Specialties
We are a 501c3 non-profit horse sanctuary that is run completely by volunteers and donations. It’s a wonderful place to learn all about horses, including grooming, tacking, bathing, riding and training. All in a relaxed, easy non-judgmental environment of love and simplicity, out in nature. We ride in a big arena, and if you want to come as a visitor or join our volunteer family, pretty much all the info is on our services page on our website. We love these horses and have brought them from starvation, neglect and donation to a forever home. We have riders and volunteers with every level of experience. Come join us for a couple hours, bring your whole family, take special photos with our horses, or join us more often, becoming a member of our family. But leave your need to be perfect FB self at home. .. we are all about being real, vulnerable and imperfect here. We don’t do drama, all have been through a lot and find time with these horses and humans to be healing to our body, mind and souls.
History
Established in 2012.
We started out four years ago with the adoption of Henry and Lexi from the Houston SPCA. After a year and a half of training and learning, Donna, our Founder, started a trail riding business for women named Just Us Gals and our Horses. About a year and a half later, she and a group of regular riders incorporated into a 501c3 Non-Profit, calling it Henry’s Home, Horse and Human Sanctuary. It was named after Henry who was the worst case of neglect and starvation they had worked with. We took out trail rides until just recently to pay for these horses. But with a recent move, we have changed to arena riding, along with all the care and training of these horses. That gives us more time to devote to equine therapy for adults, family experiences, photo opportunities with our horses, training of both horses and riders, and loving care by our ever growing family of volunteers.
Meet the Manager
Donna S.
Manager
She’s exhausted! Donna works about 80 hours a week as our founder and on our Board of Directors, all as a volunteer. She has raised her family, run her businesses, and now has a husband who is happy to see her finally getting to live her dream. And she’s not the only one. .. many of our volunteers pitch in time and money to care for these beloved horses who have been through so much.
