I just had the absolute best experience with the automotive repair facility at Milstead. Glen really took care of me. I have an older vehicle with hard to find parts but he made it happen. Larry in the towing department coordinated the pickup and delivery of my vehicle. I could not be more pleased with the service I received with Milstead. This is the only towing and repair facility in Spring and the woodlands that I would ever endorse.

Hello, I brought my car in for a tune up. They said they would run all of the tests and have a mechanic look at it. Milstead did just that. They explained what needed to be done and asked me what I wanted done from their list. The office staff was helpful and courteous. I chose what I wanted done and they said ok, no pressure. My car runs great so far. Mpg increased and I have more get up and go. The shuttle service that was provided took me home and picked me back up when the car was ready. Milstead Automotive is slightly more expensive but they seem to be honest. I will return to them for auto repairs.

I have used Millstead Automotive for over 20 years. They have done everything from simple oil changes to major repairs. I have never had a problem with their service or have ever needed to take a car back to them that they repaired. They get it right the first time and work hard to make you happy. You will not be disappointed.

I have been going to Milstead for the past five years. They have worked on both my Chevy truck and my mini Cooper. I have always been very satisfied with their work and their customer service is excellent. The last time I took my truck and I thought I had a major problem with the power steering. The truck acted funny every time I tried to turn the wheel. They took a look at it and come to find out someone had accidentally pushed the four-​wheel-​drive button. They spotted it quickly and I was so relieved it wasn’t a major repair involved. I trust them.

This place seems to have great service. I’ve only had my oil changed here a few times, but for the most part they always do a fantastic job. The staff is kind, and their facilities are clean. They are a popular location on Rayford, so their wait times can be a bit too long. An oil change has taken over an hour most times. Never had a problem with them though! Very affordable. As far as other automotive work goes, I can’t be too sure on that service.
Oh and they have drinks and snacks in their lobby while you’re waiting!

Superior customer service, outstanding head-​to-​toe diagnostics, Honest and Trustworthy, BUT very expensive.
–very friendly employees. They communicate very well, and they call with updates.
–full diagnostics (yes, it is expensive), but they will rip your car apart from heat-​to-​toe and notify you of any found issues. For instance, i only needed a replacement cam sensor, but I was given a rundown of all other issues from brake pads to engine issues, etc. Yes, i get it — it’s a way they can do more work on your car, and add to their bottom line — but you are in command of what you want done, and what you are willing to pay. They are fair, and won’t pressure you in making costly choices.
–Trustworthy and Honest. My experience with auto mechanics in the past, is that many are lacking in this department. It’s not until i hand others my business card which reads «mechanical engineer» on it until they own up to their words. I don’t have that issue at Milstead.
–friendly shuttle service: Unlike other reviews posted here, i have had excellent shuttle service (used it twice) AND at 7am when they open on Monday morning. Call them in advance to be sure, but they WILL find someone to get you where you need to be.
–washed & vacuumed my car. It was returned in much better condition than i left it.
— i had an issue where a part they installed was faulty (Nissan part), and i didn’t discover it until over a month later. They warrantied the part, fixed it free of charge, and still provided me with as much care/​service as before. I understand it wasn’t their fault, but they still took responsibility for it and made it right.
–the costs of parts and labor is expensive. If you know the root issue of your problem and want it done quickly and cheaply, Milstead may not be the best place for you. However, if you want a job done right and done fairly, take it to Milstead.

My air compressor, which runs the air brakes and air suspension, failed on our 43 foot Tourmaster motor coach when we were 60 miles outside of Houston in the middle of nowhere at 4 pm in the afternoon. When your air pressure drops below 40 lbs, your brakes lock up and you cannot move your vehicle, period. I just made it 6 inches off of the road when the brakes locked up. We tried to get AAA rv towing, Progressive rv towing, our extended warranty towing, the Sealy police, but not one of these could find a towing service that could tow our rig, let alone tow it to a place that could fix it. I started searching the internet and making phone calls. Finally somebody referred me to Milstead. I called them at 8pm and the lady on the phone was very helpful. She calmed me down (I was a wreck being in the middle of nowhere and having trucks passing us and shaking us being only 6 inches on the shoulder in the pitch black) She assured me that they could recover the rv and that they repaired all truck chassis and performed all types of diesel rv repairs. She informed me that she would get a truck out asap. She also could hear the semis roaring past us on the highway at 70 miles an hour and called the Sealy police and requested a cruiser for traffic control. I could hear the conversation in the background. The wrecker was dispatched within 15 minutes and finally arrived at 10 pm. Since the suspension was dropped and the brakes locked up the driver had to get air into the system so he could lift the vehicle and release the brakes. This was not an easy feat since the police never showed up, even after I made repeated calls to the Sealy police following the call from Milstead. Carl, the driver, was finally able to get the rv on the wrecker because the wreckers were equipped with an air compressor and the fittings to adapt to our air accumulators. After he pulled the driveshaft we were on our 2 hour drive back to their shop. We finally arrived after 2am and got offloaded. To my surprise they had 30 amp hookup and water. We got all hooked up at finally hit the sack at 3am. When they opened in the morning a technician knocked on the door and I went to the service counter and gave them my extended warranty information. By the way, this place is huge, over 30 bays, and equipped to handle cars, trucks, and the largest of rv’s The tech worked on the motor coach that morning and the service writer handled all the paperwork with the the extended warranty company and located the parts that i needed from freightliner and cummings. The repairs took a couple of days. While we were stuck there, the staff had drivers shuttle us to restaurants and offered the use of a car if necessary. I had several conversations with the owner who made sure we were comfortable and being taken care of. This company took customer service to the next level and my wife and I cannot express our gratitude for the manner in which we were treated from the beginning to the end. The moral of the story, if you break down within a couple of hours of Houston Texas, call this company!!! I hope their dedicated scores of employees get a chance to read this. Had the unfortunate occasion of 2 flat tires. Called my roadside assistance to take me to the dealer. Milstead Towing showed up and not only helped with towing but gave me a better price on the tires and a good quote on a state inspection and oil change. I will definitely be trying them again. My warranty just expired and I am looking for a good shop. They don’t seem pushy at all, which is a hugh plus for me.

Avoid this place at all costs unless you enjoy being screwed!
I took my 2003 VW Golf in yesterday for a diagnostic test. It’s due for its annual inspection. I took it in first thing in the morning. They open at 7am, but their shuttle service doesn’t begin until 8am. They failed to tell me this the day before when I asked when to bring my car in, and if they would have a shuttle to take me to my office. They did say, though, that they work on cars on a first come, first serve basis… so I figured I’d bring it in as early as I could.
They called me 4 hours later (so much for getting the car to their shop early so it could be worked on quickly) to tell me that two problems showed up in their test. First, an engine temperature sensor needed to be replaced — $ 170 for that. Second, the catalytic converter needed replacement — $ 1060 for that. I asked what exactly was wrong with the cat to warrant total replacement of the system, and they simply said «it’s no longer heating the gases enough to pass the emissions test». They said the part would be $ 660 and $ 400 for the labor.
I told them to replace the sensor, but leave the cat alone. After asking around, I found a guy (Steve at Mayco Muffler Shop #2 on Bellaire) who could replace just the cat converter (not the entire system) for only $ 245! This, apparently, is all that is necessary for the car to pass the emissions test.
So, I stopped by Milstead late in the afternoon to pick my car up and take it to the $ 245 guy. They were supposed to have the temp sensor replaced, mind you, but they did not. I paid them $ 90(!!) for the diagnostic test and took my car to Steve. He said he could replace the sensor for only $ 75.
To summarize, I would have paid a total of $ 1320 at Milstead, but instead I ended up paying only $ 340. If you’re a fan of shelling out big bucks for auto repairs, Milstead is the place for you!
