Established in 2013.

We opened in August of 2013 and are now the premier cooking school in Texas. Our state of the art facilities are equipped with all of the equipment you will need to make whatever dish you desire. Looking for a fun afternoon or evening this is the place to go.

Business Owner

A native Texan, Chef Lawrence Fogarty culinary influences are a blend of traditional Southern and local Texas ingredients. He studied at California Culinary Academy in San Francisco and has worked as a chef for Neiman Marcus in both Texas and California. He joined the MainStreet America team in fall 2012 and oversees the kitchens of MAIN Restaurant and Main Course Cooking School. «I’m excited for this incredible opportunity at MAIN Course Cooking School that allows me to continue to educate and entertain clients in the kitchen. This is a GROUP cooking experience. Do not be fooled by the photos of just two people cooking. I read all the Unilocal reviews and no one mentioned it — I went based on people taking husbands and such. Although the food was good, when I selected a «date night» experience as a romantic surprise for my significant other I did not realize we would be eating at a table of strangers as well as having to cook with strangers and not experience the cooking as a couple. I would not recommend this if you wanted quality time with your date — just the two of you — you will have a constant audience during the entire experience. This would be fine if that was the goal. Our goal was a date night that involved cooking and quality time chatting together. Would return but only with another couple or group. Website should really make it clear you are cooking in groups of four.

I originally got a cooking class as a gift for my husband and ever since, we always look for excuses to go back (special date night with friends, gift for parents, etc.)
The food is excellent — my husband and I have prepared several things that we have made in the classes — a mint pea pesto sauce with salmon from a Surf and Turf night, biscuits from a Southern cooking night, mashed sweet potatoes (also from Surf and Turf night I think), this AMAZING apricot horseradish sauce (went with scallops during our Surf and Turf cooking class, but we have put it on anything and everything), and probably a few other things I am forgetting. It’s a great experience all-​around:
— Friendly, helpful staff
— Great and plentiful food
— Includes drinks throughout the night (wine, a selection of beers)
— Includes admission to look at the model homes Mainstreet Americas (I recommend showing up an hour or so early so you can walk through some of them)
— Give you the recipes at the end of the night
— Usually they also take a picture of your group and give you copies to take home with you
— You get to cook delicious food without any of the clean-​up
I would say the only con is it is pricey enough to be a special event, but I think it is appropriately priced for the experience and quality you get.

Hello. We rented out the cooking school for a surprise birthday party for my wife’s 40th and could not have been more pleased. Jenny was outstanding, from the coordination of the event, to the actual event itself. I could not have been more pleased with the outcome. Beyond highly recommended.

OH! WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW!
The class, teacher and establishment exceeded my expectation and my more hard to please husband. I got this as a Christmas gift for my hubby. We cook often and do follow complex recipes and yet we came away learning valuable lessons for cooking daily at home and for dinner parties.
We eat at the best of the best restaurants in Houston and when we go out of town. The food that we made was top notch, could have been served at any top restaurant across the country.
We got to make all 5 items on the menu except the dessert. We made lobster mac n cheese, which included making a sauce, roasted potatoes and roasted asparagus, cheddar and rosemary biscuits, steak and a steak Diane sauce. I do not like red meat anymore, nor do I like steak sauces. I ate 75% of my steak and 100% of my yummy sauce.
Jenny the instructor and her sous chef were amazing teachers. The class was packed yet I felt like we were the only ones cooking. She was thorough, joyful and seemed genuinely excited to be there.
I would love to see a Paleo night on the menu once a month; we would come out there once a month for this. HAVE A PALEO cooking night PLEASE!!!
We will be back, they have kids cooking class, sounds fun, I would send my little one.
Oh and I had class reserved at Sur La Table, but after reading reviews that you only get to cook 1 of he items on the menu we switched and are so thankful we did!!!

I attended the Surf & Turf class with my husband and friends, and it was such a memorable cooking experience. The instructor, Jenny, was so laid-​back, patient, and funny. She shared useful, common sense tips on how to cook salmon/​steak properly that I never knew of before (or heard on Food Network!). The quality of the ingredients were fresh, and the portions hearty. Each couple/​group (up to 4) has an independent cooking station with all the tools and ingredients. The food turned out so yummy, and the pesto turned out to be the unexpected highlight – because it was so delicious yet so easy to make. Not to mention – unlimited wine and beer during class. We’ll definitely be back!

Had a great time here tonight! I went in not really expecting much, but the evening was very enjoyable. Our class cooked an excellent surf n turf, aided by our fabulous & funny instructor/​chef, Jenny. The food turned out wonderfully — very possibly the best salmon/​pesto combo I’ve ever had. Filet mignons were very good as well. Bottomless drinks & free dessert were bonuses! I’m no stranger to the kitchen, but I learned a lot in this class. Great for beginners & experienced cooks alike. Can’t wait to return & will be bringing friends!

Went here as part of a group date and it totally exceeded my expectations. The instructors were very kind, knowledgeable, and funny. We made filet mignon, salmon, salad with vinaigrette, and sweet potatoes. We also made some salmon with a pesto (that was unbelievable). I felt it was well worth the price, and I could say that the food we made seemed restaurant worthy! But I don’t want to take the credit for that. I give credit to the instructors for picking out fresh ingredients, using really easy-​to-​cook recipes, and providing step by step instructions. I am usually the kind who makes only simple spaghetti dishes. Coming to this class helped me realize that everyone had potential to cook great dishes, even if you are a ramen noodle on the couch type of person. If There were any downsides, I would say that we didnt get a chance to make our own desserts (which is understandable due to time constraint), but the dessert is included in the meal that the instructors make before the class.
The class is also very clean, and located between a bunch of models homes that are very fun to explore if you have downtime before the class. I look forward to trying other courses!

Had my husbands birthday party here and everything from start to finish was above and beyond. We had 15 people and the staff and chef were amazing and we all had a great time learning. We made lobser tails, filet mignon and a to die for molten chocolate dessert! Very impressed with everything!

Can’t wait for the next class! The Chef and host were wonderful. I have been to Hubbell & Hubson and this blows it away!
