Neighborhood joint that has good food, and service is always spot on. The Gold Margaritas are potent! Good joint to go to when we don’t feel like cooking.

This hole in the wall Mexican place has decent food for a decent price. This isn’t where you go to take a date but rather where the family goes to eat out on a budget. The food was alright, but nothing amazing… it’s a great example of getting what you pay for. The ambiance of the place is also kind of poor. It’s got a family friendly layout but smells of smoke and has a rather large bar area. So I’m not really sure what’s going on with this place. I wouldn’t drive far to get here, but if you live in the area and just want some okay food and don’t want to spend a lot of money, this is your place.

This place stinks and the customer service is HORRIBLE. I was quoted an incorrect price and the waiter walked away and did not return when it came time to explain the problem. We were overcharged with no consideration for the mishap! NOMANAGERPRESENTTOASSIST! DONOTCOMEHERE!

They have some decent food, but they allow smoking at the bar, and the smoke just doesn’t understand that it’s supposed to stay in the bar. The whole place wreaks of smoke, which ruins your eating experience. At best I would call-ahead an order to go. IMHO they need to decide whether they want to be a smokey bar, or a good restaurant.

Always good food and quick. Las Cascadas is our go to restaurant when I don’t feel like cooking. Their green sauce is great.

It was ok. We needed to eat and we saw this place. Everyone was nice. Service was good, but the flavor of the food was just so so. When we first went in I didn’t smell cigarette smoke, towards the end of the meal I started to smell it, yuck. I guess when she asked smoking or nonsmoking, I should have taken the hint and just backed out.

Just moved into the area and was my first time there(lunch). I grew up eating Casa Elena and subsequently Los Tios after they won the Houston Tex Mex restaurant war of the 80s, so my comparison on Tex-Mex is always based on the comparison. Queso was good but could use some chili’s, chips were fresh and the green and red salsas were quite good(too mild for me but nice flavor). I had the monterrey lunch plate and all the food that was supposed to be hot was piping hot, cold things cold. All quite tasty, practically licked my plate. Everything appeared to be home made and tasted fresh. Service was awesome, very attentive and fast. Thrilled to find a Tex-Mex joint this close that I like. Looking forward to going back in the near future to try some of the dinner items and ‘ritas.

Las Cascadas is our family’s go to place for mexican food hands down. The service, food, and quality are always on point. The waiters know us by name and even our order if were not changing it up that day! Literally everything we have had here has made us happy and makes it fun to be adventurous with the menu! I suggest the Tacos Al Carbon or Shrimp Enchiladas! OH! And the margaritas are tasty and POTENT!

This is our go to tex mex/Mexican restaurant! Prices, food, and service are all great! The only reason it’s not a 5 star for me is the smoking section, which usually is a deal breaker for me but here it doesn’t bother me as much as other places.

Went there for the first time today for lunch after hearing people praise this place. Best thing here was the chips and salsa. Had stuffed jalapeños and you can tell they were frozen. When we received them, they weren’t even hot! As if they had been sitting for 10 minutes. Even the ones you get from Sonic are better. For entrees we got the stuffed avocado platter, one chicken, one beef. The avocados we had were brown. Never had that at a place that sells fried avocado. Meat had no spices nor flavor. Nothing was hot and you can tell everything had been frozen until it was ordered. Can’t believe this place had so many good reviews. Typically if I don’t like a place, I keep it to myself and tell myself I just won’t go back but this was worthy of a review to save anyone else their time and money if interested in trying this place out. Eat at your own risk!

We stopped in here for a quick dinner and were pleasantly suprised. I had the chalupas and my husband had one of their specials, which included tons of grilled, juicy shrimps and tons of food in general. The service is great, quality wonderful, portions Texas size… I loved it!

Good food. We go there several times a month because it’s close and convenient. We always have a nice experience. Great Tacos al carbon and Quesadillas.

Food is mediocre, salsa is also sub par, but the service is always great and it’s relatively clean. If you live in the surrounding neighborhoods and don’t want to travel far, I suggest their lunch specials.

I just had to check back in and update my review. Like so many others, when Gringo’s finally opened on the feeder road at 45/Cypresswood, we were dying to give it a try and actually couldn’t get in for the long lines until today. I wished we had saved our money and time and had the Las Cascadas beef fajitas for two, instead. Your salsa beats them by a country mile, your service is fast, your prices and lunch specials are awesome, and your food is authentic and not bland and frozen-tasting. We’ll be back to Las Cascadas many times in the future. I can’t see myself ever paying Gringos to insult my taste buds again. Thank you, Las Cascadas!!!

3 stars because it wasn’t bad but it wasn’t anything special either. Chips and salsa were good. There was smoking in the bar which could be smelled throughout the restaurant.

Great Mex food. Really great. Queso is top notch, as are chips, salsa, enchiladas, drinks, etc. etc. etc. Affordable, fast, way generous, and very very tasty. I typically get carry out, and order a very good margarita while waiting. Well before I finish that drink a big bag is put before me to take away. Take time for brain freeze. I am huge on Mex/Tex-Mex food. This is truly my favorite in Houston. If you love Mex food, this is *must* stop. Food — top notch Service — top notch, laid back, efficient and friendly Value — triple touch notch Ambience — average, and I wouldn’t change a thing. Sit at the bar. Order some food. Savor the funkiness. And fall in love with the place. Watch a Spanish channel football game. Trust me. Go. Speaking Spanish optional.

Giving this place a 3 is fair. Don’t get me wrong the food isn’t horrible at all. And the service was great. However, I found everything that was ordered at my table, from chips and salsa to enchiladas and tacos. was nothing to write home about. In fact the tortillas are likely store bought. The French fries were slightly under cooked. And the taco and flautas were rather dry. Not bad but certainly nothing special

I’ve been to Las Cascadas a few times and it is a really good Tex Mex restaurant. Service is a little slow, at least on the times I have visited. The food is really good though and they make killer Margaritas. Very tasty and go great with the food. My favorite dish is the Friday’s Special. They have it everyday that is just the name of it. It consists of guacamole salad, crispy bean taco and chile con queso on your first plate. Second plate comes with two cheese enchiladas and re-fried beans and rice. A very filling dish and reasonably priced at $ 8.75. They have happy hour from 4 – 6 and that is a great time to sip on some tasty Margaritas. I drink mine on the rocks with salt and they are very good here. Desserts I have tried are the fried ice cream and sopapillas. The fried ice cream is just okay and not as good as I have had at other places. The sopapillas though were soft and rich. Served with honey and powdered sugar on top. This is a great local Tex Mex restaurant. If I don’t feel like driving far for a good meal, this is my go to spot. I have always had a good meal on each visit.

Update: Going through my expenses today I compared my recite to Las Cascadas charge and discovered the bartender doubled my original tip. In other-words, he stole money from a customer.
