This place sucks. There’s cool old timey country stuff on the wall. The guy up front looked like the owner, nice guy. But yeah I had the jalapeño sausage link sammich, not spicy at all. Bbq sauce was generic, the dirty rice was good, it’s hard to screw rice up. The baked beans were ok. Yeah the sandwich was really lacking flavor. I don’t recommend Barneys.

I tried Barney’s Texas BBQ today for lunch. I tried the lunch special of a PO Boy sandwich and side with a drink for $ 8.99. I had the chopped beef PO Boy with potato salad, the bun was extremely stale and the chopped beef was more minced than chopped. It was more like a tasteless meat paste with no flavor or moistness. Sadly even the BBQ sauce could not help. I did notice that there were at least 10 — 12 people eating at the same time as myself and not one of them were eating the chopped beef, so perhaps they already knew how bad the chopped beef was already and maybe the other meats are acceptable but sadly having such a poor first impression I may not want to waste my time or money to find out if anything else is good.

I have been coming here for years and love it. My favorite is the lean brisket and their chicken. The guys that own the place are very nice and provide great service.

Sub par food at fancy prices, I wouldn’t pay $ 4 for their sandwiches, no amount of BBQ sauce could fix how dry their brisket was. Their cookies say otis spunkmeyer, but I swear they tasted mote like chipahoys.

First time @ Barney’s Barbeque and everything was great. The guy behind the counter was very nice and took the time to explain everything. The food was very good and they offered tons of tasty side items to choose from. The restaurant was clean and the staff quickly came around and refilled my drink and took my empty plate. I would recommend stopping in when you are in the area.

Their friendly service and gernerous servings are probably what makes this location a favorite for some locals. The mashed Potato side alone is worth the visit. I tried a moist brisket Po Boy. the flavor of the brisket was like a fusions of Pot Roast w/BBQ. Although it may not be a flavor you are used to when it comes to brisket, it was quite filling and savory! They have their own spicy sauce too if you want to kick things up a notch. Establishment has a rugged Texas Country feel to it. Their Unsweetened Iced Tea is a definite thurst Quencher too.

This is one of my favorite bbq places in Houston. I haven’t tried Rudy’s which I hear is good but I have tried Pappa’s BBQ and it is overrated.

Very friendly staff, this place looks like its been around just long enough to perfect their main dish. The side dishes lack something special

I think this place needs an updated review. I wouldn’t call this place #1BBQ in Texas, but it’s one of the better places around Houston. The prices are reasonable for what you get with it. You won’t leave hungry that’s for sure(I’m 6’5″, 250 lbs. I can eat my fair share of food…) One of my favorite things there is the Chicken Fried Steak sandwich. $ 5.95 for a freshly made piece of meat between 2 thick pieces of Texas Toast. Comes with lettuce, tomatoes, and mayo. Can’t go wrong with this item. I’ve also tried the Chopped beef sandwich, which is something I get at every BBQ place I try. No surprise, they know how to make good chopped beef. Just had the 2 meat combo dinner tonight for $ 10.95. Got a fat chunk of pork ribs, jalapeño sausage, and 2 sides(mashed potatoes and green beans). The Jalapeño sausage was great. Very good sausage with the perfect amount of jalapeño(I’d prefer it hotter, but that’s just me). THERIBSWEREINCREDIBLE! I used to think ribs from TGIFridays were the best I’ve had, but Barneys ribs have chunks of meat hanging off the bone. Not to mention the huge pieces in between the tiny bones. The meat was cooked perfectly. Smoked just right with juices flowing in every bite. They have good side orders. Onion rings are some of the best I’ve ever had. Tried the Fried Corn Nuggets which were a new experience for me but I loved them. Both of these orders are under $ 2.50. Also have Peach Cobbler for dessert, but I’m not a peach fan so I’ve never gone out of my way to try it. I probably sound really biased, I really think this place deserves a higher rating than 3 stars. Check it out next time you’re looking for BBQ you should check this place out. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Had the 3 meat platter. Have to say was not impressed. It was not bad but it wasn’t notorious. The ribs were tough, the sausage tasted funny but the brisket was the better of the 3 the BBQ sauce was not bad. Perhaps if the food was warmer(hot is nice too) it might have been better. A local recommended this place as the best BBQ in town. Not sure that’s true but I’ll give it another chance soon.

I don’t go looking for great bbq. As a citizen of Texas, I assume it would naturally find me. I worked at «The Pit BBQ» as a kid and find Barney needs to maybe ante up if he wants to stay in the game. I understand this is the only bbq place in a 2 mile radius, but they are overpriced for what you get. It’s a small business trying to make it on the mean streets of north houston, but I was only mildly impressed.

I enjoy eating at Barnye’s because it is close to my house and I love sliced brisket I will be the first to say this isn’t the best BBQ I’ve ever had but there are not many choices nearby however their sliced brisket is excellent 9 out of 10 times. I can’t really comment on anything else because that’s the only thing I eat here other than the peach cobbler and occasional steak fries both of which are on par. It beats the hell out of Pappa’s sliced brisket(it’s always very fatty there).

Place is special because it’s been here for years and has interesting memoribilia on the walls, but the BBQ is average or below. I found out later that the original owner sold the place, so that explains a lot. It’s best days are behind it. I had the sliced beef and sausage combo. I don’t think they slow-cook the meat, because it’s not as tender as good places. The sausage isn’t any better than HEB.

I don’t see how this place got any good reviews. I went thinking that since Barney’s has been open so long it must be good. Wrong. This is not real BBQ. I ordered chopped beef and the guy opened a hot box up front and scooped some chopped mush(that you can buy in a tub from the grocery store) onto a bun. All their sides were scooped out of a hot box up front and they were very bland. I don’t understand how Barney’s has been open so long.

This place is the best kept secret in North Houston! Though it may no longer exist if it stays a secret much longer. We make the 20 – 25 minute drive from Klein regularly to enjoy this melt-in-your-mouth barbeque. I suggest the brisket, but they excel at preparing all meats. Give this place a shot. You won’t regret it.

This, my friends, is some tasty, tasty barbeque. It also doesn’t hurt that it’s less than ten minutes from my house. Situated at the fairly busy intersection of Treaschwig and and FM1960, I wasn’t really expecting much from this place. Thankfully, I was proved wrong, and this has been pretty much the only barbeque joint I eat at for going on five years now. The links are pretty good(not too spicy since I’m a big wuss when it comes to heat even though I’m a native Texas), but the outstanding thing here is their chopped beef barbeque sandwich. I tend to order and extra side of sauce since I like my sandwich slathered in it, but the beef is tender and sweet and so so good. It also comes with pickles and onions, if you like those on your sandwich. I also really like their baked potato and will sometimes run up to get one for lunch. They usually put just the right amount of toppings on it, though I do ask for extra cheese. The last two times, however, that I picked one up, they had messed up the order(I ask for no sour cream — hate it on a baked potato — and no chives), so you may want to check your potato if you get one least, in the immortal words of Leo Getz, cleared up for this review, they screw you in the drive through. All in all, though, excellent barbeque and baked potatoes, proving your name doesn’t have to be Goode or Pappas to do barbeque right and do it way cheaper to boot.
