Fast friendly service, very clean, amazing food,(the loaded baked potato is awesome) You won’t need a take out box.

Ordered take out for an office lunch and found them to be a bit pricey for what you get. I ordered the turkey sandwich and thought the turkey was a bit dry. The restaurant is cute and tiny, but I found the menu to be a bit limited. Overall no one was too disappointed with their lunch. Not sure if it was good enough to try again however.

Decent BBQ and the place is very cute! We had the pulled pork and smoked spicy sausage, both were yummy! Service was fast and our table was clean!

Beware, the BBQ is incredibly average and he pulled pork is SALTY! Definitely try the banana pudding. The building is small with a down home, ok timey, train station feel. The bathroom reminded me of a double wide bathroom which, unfortunately is appropriate since the whole restaurant lives in a double wide trailer. I can see where they tried to pile on the charm, but really the food should be more interesting than the décor and it just isn’t.

I had high expectations for this place based on the drive up appeal. Service was great and the food was decent. I usually satisfy my craving for BBQ at Rudy’s, and I do not feel compelled to change my routine based on this experience.

Im from San antonio and I was in town for buisness. My boss and I stopped in for lunch. I should have known it was going to be a bad experience by empty parking lot at lunch time. The employees were friendly but the bbq was gross. There was no smoke on the brisket. I had the jumbolya for a side and it was dry and over seasoned. The sausage was ok but again no smoke flavor. The beans were bland and the mac and cheese average. Come to san antonio if you want real tx. bbq.

Very Good BBQ! Their BBQ sauce is the bomb! They have two locations on Sawdust and Rayfod and you cant go wrong at either. Staff is always nice and pleasant. Can;t give them a full 5-star becuase their corn is ALWAYS soggy. thats the only downfall, its not bad at all!

Had a taste for a bbq baked potato, but decided against the cold ones from Rudy’s(although tasty). The brisket was in chunks like Alpo and no matter what I added it felt like it was missing something. I saw mostly old people coming in to order, so maybe that accounts for the lack of flavor. The bbq was mediocre and I don’t feel the need to give it a second try. Even tried the banana pudding, but threw it away since it tasted more like boxed pudding mix.

They claim to be voted best bbq in The Woodlands. All I know is the pulled pork is the best I have had outside the Carolinas. Of course their pulled pork is Memphis style instead of Carolina style. The brisket is delicious too. I prefer their bbq beans to any other around town.

I’ve only been once but can’t wait to go back. This is truly exceptional barbecue! We had a group of six guys and put away large quantities of pretty much everything they sell. I had the Pit-Master’s Special — brisket, pork ribs and sausage, then added a side to get the necessary barbecue sides trinity, barbecue beans, potato salad and cole slaw. I’m on a huge barbecue kick. Been all over the state, bought a $ 400 smoker and a $ 100 remote thermometer, watch all the BBQ shows on TV, and I am saying right here right now that this is the best barbecue on Houston’s north side. I’m not going to compare it to Gatlin’s or any of the other institutions inside the loop, but it beats Corkscrew and that’s saying something. Listen: The ribs are solid meat but still juicy. I mean, there’s no fat layer, and they’re perfectly reddish pick, smoked perfectly and the best pork ribs I’ve ever had, anywhere. The brisket, requested lean, was cut super thin, maybe 1/8″, and looked like an ad for brisket, it was that perfect. One nit, it was just a tad dry, but their barbecue sauce is fantastic and I loved dipping. Then the sausage, wow, just perfect. Spicy, juicy but not fatty, great. The owner came by to check on us and I told him that I thought he had the best barbecue in Spring or The Woodlands and asked him where in the HELL he found those ribs. He said they were Hormel and only available to the trade. Bummer! Then he took me through his kitchen to his cooker, built into an outside wall. Wow! Six feet wide, four feet high and a huge rotating machine with trays covered by brisket and large pork cuts that had been started for the next day. I asked if gas-fueled and he smiled and said no, just wood. Of course! I guessed that it was oak and he told me he uses a combination of oak, hickory, pecan and ______(can’t remember, but apple maybe?). All I know is, I’m using that same combination at home from now on. But I know I’ll never make anything like this at home. Hell, I’ll be lucky if I ever find barbecue like this at any other restaurant. So I’m just coming back here, and can’t wait til the next time. Do yourself a favor and try this place out. FYI, they have two locations, the one we went to was the one on Sawdust. No idea how the other one is, but I’ll find out.

Walked in with a family of 5. Didn’t read the fine print on the family pack when I ordered and was told that it was for take out only. The restaurant was empty as we were the first customers. When I asked what the difference was between eating it in restaurant and taking it outside, they told me it was because of the packaging that I couldn’t eat it in the restaurant. Clearly BS. So instead, I ordered $ 16 worth of food for my family and the restaurant lost $ 10 in sales because of that stupidity. The food was average, but not bad. I won’t be back.

I went here for the first time with my lunch group from work. The place was not too crowded at lunchtime(maybe half full). Not sure what to make of that considering the popularity of bbq around here. Everything inside seemed clean and nice. The tables are little smallish especially since there were 4 of us. Prices are going to be above average for lunch which is typical of bbq. I had the brisket and sausage(spicy) combo with potato salad and coleslaw. Others in my group had ribs and brisket. Overall we were all in agreement that the brisket was dry. It was also a little bland and didn’t have a good smoke. As a result, I had to add a bit of sauce. Their sauce, I thought, was good. There was a choice of 2 — Memphis and Texas styles. The sausage had a nice spice and overall was very tasty. The feedback on the ribs from the others was basically so-so. Nothing special. Everyone did like their sides. The potato salad and coleslaw were very good. Portions were also very nice. Everyone commented about how full they were afterward. Overall, I would say it’s a pretty average bbq joint. I would not go out of my way to come here considering the other options available.

$ 18.06 for a two meat(brisket & ribs) plate with two sides & a ice tea. Not much flavor in the meat, had to add sauce to wash the brisket down. Ribs were tender enough but again not much flavor. Next time I’m in that area, I’ll .cross the freeway to that place on Budde rd.

Food was excellent! It was definitely the best pulled pork I’ve had. The gal behind the counter seemed a bit shy, but otherwise helpful!

First time here. I had the chopped baked potato. I was impressed. Normally chopped means shredded fatty meat drowned in bbq sauce at other places. This was actual nicely sliced chunks of lean brisket. Delicious. My husband had the ribs. The meat was falling off the bone. Very tender. I dont usually like a sweet BBQ sauce but this one was not overly sweet. They used it for the chopped brisket. However, they do have a second sauce with no sweetness to add to what you order. That one was really good. Place was CLEAN, and very cute décor. Service was super friendly. The lady taking our order was so swet and helpful. A+

I was expecting a great meal here since there other location on the other side of 45 has never let me down(love the big tex burger) but this location was the complete opposite. The Restaurant: The interior of the restaurant is clean and welcoming. The tables, floor and counter tops were very clean; everything I look for when I’m at a new restaurant for the first time. Staff: The young lady at the counter was nice and polite and waited patiently while we decided what to order. – The first thing I noticed walking in despite the cleanliness was that we were the only people in there during what should have been a busy lunch hour. This is clue one that maybe its not so great, because a good bbq joint should be somewhat full during lunch and dinner hours. When I try a bbq joint for the first time I always get the sliced brisket because I think its a good indicator of how good the rest of the food is. — I ordered the sliced brisket with mac-n-cheese and coleslaw; — My wife ordered the ½ chicken with the same sides; — and our daughter had a sliced brisket sandwich with mac-n-cheese. Service was quick and the first thing I noticed visually was how dried out the brisket was. My wife looked at her chicken and said«Why is it so flat»? then she smelt it and it smelt like a dirty dish towel. We isolated the smell to the serving tray thankfully. The brisket — Horribly over cooked and dry. It had an excellent smoke ring and probably one of the top smoke rings I’ve ever seen, it was damn near perfect. However, it was dry as all hell and lacked any real flavor. Now it wasn’t absolutely horrible, but it was pretty damn bad. The chicken — Once my wife got over the look of it,(and the smell coming from the serving tray) she said it tasted pretty good but was way overcooked as well and as dry as the Sahara desert. She couldn’t even eat the breast because it just turned to mushy chalk in her mouth. The mac-n-cheese — The mac was awesome and we all agree on that. But maybe it was just awesome because it was the only thing we could stand to eat. The coleslaw — The coleslaw was a little strange. It was regular coleslaw and it tasted pretty good, but it had a weird brownish/off-white tint that was hard to get past. Drinks — We all had the soda fountain and they all tasted like crap. I don’t think the soda lines have ever been cleaned in this place. I recommend bottled water or a beer. As long as it don’t come from the soda machine, you should be o’k. Overall — This place just sucks. I feel like I threw $ 30 dollars away and I should have just went up and demanded my money back before the first bite. A great option would be to buy a sack of kibbles and bits and go to town, just as dry but a lot more flavor. Dog’s don’t lie.

For those living east of the tracks on Rayford, this is a great location! You can’t go wrong with any BBQ selection(ribs, brisket, turkey, pork), it’s ALL good. Two BBQ sauces to choose from: Texas and Memphis Some sides are«eh», and could use a bit more work.(e.g. jambalaya) The staff is great — super friendly and helpful. Prices are reasonable

If you’re like me, you probably had some very particular expectations for the barbecue when you moved to Texas. You may have pictured red-and-white checkered table cloths and messy ribs and super sweet desserts and massive portions and kitschy décor and Fox news on the TV. So what did you do? I’ll tell you what you did – you got on Unilocal and checked the little box that says«Most Reviewed» so you could see the must-try barbecue places around town, because popular = famous = the absolute *best*, right? But then what happened? You went to County Line, and you were all like, «Seriously?» And then you went to Rudy’s a couple of times with your new friends, and they were like, «See! It’s SOGOOD!» And you were all, «Yeah! I guess… I guess this is what I was hoping for.» And maybe you said that because you were with your friends and you didn’t want to ruin your dinner, or maybe you saw that all the right ingredients were there, so what more were you expecting? Or maybe you had come to the painful realization that this really could be the pinnacle of barbecue dining in Houston. «Welcome to the Lone Star state, sucker,» sneered Texas. (In this scenario, the voice of Texas sounds oddly similar to that of Jules Winnfield.) «Nobody told you, but now you’ll have to drive for HOURS to get anywhere that serves decent barbecue because I’m so absurdly enormous! Don’t you remember the Alamo??» So you gave up, and you let barbecue seep away from the«I need it now» part of your palate and filed it back with the other impossibly unobtainable culinary dreams. Well, my friend, dust off that mental rolodex and reintroduce yourself to what you hoped barbecue in Texas would and could be. This place is a real treat. I don’t want to spoil any surprises, but I will throw a few tidbits for you to let marinate: This is the first Texas barbecue institution I tried that had really, truly, good-and-fall-off-the-bone ribs. I’ve had them elsewhere since, but this was the first. So many places make good sausage. Pit Master makes great sausage. Get yourself some burnt ends of brisket, and you’ll really struggle with the thought of putting sauce on them.(The correct answer is don’t. They don’t need it. Let your taste buds process that amazing flavor.) The mac and cheese is great and gooey when it comes out, and it’s even better as leftovers. The ranch beans are thick and savory. All of the cobblers are great ends to a great meal, but especially save room for the peach(and at this point, who are you kidding? You just ate a ton. Just get it a la mode with Blue Bell vanilla ice cream – it’s a little excessive, but you’ll wish you had if you don’t). Everything about the east location of Pit Master – the near-perfect barbecue, the converted train station, the dozens of novelty bottled sodas, the Fox news – is just like it was in your dreams. Go on a Saturday afternoon with your buddies or the kids and experience harmony, bliss, and the ultimate feeling of «I really shouldn’t have eaten all that but I am *so* happy right now.»
