfitters is located at the Visitor center, only a minute walk from the shuttle buses to the Zion Valley. They had a 8pm return time for their rentals, compared to Zion Adventure. Also, for boots, walking stick, and socks came out to $ 41. Zion Adventure was $ 51 and their return time was 8pm.
Our group of 6 were very pleased with the service from Zion Outfitters especially from Preston. He informed us of a lot of tips and tricks about Zion and Springdale. Really cool dude, he even offered to give us a drive to our RV cause our shuttle to Springdale was running late and we were freezing cold after a long hike thru the narrows. Thanks again, bro!

Good equipment, worked well for our family of four. Quick & easy rental. Nice staff except for 1 tiny lady who tried to charge us extra $ 10 dollars for parking until the guy who fitted our equipment told us we can get a pass to park in the lot for free because we rented from them — thank you nice guy.

Rented our dry suits to hike the Narrows and were able to pick it up at 6pm the day before, saving us time in the morning. The cost was very affordable, and the guys at the shop were knowledgeable and pleasant. Would definitely recommend paying them a visit during your next trip to Zion, since The Narrows should not be missed!

We decided that we were going to hike the Narrows on Labor Day. First thing we did was go to the Zion Outfitters. So convenient. Right by Cable Mountain Lodge and the entrance to Zion National Park Visitors Center.
We walk in and are greeted immediately. There are so many people there and we wanted to get water shoes for the Narrows. They talked us into the water package which was water boots, water socks, and walking stick all for $ 22. The water socks keeps your feet warm in the 40 degree water. The shoes has great grip for the slippery rocks and the walking stick is literally a stick with a rope so you can put your hand through it. Stick helps with strong current and checking in front of you.
Anyways, after we rented the gear we went back to the lodge. Lo and behold we have wifi at the lodge so I check into the Outfitters and I see a Unilocal 10% discount. Went back and had no problem getting my discount.
Very cool people working there. Very knowledgable and giving us tips for our hike. Also, we rented inner tubes for going down the river too. Plus they have bikes and strollers for rent too.
I would really recommend you renting the gear from the Outfitters. The water gear really made our hike really enjoyable.

Zion Outfitters is located next to the South Entrance of Zion National Park in Springdale, UT. The store is conveniently located at the front gate to the park. You can use their parking lot to park your car if you are renting equipment from them. The store rents water shoes, bikes, tubes for the river, and other hiking accessories.
So, I am going hiking on the Narrows hiking trail in Zion National Park. I did not have any idea what equipment I was going to need for the hike. This is my first trip here and I am not familiar with the terrain. Fortunately I chose this store to come and rent my gear because the guy at the store (Jim) that helped me was a big help.
Jim got us all squared away with the gear we needed for the narrows hike. We even picked the gear up in the evening and brought it with us back to the hotel so we could get an early start the next morning. He also spent time telling us about the park and the trails.
Equipment for the Narrows Hike:
–Water Shoes.
–Water Socks.
–Hiking Stick. $ 22 per person.
Plastic Bags for our cell phones — $ 4 ea.
They even had a size 14 for me. I did not ask if they stocked sizes larger than 14.
The equipment looks like it has been used quite a bit, but as long as it does the job. Jim also assured me that all of the equipment is thoroughly sanitized after every use.
I definitely recommend picking up your hiking gear from Zion Outfitters.

Even though there are several outfitters in Springdale, I had decided to go with Zion Outfitter to rent gear for The Narrows mainly because they are conveniently located literally right next to the pedestrian entrance to Zion. My boyfriend and I were more than pleased with this choice!
Before I reserved my gear with Zion Outfitter, I emailed them several questions. They were very responsive. After I decided to go with them, I was easily able to reserve my gear over the phone with them for my Narrows hike in June.
Come June, my boyfriend and I made a short trek from Cable Mountain Lodge (great place to stay!) to the outfitter. The staff couldn’t find my reservation on file, but they were still very friendly and accommodating. They helped fit us into our Adidas Hydropros (they have 5.10s for smaller feet and kids), gave us neoprene socks, and hiking sticks. If I had any questions, they were more than willing to answer. After they fitted us, I told them I would go back to our room and get a printout of our reservation. They were very kind and let me do that and everything got sorted out with no issue!
The gear itself was a heaven send. I don’t know how anyone does The Narrows without canyoneering shoes. They provided great ankle support. The squishy sensation you get as you walk through the Virgin River is a fun bonus!
The return process was very easy. We just had to drop our shoes in a bin, give back the socks, and put back the sticks. The staff member helping us out at the end of the day was very nice as well!
Overall, my experience with Zion Outfitter was wonderful. They have good and clean gear. Their price point is very good ($ 22 for a warm weather package and if you stay at Cable Mountain Lodge, you get a 10% discount; although we did stay at Cable Mountain Lodge, we wanted to support their business and not mention it :)) They have an amazing staff! Nothing can replace the convenience! If I could give Zion Outfitter 10 stars, I would! Thank you for helping me make my Narrows experience unforgettable!

The people that work there are pretty nice. Just about $ 20 for water shoes and a walking stick. Can return up to 11pm at the market (8pm in store).
Only negative is the $ 5 for 5 minutes of shower

We stayed Cable Mountain Lodge and so it made sense to rent all of our gear right next door at Zion Outfitters.
The employees were really helpful and super nice, and the $ 22 warm weather package (socks, shoes, hiking stick) for hiking the Narrows worked out well. Every item was good quality and fitting, rental, and drop off were all quick and easy.
Definitely recommended!
