I met the owner at the Mom Expo a few months ago. He answered all my questions about their facility and instructors. I finally decided to take my daughter for an evaluation session. Not, one time did anyone tell me that a trial «evaluation» class is 10 minutes!!! Aghh! I went out of my way, considering I don’t live in the area to take her just to splash water around. Her instructor AJ was personable and my daughter enjoyed her brief time with him. Needless to say, this place is pretty pricey! I’m not sure what the rates are for a private session on other places, but they were pretty sure it was across the board. The place had a fair amount of students… However, I think the parent/​child class is a fair cost. I think you can easily go broke paying for classes, especially if your child doesn’t catch on to the skills. I realized that the instructors skills with my daughter, is something that my husband can teach her. I may sign up for parent/​child class in the Fall. It’s a family owned and not a chain, which I really like about it.

My daughter has been at FINS since she was just over 6 months old. She just turned 4, is able to swim on her own, and is extremely comfortable in the water. The teachers are knowledgeable, well-​trained, and engaged with every single student. Everyone there from the front desk to the teachers to the manager is so accommodating. Swim lessons are a big highlight of my daughter’s week. I highly recommend FINS to any parent of any age child.

My son has been in lessons for 1 ½ years at FINS and he absolutely loves it! His teacher is great and always gives us a rundown of the lesson when it is over. The staff is always very informative and extremely nice. The facility, pools, and bathrooms are always clean. We recommend FINS to everyone we know!

I cancelled and pulled my 2.5 year old daughter out of classes indefinitely this morning. We have been in Baby FINS 2 for almost the last year and still doing the same five activities. In Baby FINS 1, we at least did some FINS 2 activities to prepare the students. But in FINS 2, it’s the same splashing around to the point that my growing 2.5 year old was bored and started to get frustrated, as well as tried to veer toward the older kids and wanted to do their activities.
The facility has no locker rooms; the changing area is coed with only one double changing «room» which has nothing more than a flimsy curtain easily pulled open by any curious child. There are two single curtained changing cubicles, two single bathrooms and one disabled bathroom that I had to use as the changing room for my daughter. Saturdays are way too overpacked, and combine that with strollers, oversized bags, parents, grandparents, extended family and older siblings who aren’t in classes, it makes for a very stressful sensory overload and not a fun experience at all. FINS’ makeup policy is not conducive to us full-​time working parents. I don’t have the luxury of coming on a Thursday afternoon to make up my Saturday class (which was a makeup because FINS was closed on Memorial Day weekend). We have only missed a tiny handful of classes outside of national holidays in the last year. Our usual makeups are back to back with our regular Saturday class, but today we were forced to stand and wait after our 10am FINS 2 class soaking wet in our bathing suits hoping that there would be a spot at 11am to let us in. They are so strict with their makeups but don’t care that parents don’t notify them that they won’t be there. As a result, my 2.5 year old daughter got frustrated and upset and cold and wanted to go home. So I got her changed first instead of me first (because there was no private changing room available; I changed her on the changing tables, which are usually filled with bags of parents who don’t have babies or toddlers). My daughter thought we were going to be leaving after she was dressed but I explained that mummy was still in her bathing suit. Needless to say, she got upset and started crying. I had nowhere to change. Another mother stood there staring at me and I politely asked her to stop staring as it was making us uncomfortable. She started shaking her head and then said «F-​ing control your child.» Excuse me!?!
I notified the front desk and they did nothing. I decided I had had enough of the place and cancelled my membership. I left to the car and came back to hand in the cancellation paper and they still said they didn’t bother talking to the woman who used highly inappropriate language in front of my child. You see, they have a constant revenue stream despite incredibly high turnover so they don’t care that they lose a customer. Terrible customer service and all they did was offer us a soggy stale cookie. I refused to leave until they refunded my money. Once that was done, I drove over to Aquatots and signed my daughter up right away. We put up with this for too long. I almost cancelled two months ago when another mother handed me a massive beach towel to cover me up while breastfeeding my daughter (absolutely illegal to ask a mother in Texas to cover). I asked the front desk to put up breastfeeding friendly signs (they have plenty of signs about doubling up diapers) but no sign was ever put up. I told the mother that she is showing far more cleavage in her bathing suit than I ever am while nursing. What a nightmare… so glad we are gone. Finally at Aquatots my daughter will actually learn to swim.

Very slow progression in teaching. They basically want you to pay several hundreds of dollars in classes just to have your kid still splashing around in the water. Also their class’s make up policy is awful. Basically a waste of time and money. Will never enroll again.

I called and left messages several times– no one returned my calls. I finally decided to drive to the facility to check it out. Made an appointment for a free swim lesson for my 8 month old the following week. Facility is clean and nice. Pools are heated and comfortable. Instructor seemed to careless about the kids she was just going through the motions. Once the 30 minute class was up my husband and I headed to the front desk. Upon arrival the lady behind the counter, instead of asking us how our trial went, did we have any questions etc, just pointed to a clipboard and told us what to fill out. Very poor customer service. Disappointed in my experience since sadly there are not many options out there for infant swim lessons.

FINS has indoor heated swimming pools in three locations where children and adults can enroll in swimming programs: The Woodlands, Spring, and Atascocita/​Kingwood. My kids love taking swim lessons from the instructors at the Atascocita location! The kids get lots of attention because the class ratio is small. Liam and Juli do an outstanding job of running the swim school and training the instructors and staff. They are super friendly and sincerely care about the children and adult customers. If you are looking for a place in Atascocia/​Kingwood to sign up your children for swim lessons, FINS is the best place in the area!

We love Fins. Our 18 month old went from hating the water to loving to swim ! She has had two great instructors this past 4 months and each one was a great teacher and new our daughter by name. I highly recommend FINS!

Terrible customer service. Owners would not return calls, and staff was very rude.

my daughter learned how to swim here years ago when she was about 4. I wasted time and money at the YMCA with a different instructor showing up each week and a large class size where my kid learned nothing. Came to this place, got her a private instructor and she accomplished more in one lesson than 5 lessons at the Y. After about 6 lessons here, she could swim well enough that I wouldn’t worry about her drowning if she fell into a pool. A few years later, I put her on the neighborhood swim team and she remembered enough to do fine and perfect her swimming. I recall the lessons here being a little pricey (compared to group lessons especially), but well worth it since it’s a safety issue for me
